The Accident

My eyes slowly opened to reveal the reality I live in. The bright light pierced through my soul as the man behind it stared at me in disbelief. I was frozen to the spot I laid in and the ceiling fan seemed to get closer on every blink. I heard murmuring in the room but could not turn my head to face the owners of the words. The static sound in my ears got louder drowning out all the other sounds. Moments later everything blurred out of existence with the last sentence I heard being , "She shouldn't have made it."

************

The alarm went off and I had never been so happy to be awake. I told myself that it was just a bad dream but nothing had ever felt so real. My mom barged in asking why I was still in bed and my heart almost stopped beating. I wanted to tell her but I kept my mouth shut to avoid humiliation and being dubbed a liar. I slowly got up and made my bed without saying a word to my mother because I knew she would not believe me.

"Hurry up!" she said as she barged right out. I had just come out of the closet to my family and suddenly I was an outcast. I sighed realizing that it was all my fault and nothing could be done about it. After preparing myself I swiftly went downstairs for breakfast. Arriving at the scene everyone looked downhearted as they stared at me and I decided to skip breakfast and walk to school. I hated the bus but I had no choice. It was not long until the bus arrived at the bus stop but it felt like I had waited for eternity.

I arrived at school 20 minutes early and I sat alone in the corner of my classroom waiting for time to pass by. I had little to no friends so I was used to the alone time and ever since my confession, I was getting a lot of it. Not long after, it was time for the first lesson so I stood up and waited for the teacher. The teacher walked in and behind her was an unusual shadow. It could not be her's because it stayed in one place so I wondered who would be outside. During the lesson I lost my focus and felt dizzy only to be gazed at by my teacher looking worried. She raised her finger to her nose and asked if I was okay. A drop of blood stained my book and I got up in a hurry headed for the restroom.

*Knock Knock Knock* it was my teacher.

"Are you alright?" she asked and I wanted to tell her I was damn well not alright. I managed to get the bleeding to stop but I could not gather the strength to walk out of the restroom. I washed my face and as I looked up in the mirror there she was. Submerged in the shadows was the rest of her being but out in the light was a piece of her tattered white gown. My body trembled and I froze in fear as I wondered if I ever woke up from my bad dream.

"Foster how could you?" the figure whispered. My heart leaped into my throat when I heard this and I continued staring at the piece of clothing she had on. A leg came out of the shadows as she took a step forward. *GASP* Sweat ran down my face as my body kept shaking. Her leg was pale and almost purple with bloody scars and disfigured toes. My teacher opened the door and I was stricken into silence.

"I called your parents" she said and she looked at me with pity. I rushed out of the restroom because I knew my parents did not pick up. She held my arm with a tight grip and told me I could not leave. The face of a monster looked down on me. My eyes grew wide as I glared at her rotting pale face. Maggots fell from her eye sockets and her wide grin of decaying teeth sent shivers down my spine. I let out a shriek alarming everyone of my presence as I whisked my arm from her grip and ran away.

"Foster!" she yelled. Doors opened as I rushed past the classrooms heading for the exit. What was going on? Who was she? All I remembered was burning the house in my dream with myself and her in it. My thoughts raced and I had no idea I was already in the streets but I kept moving. The more faces I saw, the more frightened I got and I increased my speed. I looked behind me and she stood there waving at me. The loud horn of an incoming vehicle shook me out of my thoughts. I caught a glimpse of the vehicle but it was too late. The sound of the brakes! the last thing I heard.
