Chapter 3

My awakening was quite the surprise. With what had happened I believed I should have perished. My body was sore and basically unmovable. The room was dark so I suspected it was after sun down. I was back to watching the ceiling fan spin and feeling anxious about it dropping low enough taking my head off my body. As I looked around the room I could see a cross put up on the wall in the distance. It faced me dead on and this gave me chills but I dismissed the thought and looked back up at the ceiling fan. The heart monitor beeped so loud I was slowly descending into madness.

"Have you checked on her?" a voice spoke outside my door. I did not want them to know I was awake so I shut my eyes and waited. The door opened smoothly and through my closed eyelids I saw the light coming from the hallway. The doctor walked in, took a quick glimpse of the surrounding and headed back out. My tummy made the 'I'm hungry' sound and to my inconvenience I had to call in some help. It was not long until a nurse walked in and she was magnificent. "Are you doing alright, how are you feeling ?" she said with a broad smile. I snapped out of the trance of her beauty when my tummy decided to butt in. "May I have something to eat please?" I asked. She looked puzzled and I surely could not blame her I was quite confused myself. Although I requested food she just looked at me and walked out. "Well that was rude" I thought. Moments later the doctor walked in with the nurse and he too just looked at me and walked out. The nurse remained this time and smiled hesitantly at me.

"Can you contact the family?" the doctor said as he returned. "Are you feeling okay ?" he asked. Why the hell would he ask that after just looking at me? "Well yeah, a bit hungry though" I said. "Alright your family will be here shortly" he added. Nobody seemed to want to offer me food. "Can you see through this eye?" he asked pointing his light at my right eye. "Yes why?" I asked. He instructed the nurse to fetch a mirror and after her return with it he gently faced it at me. My right eye was pitch black.

"We came as fast as we could!" my mother said. I watched as her eyes widened and her lower jaw dropped. Panic filled the room and the standing humans within it started wandering about. My father was not here which was not surprising. Ever since I told my family I liked girls they distanced themselves from me as if I was never part of them. I got used to their absence in my life and it was quite the shock to see how fast my mother made her way to the hospital. I just lay there and gazed back at the ceiling fan listening to the argument that had suddenly broke out. My baby sister came to the bedside and held my hand. Her eyes were glistening and by just the look of this I was reduced to tears. "You will be okay right?" she asked. She was only 4 and I could only imagine what misery this situation must have brought her.

Knock knock knock. It was Emily at the door and she successfully silenced the room which now faced her like a pack of hungry wolves. "Good evening" she softly said and slowly walked in drawing more attention to herself. She wore a white Nike T-shirt with a red plaid flannel shirt tied around her waist, black shoes and ripped blue jeans. What was she doing here? and with her presence here does that mean people at school know about what is happening? My father arrived and everybody made their way out to meet him while I remained with Emily. "How are you Foster?" she asked and my heart dropped. I did not respond and just looked back at the ceiling. The ceiling fan had become my close friend. She pulled up a chair for herself and sat by the bedside and turned my head to face her. "It'll be okay" she said. "Why did you come here?" I asked.

"Well .... are you okay?" she said as she stood up. "Why did you come here!" "Why did you come here!!!!!!". The cross in the distance slowly turned upside down and my parents along with the doctor quickly rushed in. "The clock ticks slowly but time passes quickly" the demonic voice spoke. Both my eyes pitch black they resolved to restraining me once more. They were planning on putting me to sleep when the lights went out. In darkness everybody did not move. The emergency lights came on shortly after and I was standing by the doorway, looking directly at these poor souls who were basically helpless. "Clock ticks slowly but time passes quickly" I repeated. The door slammed shut closing them inside. The icy numbness of the tile awoke my body. I gradually made my way to the entrance with eyes staring right at me in confusion. A step away from the door I went numb. My body shook and dropped in a snap of a finger. "Not on my watch" a voice spoke behind me. I lay flat on my back and noticed a security guard hovering over me.
