Finally Some Answers

11/8/4999

The next morning when Jessica woke up she yawned loudly and her phone beeped in response to let her know she had a message waiting for her. She checked and it was from Jacob.

"Hey Jessica we found out where you need to go to enter the password and hopefully finally answer all of the questions we need answers to," Jacob stated simply, "Come on in when you are ready."

Jessica nodded and put her phone down completely calm for a moment. Then her parents heard her hooping and hollering for joy. She jumped up and down on her bed after picking Purdy up.

"Today is a great day to wake up as Jessica Jesse Janeway Strongwell the third," She shouted at her cat who was overjoyed that she was happy but a little irritated that it was happening this early in the morning.

"Why in the hellscape are you being so loud?," Her mother asked walking into the room wearing an apron.

"MOMMY!," Jessica jumped off her bed and hugged her so tight and so fast Mrs. Strongwell almost felt like she would pop.

"What is going?" Mr Strongwell who had finally selected a new pair of frames asked walking into the room.

"DADDY," Jessica screamed letting go of her mother and squeezing the life out of him.

"Jessica, let your father breathe child," Mrs. Strongwell said once she could herself again.

Jessica let her father go and spun around in circles.

"I thought it would take my entire life time but here I am about to find all the answers to nearly five thousand cycle old questions! All before my 18th cycle!" Jessica said clapping.

Her parents glanced at the calendar on there phones. That day was approaching far too fast in their eyes. Just under two months left.

Jessica ran down the stairs cleaning her clothes and fixing her hair as she went. She grabbed a breakfast sandwich from the fridge and heated the sausage like meat with a small spell. She ate it quickly and grabbed a blue banana shaped fruit from the bowl on the island and ported to the committee building.

Raymond was sleeping on a holo bed in the conference room and Jimmy and Amarilla were talking to each other at the table. Jacob walked in and greeted her warmly. The other committee members were alert to her presents and gathered.

"I haven't known you people very long but thank you for joining me on this journey," Jessica said her voice full of hope.

"There is one small issue with the control panel," Jacob said pulling up the model Raymond had rendered the night before.

Jessica glanced at it and nodded, "I don't see any issue. Now that I know what to aim for I will hit my target no problem."

The committee members were about to voice their objections when she disappeared dropping the now empty blue peel on the table.

Mae walked in carrying a space suit she had spent the night crafting by hand. Zerek stood up and just gave her a small soft sad hug. Mae who was the first Karthing to ever travel to space had been named after the first 'Africa-American' female of Earth the achieve the same. She had done it the first night the Fae appeared when they were star gazing that night. She wanted a closer look and was suddenly in space. Not fully understanding her teleport powers she had flown back down when she was done looking around.

Jessica was facing out looking at her own solar system one star severing as the sun and one planet with no moon serving as her home. From the windows along the side of the asteroid she could see it all. Instinctually or out of habit she said, "Lights on."

The room immediately filled with light you could actual see by and Jessica breathed a sigh of relief. Clearly who ever had designed the dungeons on Karth had not touched this place.

"Hello," Jessica called out.

"Welcome Jessice Jesse Janeway Strongwell the third. My name is Serenity and I need your help," A female voice said.

"Serenity like from the stupid password?" she asked wrinkling her nose in disgust.

"Yes exactly," the voice answered.

"Are you Karth's main operating system?," She asked with the last little bit of hope she had left.

"Yes, I am," Serenity answered.

"Then shouldn't your name be Karth?," Jessica asked.

"I have asked the administorer to change it but he is a bit stupid," Karth answered.

"Please display the admin password change on one of these screens," Jessica asked politely. She faced a wall of screen with a few chairs sitting in front of them opposite the windows.

"Here you go," Karth voice responded sounding relieved.

Jessica entered the old password and selected a new one in her mind language it was simply GetFuckedThisIsMyPlanet in about a thousand different languages all jumbled together. She hit enter.

"Welcome new administrator," Karth replied.

"First things first what the hellscape is draining you?," Jessica asked her most urgent question first. Gotta fix the planet before you do detail work she thought.

"The admin on Earth has a time variance set between the two planets," Karth said pulling up and showing Jessica it was set to 1 day Earth 1,000 years Serenity.

Jessica changed it to 1 sec Earth and 1 sec Serenity and that bugged the crap out of her.

"Be a doll and change your name to Karth, please," Jessica said.

"With pleasure," Karth responded.

"Is the old admin still online?," Jessica asked not wanting the answer to be yes but needing the answer.

