"Hey, come here," Stiles said, grabbing Scott away from his locker.
"What?" Scott frowned, getting pulled over to the wall.
"Come here," Stiles said, more urgently this time. "Tell me what they're saying."
Scott and Alex both looked down the hall and up a set of stairs to see the principal, the sheriff and his deputy.
"Can you hear them?" Alex asked before Stiles got the chance to.
"Curfew because of the body," Scott said, turning to face Stiles and Alex.
"Unbelievable," Alex said.
"My dad's out there looking for a rabid animal, while the jerk-off who actually killed the girl is just hanging out, doing whatever he wants," Stiles said, sounding annoyed.
"Well, you can't exactly tell your dad the truth about Derek," Alex said.
"I can do something," Stiles said.
"Like what?" Scott asked.
"Find the other half of the body," Stiles said before walking down the hallway.
"Are you kidding???" Scott asked.
"You know he doesn't kid about this kind of stuff," Alex said.
"Yeah, but he can't be serious," Scott said, sounding worried. "The killer is still out there. What if Stiles gets hurt."
"I'll talk to him," Alex said before running down the hall and catching up to Stiles. "Are you seriously going to find the other half?"
"Yup," Stiles said.
"So there's no talking you out of it?" Alex asked.
"Nope," Stiles said.
"Well, that leaves me with the common saying. If you can't beat them, join them," Alex said.
"So you're going to help even though the killer is still out there?" Stiles asked, stopping in the middle of the hallway to look at Alex.
"Yup," Alex nodded.
"And there's no talking you out of it?" Stiles asked, repeating Alex's question from seconds ago.
"Nope," Alex smiled, repeating Stiles' answer.
"Fine," Stiles sighed.
~~~
After school, Stiles and Alex were only at the house for a short while until Stiles got a call. It was from Scott.
"What's up?" Alex heard Stiles ask.
Stiles stayed silent as Scott spoke.
"Hey, I wanna hear too," Alex whined, walking over to Stiles.
Stiles only put his pointer finger up at her, telling Alex to wait a minute.
Alex sighed and sat back on Stiles' bed.
"We're on our way," Stiles said, hanging up the phone and turned to Alex who had her arms crossed over her chest.
"What's going on?" Alex asked.
"Scott found something and needs us over there," Scott said.
"Alright, let's go then," Alex said, letting her arms fall to her side.
Stiles only nodded before he grabbed his keys and shoved Alex out the door.
~~~
Then the two got to Scott's house, Stiles ran through the front door looking like he was swimming through air as Alex laughed and followed, closing the door behind her. Stiles bolted up the stairs and Alex caught up to him just as he opened Scott's bedroom door and started asking questions.
"What did you find? How did you find it? Where did you find it?" Stiles asked.
Scott looked at Stiles as Alex only smiled as she crossed her arms. "Yes, he's had a lot of adderall."
"I thought you were going to watch him," Scott said.
"Bold of you to assume I didn't watch him," Alex said.
"Bold of you to assume," Stiles said. "Now, I need details."
"I found something at Derek Hale's," Scott said.
"Are you kidding?" Stiles asked at the same time Alex asked, "What?"
"There's something buried there," Scott said. "I could smell blood."
"That's awesome!" Stiles said, earning a sideways glance of disapproval from Alex. "I mean, that's terrible. Who's blood?"
Scott looked at Stiles as he stood up. "I don't know. But when we do, your dad nails Derek for the murder then you two help me figure out how to play lacrosse without changing. Because there's no way I'm not playing that game."
"Alright," Alex said as Scott tossed his lacrosse stick on the bed. "Well, let's go then."
The two boys nodded and they all left Scott's room.
~~~
The three walked into the crowded hospital looking for where they could find the other half of the body.
"Hey," Stiles said, pointing at a sign that said "Morgue".
"Okay," Scott said, walking over to the door.
"Good luck I guess," Stiles said as Scott nodded and walked into the room.
Stiles stood there for a moment before Alex spotted Lydia. She tapped Stiles on the shoulder and pointed at Lydia. "Go get her."
Stiles looked at Alex confused before walking over to Lydia. "I can't do it without you," he said, walking over to Alex and grabbing her arm, pulling her towards Lydia.
Stiles suddenly stopped and leaned against a counter mumbling a, "What the hell am I doing?" and an, "Oh my God" before looking at Lydia.
"Just talk to her," Alex said.
Stiles nodded and pulled Alex with him over to where Lydia was sitting. "Hey, Lydia," Stiles said, sounding nervous.
Lydia didn't look up at him.
"Hey, girl," Alex said, figuring she'd get Lydia's attention and let Stiles do the rest.
"Hi," Lydia said, finally looking up.
"You probably don't remember me," Stiles said. "I sit behind you in Biology."
Lydia looked at Alex with at look that said "What the hell?". Alex simply shrugged before Lydia looked at Stiles deep in thought.
"Uh… anyway, I've always thought that we just had this kind of connection," Stiles said.
Alex could feel her heart breaking. She then realized she had made a mistake.
"You know, unspoked of course," Stiles said as Lydia looked at Alex. "Maybe it would be kinda cool to get to know each other a little better."
"Hold on, gimme a second," Lydia said, taking her bluetooth out of her ear. "I didn't get any of what you just said. Is it worth repeating."
Alex, knowing that Lydia wasn't actually on the phone with anyone, let out a sigh of relief, thankful that her friend had her back.
"Uh, um… no," Stiles said. "Sorry."
Stiles and Alex walked around the corner and found two open seats.
"Well that was terrible," Stiles sighed, letting his head fall into his hands.
"Relax Stiles, she was just on the phone," Alex said, rubbing Stiles' back. "Maybe you can talk to her again sometime."
"Yeah right," Stiles mumbled.
"Or, you could open your eyes to see what's right in front of you," a man said randomly causing Alex to snap her head in that direction.
"Is he talking to us?" Stiles asked as Alex removed her hand from his back.
"I have no idea," Alex said.
"Yeah, I am," the man said. "Open your eyes, boy! Stop chasing after some girl who doesn't want you. That only works in the movies, not in real life."
"What do you mean, open my eyes?" Stiles asked, looking at Alex.
"Just what I said, open them and use them to see what's been in front of you your whole life," the man said.
"Uh… okay," Stiles said as more of a question.
Suddenly, a nurse came out of a room and called out a name. The man got up and walked away. "Good luck, boy."
Stiles looked at Alex and Alex looked right back at him.
"What was-?" Stiles began.
"I have no idea," Alex said, cutting Stiles off.
"Should we-?" Stiles began.
"Forget it ever happened and go back to worrying about Derek and Scott?" Alex asked, interrupting Stiles again. "Yup."
"Yup," Stiles nodded, leaning back in his chair.
