The next morning, Scott, Stiles, Alex, and Noah were all at Derek's house. Scott and Alex leaned against Stiles' Jeep, watching Derek get placed in the back of the sheriff's car. Scott looked away while Alex only watched, crossing her arms and pulling Stiles' flannel closer to keep warm. Her eyes then found the policemen who were investigating the "grave" the boys dug up last night.
That's when Stiles walked out of the woods and over to the car Derek was in. Alex dropped her arms and ran over to Stiles, stopping him.
"Are you going to talk to him?" Alex asked.
"Yes," Stiles said.
"Let me," Alex said.
"Why?" Stiles said.
"Because you get intimidated easily," Alex said. "And Derek, he's really intimidating."
"And you think you can do it?" Stiles asked. "Tame the wolf?"
"I can probably do better than you," Alex said.
"Fine," Stiles said. "But if I see my dad walking over to the car, I'm pulling you out."
"Okay, Alex said before opening the passenger side door and getting in.
Derek looked up at the girl as she got into the car and closed the door.
"Okay, just so you know, I'm not afraid of you," Alex started, looking through the fence-like thing that locked Derek in the back.
Derek only glared back at her.
Alex, however, wasn't phased. "I just want to know something. The girl you killed, she was a werewolf. She was a different kind, wasn't she? I mean, she can turn herself into an actual wolf and I know Scott can't do that. Is that why you killed her?"
"Why are you so worried about me when it's your friend who's the problem?" Derek asked, almost as unphased as Alex. "When he steps out onto the field, what do you think they're going to do, huh? Keep cheering him on? I can't stop him from playing but you and Stiles can." Derek suddenly got close to Alex. "And trust me, you want to."
Suddenly, the door opened and Alex got pulled out of the car. Whoever pulled her out grabbed her by the arm and away from the car.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow," Alex said.
"There," Noah's familiar voice said. "Stand."
Alex's eyes met Noah's before she looked away.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Noah asked.
"She's just trying to help," Stiles said, running over to Noah and Alex.
"Okay, well how about you two help me understand exactly how you came across it," Noah said.
"We were looking for Scott's inhaler," Alex said.
"Which he dropped when?" Noah asked.
"The other night," Stiles said.
"The other night when you two were looking for the first half of the body?" Noah asked.
"Yes," Stiles said.
"The night you two told me you were alone and Scott was at home?" Noah asked.
"Yes," Stiles said. "No."
Alex shook her head, knowing just how much Stiles messed up.
"Oh crap," Stiles said.
"So you two lied to me?" Noah asked.
"That depends on how you define lying," Alex said.
"Well, I define it as not telling the truth," Noah said. "How do you define it?"
"Reclining your body in a horizontal position?" Stiles said as more of a question.
"Get the hell out of here," Noah said.
"Absolutely," Stiles said, scratching his head as he left.
"I don't need you and Stiles in this, okay," Noah said, looking back at Alex.
"I know," Alex said, looking down at her feet.
"So, I'm taking you back home," Noah said.
Alex's head snapped up. "What?"
"I'm taking you home tonight," Noah said.
"Noah," Alex said.
"I'm sorry, Alex," Noah said. "It's just going to be until I can get Stiles to mind his own business."
"That could last forever," Alex said.
"Okay, fine," Noah said. "I'll change it to a few days."
"Please don't send me there," Alex begged.
"I'm sorry," Noah sighed before giving Alex a quick hug and walking away.
Alex sighed and walked over to Scott and Stiles who were talking. She gave the two a quick look before getting into Stiles' Jeep and sitting in the back.
Stiles got into the driver's seat and looked back at Alex. "Are you okay?"
Alex shook her head. "Can we just get out of here please?"
"Yeah, I'll get Scott," Stiles said, getting out of the Jeep for a second before both he and Scott got in.
Once they were both in and the car was started, Stiles drove away from the house.
As Stiles drove, Scott spoke up. "I can't find anything about wolfsbane being used for burial."
"Just keep looking," Stiles said. "Maybe it's like a ritual or something. Maybe they bury you as a wolf. Or maybe it's like a special skill, you know? Something you have to learn."
"Yeah, I'll put it on my to-do list," Scott said. "Right underneath how the hell I'm going to play this game tonight."
"Maybe it's different for girl werewolves," Stiles said.
"Okay!" Scott said. "Stop it!"
"Stop what?" Stiles asked.
"Stop saying werewolf! Stop enjoying this so much," Scott said, sounding like he was in pain.
"Are you okay?" Alex asked.
"No!" Scott said. "No, I'm not! I'm so far from being okay."
"You and me both," Alex mumbled.
"You know, you're going to have to accept it, Scott," Stiles said. "Sooner or later."
"I can't," Scott said.
"Well you're gonna have to," Stiles said.
"No, I can't breathe," Scott said.
"Stiles, pull over," Alex said.
"What?" Stiles asked, looking at Alex confused.
"He can't breathe, pull the hell over!" Alex said.
Stiles pulled over to the side of the road. "Okay, done."
Scott's hand suddenly hit the roof of the car as he groaned in pain.
Alex started going through Stiles' bag until she found what she was looking for. "You kept it?!"
"What was I supposed to do with it?" Stiles asked.
"I don't know, maybe not keep it close to our friend who's a werewolf?" Alex said, grabbing the wolfsbane out of Stiles' bag. She handed it to Stiles and he ran out of the car before throwing it into the woods.
As he was doing that, Alex noticed Scott getting out of the car. "Scott."
"Just let me go," Scott said. "I don't want to hurt you again."
"Again, what do you-?" Alex was cut off by Scott getting out of the car and running away.
"Okay," Stiles said, walking back towards the Jeep. "We're good you-" Stiles' eyes went to the empty passenger seat.
"I tried to make him stay," Alex said, her voice shaking.
Stiles pressed his lips together in a thin line before nodding.
"I'm sorry," Alex said.
"It's alright, he'll find his way back," Stiles said, getting into the Jeep. "Now, are you okay?"
"Yeah, why?" Alex said, getting into the passenger seat.
"You were quiet the whole ride," Stiles said.
Alex sighed. "Your dad is making me go back to my house for a few days."
"He what? Stiles asked, getting back onto the road.
"He's sending me back," Alex said. "And for the icing on the cake, Derek is still saying Scott can't play."
"Why is my dad sending you back?" Stiles asked, still stuck on that topic.
"Because we're getting into business we shouldn't," Alex said. "Your dad's words, not mine."
Stiles sighed. "You know I'm going to miss you."
"You make it sound like I'm leaving the state," Alex laughed. "Besides, we can still text and call, and I'm still going to be at school. And, if you really want to see me, you know my address."
"I'm still going to miss you being at my house," Stiles said.
"I'm going to miss you too," Alex said.