"Yes, he is he just went to the bathroom," Karth informed her.

"Call him with a video chat please," Jessica asked sweetly.

"Connecting you to Watanabe Sora, relevant details he 19 Earth years old, blood type A, he is 171.2cm tall, a graphic design student who uses he free time to play games, current goals include improving his english and writing an epic video game" Karth rattled off as the call rang.

"You have reached, Sora," A young man answered he was the spitting image of the Q's if they wore their hair like a shaggy dog.

"Hi there, Assbitter," Jessica said.

"Oh cool your eyes look like the Fae from my game. Though mine only have 4 wings not six," Sora said excitedly.

"What?," Jessica asked confused and Karth showed her a mirror image of herself. "Karth put that one a note for me to deal with later please."

"Certainly, Jessica," Karth replied.

"Listen up you touch one more key and I will kill you," Jessica told him.

"What are you talking about?" Sora asked stunned that this strange girl had not only called him but was now threatening his life he tried to end the call.

"DUMBASS DO YOU THINK I AM DONE TALKING TO YOU!," Jessica screamed her hair on fire.

Sora jumped back from the computer nearly falling out of his chair.

"My name is Jessica Jesse Janeway Strongwell the third I am a citizen of the planet Karth," Jessica told him putting her hair fire out.

"How, how are you talking to me? Those are just video game characters," Sora said. He did know the Strongwell name it had popped up on his screen enough times.

"No, dumbass, I suggest you turn on the news," Jessica could see his tv and switched it on.

A woman on the screen was pleading into the camera for information on her missing foster child. Sora watched and said, "English is my second language and even I can tell she is faking."

"That isn't the relevant detail, Dummy," Jessica said getting his eyes back on her.

"Oh yeah what is?," Sora asked.

"Look at the scrolling words under her," she said.

They read:

Day 5 and the count of the missing keeps rising an estimated 300k people have suddenly disappear from America, Canada and England.

"That number and those places mean anything to you?," Jessica asked waiting for some sign that he understood.

Sora sat there slack jawed pointing at the words and then at Jessica.

"Yeah, you kidnapped a whole bunch of people," Jessica said ,like she was talking to a child or her cat.

"No one will know it was me if I destroy my computer," Sora said reaching for it.

"DID YOU JUST THREATEN KILL EVERYTHING I LOVE TO SAVE YOURSELF" Jessica shouted opened a stable wormhole between them and stepping through seeing the computer was a laptop she grabbed it and the rock like harddrive plugged into it. She looked around. "Where is the charging cable?"

Sora pissed his pants and pointed at the bed she flipped back a cover and grabbed it.

"I will be back to punish you," Jessica swore an oath at him, "FUCK YOU." She took the computer and stepped back through the wormhole and sat back in front of the Karth computer. She started to process what had just happened. "Did I just?" she started looking at the laptop in her hands.

"Ok putting that on hold. If only 5 days have passed on Earth…. Karth is revive possible?" Jessica asked.

"Yes but I need at least an hour before I can start casting the spell needed," Karth replied.

"Show me the spell," Jessica said ordering her with a tone of authority for the first time.

"Here it is," Karth replied the entire wall covered in symbols and numbers.

"If someone died of old age they will be revived at the age they came here as or at 13 if they were born here. They can change their age in settings," Jessica read. She ported to the cave of the dead next her OG. Jesse Strongwell's long dead body perfectly preserved, grey hair on his head and wrinkles around his eyes. He had died from old age after living a long wonderful life. She took a deep breath and cast the spell.

He woke up a 32 year old man again. He gasped for air.

"It worked, I revived you," Jessica said.

"A new Fae," Jesse asked tilting his head.

"Nope, I am one of your direct descendants it has been 5 thousand cycles here on Karth," Jessica said, "However, only 5 days have passed on Earth. You can still go save them."

"That is a lot to take in all at once," Jesse replied.

Jessica pulled his wand from her everbag and handed it to him. " I am not sure if you still have magic or if your core was also damaged in the blackout," she pulled out a steel bar and phazed it into the handle. "That should be enough for a few spells to actually work on Earth." She pulled up a holo image of Earth. "Point to where you need to go," Jessica said. She plucked a strand of hair from her head and fashioned into a bracelet. "When you finish your mission break that and I will open a passage near you to return." She tossed a set of M.U.G. gear at him.

He quickly put on the clothes not sure why they were a priority right now.

"Young lady, are sure it has only been 5 days on Earth?," Jesse was confused. His heart filling with hope that he could in fact fix his last remaining regret.

