A few minutes later, Alex's attention was brought to Jackson who was walking over to Lydia, holding his right shoulder.
"Did you do it?" Lydia asked, standing up and walking over to her boyfriend.
"You said not to make a habit of it but one quartazone shot won't kill me," Jackson said.
"You should get one right before the game too," Lydia said, earning a look from Jackson. "The pros do it all the time. Do you wanna be a little high school ameture? Or, do you want to go pro?" Lydia kept getting closer to Jackson as she asked her last question ending in the two kissing.
At this point, Alex was done watching the scene and situated herself to where she wasn't looking at the pair anymore. Scott, who had walked over, grabbed whatever Stiles was "reading" and got his attention.
"Holy God," Stiles said, scared.
"The scent was the same," Scott said, referring to the body.
"You sure?" Stiles asked, standing up.
"Yes," Scott said as Alex stood up too.
"So he did burry the other half of the body on his property," Stiles said.
"Which means we have proof he killed the girl," Scott said.
"I say we use it," Stiles said, beginning to walk down the hallway.
"Hold on, are we really going to get into this?" Alex asked, following Stiles. "Blaming Derek?"
"Yeah, we are," Stiles said as Scott started following Stiles and Alex.
"Alright, so what now?" Alex asked, making Stiles stop.
"How are we going to use the body as evidence?" Scott asked.
"Tell me something first," Stiles said, looking at Scott. "Are you doing this because you want to stop Derek or because you want to play in the game and he said you couldn't."
"There are bite marks in the leg, you two," Scott said. "Bitemarks."
"Okay," Alex said.
"We're going to need a shovel," Stiles said before the three walked out of the hospital and to Stiles' Jeep.
~~~
It was dark and all that could be seen was a silhouette getting into their car. The engine roared to life before it drove off and away from the house. And, that's when Stiles found the opportunity to drive closer. Once he found a good spot to stop, he did and turned the Jeep off.
The three of them got out of the Jeep, the boys holding shovels and Scott holding a flashlight. As they walked to the front, Scott handed Alex the flashlight and the three walked around the house.
"Wait, something's different," Scott said as they walked.
"Different how?" Alex asked, getting scared.
This wasn't exactly how she saw herself on a school night. Trespassing on the Hale's property and looking for a body. It certainly didn't help when Scott said something was different. Alex's body started shaking but she wasn't sure if it was because she was scared or because she was cold.
"I don't know," Scott responded. "Let's just get this over with."
No words were spoken as the boys began digging.
"So… how are we going to explain everything?" Alex asked as she shivered again.
The boys had been digging for a while and the hole was now ankle deep but the silence was slowly killing Alex.
"I'm not sure yet," Stiles said.
"Yeah, because we're just meddling kids who get into business that isn't ours," Alex said.
"We've been doing it our whole lives," Stiles said. "From the first day we met."
"And we still can't think of a way to explain why we were trespassing, how we know it was Derek, and what we were thinking?" Alex asked.
"Nope," Scott said.
"We have to think of something you know," Alex said. "Noah's going to want to know everything and we can't exactly tell him about werewolves."
"Yeah, I know," Stiles said.
"Just making sure," Alex said as the boys continued digging.
More time went by and the hole was now thigh deep but they still hadn't found anything.
"This is taking way too long," Scott said.
"Just keep digging," Stiles said.
"What if he comes back?" Scott asked frantically.
"Then we get the hell out of here," Stiles said. "Besides we've got Alex to keep watch anyway. She'll let us know if Derek comes back."
Alex smiled at Stiles as the boy kept digging.
"What if he catches us?" Scott asked. "Alex can't help then."
"I can call 911," Alex said, trying to defend herself.
"I already have a plan for that," Stiles said.
"Which is?" Scott asked.
"You run one way, Alex runs another way, and I run the last way I can. Whoever he catches first, too bad," Stiles said.
"I hate that plan," Scott said before looking up at Alex with a worried look. "What if he catches Alex? What do we do then?"
"You can hear her scream," Stiles said, not bothered by the question. "If he catches Alex and you hear her scream, you can save her."
"Not exactly the answer I was hoping for," Scott said, going back to digging.
"Not exactly the answer I was hoping for either," Alex said, staring at Stiles before shivering.
"Here," Stiles said, taking his flannel off and passing it to Alex. "It's a little sweaty but I've seen you shivering a lot so take it. It'll keep you warm."
"Thanks," Alex said, putting the flannel on as the boys kept digging.
Suddenly, Stiles hit something and put his arm out. "Stop, stop, stop."
Scott stopped and gave Stiles a confused look.
Stiles tossed his shovel off to the side, making it just barely miss Alex as she leaned over the hole. The boys crouched down and started digging with their hands until they found a cloth.
"Hurry," Alex said as the boys began untying the bag.
"I'm trying," Stiles said. "Did he really have to tie the thing like 900 knots?"
"Move," Alex said, hopping into the hole and pulling her pocket knife out.
She cut the knots and moved out of the way when she was done.
The boys moved the cloth away to reveal half of a wolf's body. Alex gasped as she took a step back. The boys however, screamed and jumped out of the hole.
"What the hell is that?!" Stiles asked.
"Chill out guys," Alex said. "It's just half of a wolf."
"Yeah, I can see that," Stiles said. "I thought you said you smelled blood. As in human blood."
"I told you two something was different," Scott said.
"This doesn't make sense," Stiles said.
"Then let's get out of here," Alex said, getting out of the hole.
"Yeah, okay," Stiles said. "Help us cover this up."
"Wait," Alex said. "What's that?"
"What's what?" Scott asked.
"The flower," Alex said.
"What about it?" Scott asked.
"It's wolfsbane," Stiles said.
"What's that?" Scott asked.
Stiles gave Scott a look. "Are you serious?"
"Haven't you seen The Wolf Man?" Alex asked.
"No," Scott said.
"Lon Chaney Junior? Claude Rains?" Stiles said. "The original classic werewolf movie?"
"No, what?" Scott asked.
Stiles sighed. "You are so unprepared for this."
Alex stood up and walked over to the flower before grabbing it and picking it up. There was a rope attached and she looked back at Stiles.
"Keep going," he said.
Alex shrugged and kept pulling the rope, taking it in her hands as she did so. Scott and Stiles only watched as the girl walked in circles around the "grave" they dug up.
Suddenly, red lines appeared where the rope had been and Alex looked at Stiles again before continuing to pull it up. That's when Scott looked down and gasped.
"Alex," Scott said, still looking down. "Stiles."
Alex and Stiles walked over to where Scott was standing and looked down. In the place of the wolf, there was the top half of a girl. Stiles gasped while Alex only stared into the dead, open eyes of the girl.
