"Did you apologize to Allison?" Alex asked as she, Stiles, and Scott walked through the school the next day.
"Yeah," Scott said, sounding dazed.
"You still have someone to apologize to though," Stiles mumbled.
"Stiles," Alex said, glaring at him.
"Alright," Stiles said, putting his hands up in surrender. "Everything's good between you and Allison then?"
"No," Scott said.
"No?" Alex asked, confused.
"Remember the Hunters?" Scott asked, making Stiles and Alex nod. "Her dad is one of them."
Alex gasped. "Her dad-?"
"-shot me-," Scott nodded.
"Allison's father-?" Stiles asked.
"-with a crossbow," Scott said.
"Allison's father?" Stiles asked again.
"Yes! Her father!" Scott said.
"Oh, my gosh," Alex said.
"Do you know how bad this is?" Stiles asked, not helping the situation.
"Hey, it's going to be alright," Alex said. "He didn't notice you, right?"
"No… N-no, I don't think so…," Scott said, trying to remember the events from last night.
"Does she know about him?" Stiles asked.
"Oh yeah, I don't know!" Scott said, almost in full panic mode. "What if she does? This is gonna kill me guys-"
"Okay, just focus on lacrosse," Alex said, handing Scott his lacrosse stick. "Here, Scott. Take this. Take this and focus on lacrosse for now, okay? That's all you gotta do, yeah?"
"Lacrosse, right," Scott nodded.
"Roberts! What the hell are you doing in the boy's locker room?" Coach said, scaring Alex and making her jump.
"Crap," Alex said, realizing where she was. "Idiots! You didn't tell me we were in the locker room!"
"Whoops?" Stiles said, a smile beginning to spread across his face.
Alex simply flipped him off before looking at Coach. "Sorry about that, I'll be leaving now."
"Wait," Coach said, making Alex stop where she stood. "This is the second day of practice and I've seen how serious you are about the team and wanting to join us."
"Uh, okay?" Alex said as more of a question.
"Boys, do we have any extra gear?" Coach asked, causing some of the boys to shift. "Roberts is joining us at practice today."
Alex only stared at Coach as some of the boys went and got some extra gear.
"You can change in the back," Coach said. "But, you have to change fast and, if you suck, this is gonna be the last time you practice with us."
"Okay, thank you, coach," Alex said before nearly running to the back of the locker room to change.
When she was done and ran back to where Coach told her to meet him, he was gone. Alex sighed and ran out to the field where she found the team and Coach.
"Ah, Roberts, perfect timing," Coach said, putting a hand on her back. "We're doing one on one today. So just hop in line and I'll see what you got."
Alex only nodded as she ran to the back of the line, adrenaline pumping through her veins.
Coach continued yelling at the boys like normal and when it came to Alex's turn, everyone went silent. Alex sighed, knowing that everyone's eyes were on her.
She took the ball into the net of her stick and began sprinting down the field. When Jackson lunged at her, Alex simply dodged him and took the shot. The ball just barely missed the goalies stick and hit the net behind him.
"Damn, that was good," Coach said. "For a girl anyway."
Alex scoffed and rolled her eyes, finding her way to the back of the line.
Now it was Scott's turn.
"McCall, what are you waiting for?" Coach asked, snapping Scott out of his trance. "Let's go."
Scott shook his head, trying to get back into what was happening around him. Next thing Alex knew, she heard Coach blow the whistle and watched Scott grab the ball and start running towards Jackson. Jackson knocked Scott over with ease making Stiles and Alex cringe at the sight.
"Hey, McCall!" Coach said, laughing as he did so. "Hey, McCall!
"You sure you still want to be first line, McCall?" Alex heard Jackson say as he walked away, leaving Scott on his back.
Scott stood up just as Coach approached him and both of them leaned over.
"My-my grandmother can move faster than that," Coac said. "And she's dead! You think you can move faster than the lifeless corpse of my dead grandmother?"
"Yes, Coach," Scott said, his voice almost a whisper.
"I can't hear you!" Coach yelled.
"Yes, Coach," Scott said, louder this time.
"Then do it again," Coach said before standing up and addressing the rest of the team. "McCall's gonna do it again. McCall's gonna do it again!"
As Jackson readied himself, Alex noticed something off about Scott. She ran up to Stiles as Scott grabbed the ball and started running down the field.
"Stiles, something's happening with Scott," Alex whispered.
"He looks fine to me," Stiles said.
Not a second after the words left Stiles' mouth, Scott knocked Jackson down and fell to the ground.
"I told you so," Alex said, running over to Scott.
"Scott? Scott, you okay?" Alex asked as both she and Stiles fell to their knees.
"I can't control it, guys," Scott said quietly. "It's happening."
"What?" Stiles asked in a panicked tone. "Right here? Now?"
"Come on, get up," Alex said, helping Scott off the ground and leading him back to the locker room. "Come on. Come on."
As soon as they got to the locker room, Scott started throwing his gear off and his breathing became heavy.
"Scott, are you okay?" Alex asked, trying to look Scott in the eye.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!" Scott said suddenly, whipping his head up and showing his glowing golden eyes.
Alex backed away from Scott as fast as she could and into Stiles' arms. But, once she had done that, Scott started coming towards the two, making them back further away from their friend. Stiles and Alex hid behind lockers but Scott had found them and jumped on top of the lockers. Alex started panicking as Stiles tried to find something that could help. But, they ended up just running away from a growling Scott until Alex grabbed the fire extinguisher. Not knowing what to do with it, she handed it to Stiles. Once Stiles had the fire extinguisher, he sprayed Scott with it, making him fall onto a bench.
"Stiles. Alex," Alex heard Scott say. "What happened?"
"You tried to kill us," Alex said, her voice shaking as Stiles threw his gloves off and walked towards Scott.
"It's like I told you before," Stiles said. "It's the anger, it's your pulse rising. It's a trigger."
"But that's lacrosse. It's a pretty voilent game, if you haven't noticed," Scott said, sounding tired.
"Well, it's gonna be a lot more voilent if you end up killing someone on the field," Alex said.
"You can't play Saturday," Stiles sighed. "You're gonna have to get out of the game."
"I'm the first line," Scott said before Stiles cut him off.
"Not anymore," Stiles said.