"As sure as I am that my name is Jessica Jesse Janeway Strongwell the third last of the Strongwell line," Jessica said. Jesse, hearing her say her own name believed her and pointed on the globe were he needed to go. She opened a wormhole and he stepped through it. Jessica waited with her end opened and didn't move for nearly 3 days. On the second day people around her began reviving and looking around. They did not approach her.

"Who was that?," One man asked someone close to him.

"Not sure but judging from her appearance I am guessing we have her to thank for us being alive again," A woman answered. The man turned back to go say thank you and everyone else stopped him.

"She is clearly busy with something," Another man told him, "Leave her be. We can thank her later."

Finally she felt the bracelet break and she opened the wormhole next to him. Jesse came through blood dripping from a gunshot wound on his shoulder and 5 young girls huddled together with the M.U.G. shirt and jacket draped over their backs followed him. Jessica nearly stepped through the portal to kill who ever shot her grandpa.

"Second Law Jessica," He said to her as he saw her move forward. She closed the portal and called Dr Smith. Dr. Smith showed up with in a minute and sprayed an adhesive onto the wound. The bleeding stopped and she feed him a potion the restore his blood supply. He was wearing a kevlar vest that had stopped two other gunshot. Jessica scanned a read out from the shirt and jacket it was a good thing he had used it on them but she said nothing. He would need surgery later but for now he would live. Doctor Pepper Smith turned her attention to the young girls. They were malnourished and had on only stained white shirts and dirty socks she started to cry softly.

"Oh, sweet babies," Dr Smith said wrapping her arms around them.

"Are we safe now?," one of the girls squeaked out.

"Yes," Jesse answered them, "This is the magical place I told you about. No one will hurt you here."

Jessica breathed a sigh of relief, "OG grandpapa," she addressed Jesse, "Call me when you have gotten these girls settled and do not fight Dr Smith she will win." She then teleported away. She went to the committee building.

The place was packed with people from the dungeon and doctor's sharing the "discovery" of a plant that would cure the cursed tissue.

Jessica pulled out her phone "Call Karth," She ordered like she had thousands of times before this time however was different this time the call connected.

"Hello Administrator," Karth answered.

"I take it you have your magic back now?," Jessica asked.

"Yes I have begun reviving the OG's that left behind urgent business on Earth and connecting them to the people they needed to talk to," Karth replied.

"Smart cookie," Jessica said with a smile. No one around her batted an eye at her eyes. Though a few people bowed slightly in her direction, "Um, Karth why are people bowing to me?"

"You are the Goddess of Karth now after all," Karth causal informed her.

"That isn't funny," Jessica said.

"It isn't a joke," Karth told her.

"I'll be back soon in the meantime would you please create an avatar profile for yourself to use on the holoprojectors," Jessica replied tired.

"Really?!?," Karth squealed like a little girl.

Jessica laughed and hung up.

She walked into the conference room. Everyone was talking all at once.

"Hello everybody," Jessica said taking a seat.

"Jessica, what the hellscape did you do? You got named Goddess of Karth and disappeared for 3 days!," Jimmy said running over and hugging her.

"Mostly I stood perfectly still until Jesse Strongwell got back from Earth," Jessica said and winked at him.

"Oh did he get those girls to safety?," Jimmy asked. Everyone on Karth knew that their greatest hero had left behind unfinished business on Earth that he regretted until the day he died.

"He brought them here," Jessica replied.

Jimmy nodded, "Good no one here will ever hurt them and maybe they can heal."

Jesse Strongwell had actionable intel on a human trafficking ring and when he told his former superiors about it they had blown him off. He had been on his way to an airport when he suddenly awoke on Karth. It was a great sense of relief to Jessica that she had the power to almost anything and the first thing she did was let him finish his last trip into battle back on Earth. The nerves in his back had been damaged by an IED explosion and he was losing the feeling in his legs when he first arrived here and soon after he was cured. He lived his life as a man on a mission and Karth was the better for his being there. He just wished he could have saved those girls he saw in a photo that he carried in his pocket always.

"A lot of really fucked up shit happens on Earth," Amarilla said nodding, "It is good that he was able to save those he had on his list to save."

Jessica snored softly. Everyone in the room looked at her surprised. They continued working around her for the next four hours. She woke up with her stomach growling so hard it shook her whole body. She sat up and looked around. Things had calmed down considerably. Jimmy and Amarilla were the only ones left in the room.

"So it looks like a Goddess still needs sleep then huh," Jimmy remarked.

"And has a very growly tummy," Amarilla added.

"Are things running smoothly?," Jessica asked.

"We are still trying to fix up the Cities of Hope," Jimmy informed her.

"Why do they need fixing again?," Jessica asked her mind not keeping up for some reason.

"That frog head stole the money that was supposed to be used for their upkeep. I don't know why," Jimmy said. Looking at her, her new eyes did more than gleam they light up so bright for a second Jimmy had to close his. When he blinked he could see spots.

"See ya," Jessica said and ported home. Her mother handed her a something that looked like a cookie and tasted like a cookie but in reality was packed with vitamins and 3,000 calories to restore her hp. Jessica knew what it was and ate the large thing in two bites. She saw on the kitchen island her mother had baked dozens. She grabbed all of the cool ones eating them quickly. After about a dozen she used her magic to put the rest into her everbag. Her mother wanted to say something but was in shock.

"OG grandpa got shot on Earth he is with Dr Smith," She shouted to her dad and teleported to the asteroid again. She continued to pull them out and eat as she talked.

"Hi Karth," Jessica said taking a seat.

"Jessica you should get some more sleep," Karth advised her.

"I will I just have two things I want to do first," Jessica said, "Well, 3 maybe 4 actually."

"Oh and what would those be?," Karth new of hundreds of things that need to be done. She was curious which of these was the most important to the person who had finally freed her.

"First as admin I grant you the planets A.I. admin privileges," Jessica said, "You know the things that have been overlooked better than I do. Second tell me what happened to the Fae and Third tell me how to undo an Emerald wish."

"Thank you," Karth said thinking so this is what freedom truly means, and started working on things she had alerted the former admin to but was ignored, "The Fae where given a system update when they teleported making them ethereal. The dumbass as you call him had wanted them that way from the start. He is also the cause of the Blackout when the Fae stopped teleporting he picked one and tried to force an update."

"Ok well backtrack the update and kill the command," Jessica said. She said still digging food out of her bag and eating. The 7 missing Fae appeared behind her, "Holy shit you guys scared the crap out of me!"

"You shouldn't be too surprised we have been following you closely your whole life," One said.

"And helping your magic to grow in strength," The MOD said.

"You know about the hatchling right?," Jessica said looking at her. This is probably why I am a mutant she half thought.

"Yes she is adorable," MOD said.

"It is now safe for Fae to teleported," Karth said to her and sent out an alert. The twins of Arholo's clan appeared having received the coardants and done so immediately.

"Only one left to go," Jessica stated and Karth understood.

"His core is still inside of me undoing the damage will take a moment," Karth informed her.

"I thought that's what happened," Jessica sighed in deeply relieved.

"In the meantime, you should know that the 50th dungeon is scheduled to be built on the first of next year," Karth told her.

Jessica thought for a second, "Can we change what it will be like?"

"Yes what would you like instead of the unkillable Golden Griffon?," Karth asked.

"That is a joke right?," Jessica pinched the bridge of her nose cursing Sora.

"I do have a suggestion if you would like to hear it," Karth said.

"Go for it, honey," Jessica said pretty sure she would like anything that was not stupid as all hellscape. She reached into her ever bag and finding no more cookies and craving meat she pulled out her bag of milkworm skins. She ate them whole. The hunger she felt was unlike anything that had come before.

"Might I suggest the new space not be a dungeon at all but a greenhouse?," Karth asked.

"Sounds good so far, explain," Jessica said tossing the empty bag aside and pulling out another.

"I would make it so that the element called magic can not enter the spaces air and that it would have soil and food from Earth to grow and be actual apple's rather than almost apple's," Karth said, "I couldn't do anything about it before."

"Go to town," Jessica said liking the sound of it. She really liked the peppermint sticks and wanted to see what else Earth had to offer. Finding the bag was already empty she pulled out her bag of medicines and began eating her entire stock.

"Thank goodness," Karth said, "The pull the dark elve's have been feeling every 100 years was those stupid fucking things being built."

"I take it you started fighting back about 1000 years ago?," Jessica said hoping he really hadn't created 9 dungeon in a row that were all boss battles.

"No I did not," Karth said, "It was not in my power to do so."

Jessica just shook her head. The herbs and roots all gone. She grew frustrated I am running out of time! She made a small spell and told everything that could be consumed in her bag to breakdown and get in her mouth already. She lifted the bag up and a stream of crumbs and liquid poured out she let it flow until there was no more.

"The slain Fae is now ready to revive," Karth informed her a moment later. Jessica threw the useless bag aside and opened a wormhole to her fridge she grabbed the large glass bottle of milk and washed down the last of crumbs. She finally felt less like an empty pit.

"Yippee," Jessica said. She called a 360 cam out off her everbag. Wiping her milk stache on her sleeve she turned around. The 3rd Q appeared as he had when he first arrived on Karth a small boy of about 6 years and looked very confused.

"Going live," Karth said not needing directions focusing on Jessica's face and alerting the whole world. When all eyes were on her Jessica decided to be a bit cheeky.

"This is the lord your goddess I command you to worship me," She shouted in a thunderous roar. Then her face broke out in a smile. "I am just fucking with you, please don't." Jessica sat back and said "Look who I found." in playful sing song voice. Karth pulled back the camera and panned over the 10 Fae. "Also if you didn't see the alert Fae are now safe to travel by teleport so don't freak out if they do it." As she said this the Q's took the freedom to teleport to their brother. They took their place on either side of him and held his hands. He regrew to his adult body in front of an amazed Jessica.

"Hey, how come he gets to grow up in a minute and I get stuck with gold eyes?" Jessica said a little offended. The Q's walked to her and each placed a hand on her. She connected with them and they showed her how to access her settings.

INCOGNITO MODE

Jessica didn't want gold or silver eyes so she selected incognito. She opened her eyes and looked around. No one gave her any indication of what had happened so she pulled out her mirror and looked. Sighing with relief that her eyes were hazel again.

"Jessica Strongwell what are you doing here? Where is the Goddess?," MOD asked her.

"Is that a joke?," Jessica asked confused.

"No, Sora designed it so that incognito mode makes your unrecognizable, like superman as Clark Kent," Karth said. She could see how angry that made Jessica, I thought that one was actually kind of neat, Karth thought.

"Can I had a natural option?," Jessica asked wanting to rip the morons head off, then you name it something else for crying out loud.

"One moment," Karth said writing the code for her, "Ok try again."

Jessica closed her eyes and accessed her settings again. This time she selected normal.

She opened them again looked in the mirror hazel eyes staring back.

"MOD who am I?," Jessica asked.

"You are Jessica Strongwell the new goddess of Karth." MOD replied.

"Thank goodness," Jessica said she couldn't take much more of Sora's moronic ideas.

"The wish you wanted to deactivate is now ready to be undone. Where would you like the emerald returned to?," Karth asked her.

Jessica stretched her neck and her wings unfurled they were gold. Jessica accessed her setting and made them black with purple veins. "Just give it to me for now," Jessica said replying to Karth.

The emerald appeared in front of Jessica. Last week she would have fought with herself internally as to which wish to make, today she knew exactly what to use it for. Jessica looked at the Fae who were all still there.

"Guys, go home already your families have waited long enough," Jessica said cracking her neck again. "Oh, Karth one more thing before I fall asleep," Jessica said losing her vision, "Could you write a detailed report on everything sora did with the cu….." She fell to the floor. The Q's whose family was not been waiting had stayed they quickly teleported her the hospital near her home when they couldn't find a pulse.

"JESSICA HAS NO PULSE!" They yelled in unison scaring the crap out of everyone that heard them.

The health monitor pad under her on the bed they had placed her on didn't even acknowledge she was there. The doctors started to rush to her aid but her body started spinning out an unknown fiber, within 5 minutes her body had disappeared into a large cocoon that raised itself and attached itself to the ceiling. Suddenly a 7 foot tall light blue elf with green hair and brown highlights was standing in the room just behind the Q's. They glanced at her.

"Oh" "hi" "Karth" they said staring at the cocoon.

"Well this is new," Karth said. She kept the live feed running at the asteroid and when the Q's had teleported Jessica she followed. She didn't know what was happening but she was willing to play the odds all of her people needed to see it.

Suddenly the cocoon shook and a small hole formed at the bottom. The clothing Jessica had been wearing squeezed out. The hole closed again. A doctor moved a scanner in front of the cocoon to have a look inside. There was nothing but fluid. Theories were bounced around but the only one that made any kind of sense was that Jessica was undergoing a metamorphosis. They keeper the scan going but within an hour the outer layer of the cocoon was producing so much magical interference they could no longer see inside.

Karth went to the committee building were the think tank Jessica had gathered were discussing the revitalizing efforts of the Cities of Hope.

"What are you people doing?," Karth was shocked.

Jimmy looked at her like she had asked one of the stupidest questions he had ever heard.

Zerek stood up, " We are doing our job, Karth." In all truth she appeared exactly the way most of her people had always pictured her in their minds. Blue like a dark elf but a light blue. Tall and elegant with human like facial features. They had half expected her to carry a large axe on her back but that was just not what she was wearing at the moment. She was wearing one Jessica's favorite outfits and that made sense too.

"Jessica is," Karth started but they all held up a hand to stop her.

Jacob decided to explain, "You do know why Jessica brought all of us together right?"

"To help her save me," Karth replied.

"No," Jacob said shaking his head.

"Then why?," Karth asked crossing her arms.

"We are here in case she couldn't," Piper said calmly.

"To take up the cause if she fails and support her efforts however we can," Westley said.

"Look at me Karth, I am 10. Do you think Jessica was really counting on my help?," Jimmy said.

"She set it up so even if we couldn't match her mind or her magic alone," Abby said.

"There would still be hope if she failed," Dzvezda said.

"She didn't fail," Karth said, "She found me and set me free."

"What was the first thing she did when she started shoveling all that food down her mouth," Mrs Strongwell asked walking into the room.

Karth turned to look at her, "She granted me admin privileges."

"Why do you think that of all the things she wanted to do that that had suddenly become her number one priority?," Mr Strongwell asked taking a seat at the table next to his wife.

"Shouldn't you two be freaking out and at the hospital right now?," Karth had observed these people their whole lives and their behavior made no sense.

"The last place I should be, is near that cocoon," Mrs Strongwell said fire forming a halo around her head.

"Honey, no fire magic inside," Mr Strongwell said tapping her shoulder.

" What is wrong with you people?," Karth asked frustrated.

"At the moment my daughter ate the messed up and dangerously high in caloric value to be safe to consume cookies I made accidently. She then apparently ate every bit of food from her everbag including no less than 7 bags of milkworm skins each of those contain 1.5 million calories each. She then collapsed and then formed a cocoon around herself and turned to goo," Mrs Strongwell said frowning.

"Whatever is happening to her is clearly taking a lot of physical and magical energy," Mr Strongwell added referring to the magic blocking the scanner.

"If we interfere we could hurt her," Mrs Strongwell said determined that her daughter, her precious miracle child could survive anything.

"Okay but shouldn't you just, like be there for her?," Raymond asked from the corner.

"WHEN my daughter gets out of that cocoon, what do you think she would do to us if we spent the entire time staring at it? What do you think she would say if we put everything on hold and waited for her?," Mr Strongwell said looking at the stranger questioning him.

Karth started nodding finally getting it.

"I only met her the one time but I would assume she would not be pleased," Raymond said.

"That is an understatement," Peter said walking into the room.

"What Jessica always wanted for Karth to be free from the former admin. For you to no longer be drained and for things to be set right," Mrs Strongwell said, "She worked in secret to make sure that it would happen. She hates hiding things and lies but she did all of that to ensure she would accomplish her goal. She got us to the starting line and now we need to take up the cause and finish it."

"This is the starting line?," Karth asked wouldn't this be the finish line?

"Of course it is," Jimmy said, "The race didn't even begin until she took control of our planet's future away from an outside force."

"It is now our job to ensure that it one she would be proud of," Jacob said, "Yes, it would be nice if she could help out and keep things going at lighting fast speed but she can't do that right now."

"Karth is still turning and its people need places to eat, to sleep, to work and to play," Jacob said.

"We are the committee that she chose to be in charge if she should die," Madigan said, "She didn't even have to say it but without knowing what was going on, she truly believed this mission could kill her."

"It didn't as far as we know and even if it had we would still have to keep moving forward," Mr Strongwell said a little relieved, "My daughter has done a lot of amazing things in her life. She is undergoing some radical changes and we don't know what they might be but the world is also going through its own metamorphosis."

"We have to ensure that the changes are the right ones for our future," Karth said agreeing, " I look forward to working with you all."

Karth took a seat at the table and a few more people came in. They talked for hours about the things in the dungeon, the people being revived, and what to do about the fact that some of them were not going to be too pleased Jessica had managed to open and go through their things while they were 'dead'. There was a lot of work to be done and the people of Karth got on with the business of living this thing that they called life.

Back in the hospital on the bed under the cocoon there was one creature on Karth who could and would stand vigil until she emerged. Purdy leapt onto the bed and curled up not quite under the cocoon as her slimy clothes had yet to be removed. He faced the world with a watchful eye and guarded the unmoving object that was his charges cocoon.
