Cold And Distant

The next morning, Kang Min Hyuk woke up with a throbbing pain in his forehead. He examined the surrounding and what happened yesterday resurfaced in his brain. He whined as the pain began to increase even more.

Removing the blanket which was surrounding his legs, he stood upright and dragged himself to the kitchen. Drinking really made his head turn into a turmoil.

As he entered inside the kitchen, he heard a cheerful voice. "Oh! You are awake?"

Ji Ah was just gonna go and wake him up but before she did, Min Hyuk was already standing behind her. With a smile on her beautiful face, she took a small bowl which was filled with some liquid and walked close to him. "Here! Drink this. It is a hangover soup." She smiled again and gave the soup to Min Hyuk.

Min Hyuk drank the soup. After drinking it, he felt a little calm. "Thank you!" He said and placed the bowl in the sink. Standing over there, he watched Ji Ah preparing the breakfast. He keenly observed her with warm and gentle eyes. Ji Ah had worn a pink apron above her blue nightdress. She was cutting the carrots while humming a song. A smile came upon his lips.

As the words of his boss' came in his mind, his smile vanished and the gentle and warm look in his eyes had turned dark. For a second, he didn't even know why he remembered his boss' condition.

Yes, It was true that he wanted to be the CEO of D&M but there was no way.. that he was gonna be a CEO by selling his wife! Or, so he thought...

After what they both told one another last night, Ji Ah was thinking that Min Hyuk would come and hug her from behind. But she was surprised to see him go. As she saw his retreating back, she asked "You will go for work today?" and his agreement almost shocked her.

Min Hyuk used to take leaves even if he had experienced a slightest bit of pain or worry only to spend time with his beloved wife... And today, he had the worst condition yet, he was willing to go? Ji Ah felt a little heartbroken. Nevertheless, she just kept her feelings aside and quickly prepared breakfast for him.

Time passed by, Min Hyuk wore a white shirt and a navy blue pant. He pulled his hair to the side and took one last look in the mirror. Although, he wasn't feeling like going for work he decided to go.

After what his superior asked him yesterday, he felt that it was better to go for work rather than skipping it. After all, a good impression helps in getting all the work done!

Ji Ah placed his breakfast on the dining table and saw him coming out of his room. Like a young teen, she jumped towards him and approached with a smile. "You look good!" She complimented him and stretched her hand to push a strand of hair which was lying on his forehead.

When Min Hyuk saw the hand coming, he diverted his face and walked past her towards the dining table. Stopping over there for a while, he then walked off towards the main door.

Ji Ah was completely taken aback by his actions. Her feelings were starting to take a toll on her. She again pushed her feelings aside as she saw him wearing his shoes.

She rushed towards him and asked "You are leaving this early?" It was still 7:45am and work used to start at 9.

Min Hyuk again replied vaguely and wore his shoes. He checked his pockets making sure that everything was kept inside and opened the door to leave when Ji Ah stopped him. She tugged his sleeve and asked in a low voice afraid that he would scream or yell at her.

Min Hyuk turned around to see her. With an arched brow, he stared at her frightened face and she quietly walked near the sofa and got hold of his bag. Reaching over, she gave it to him "You forgot your bag."

Min Hyuk gave a nod and hung the bag over his shoulder and walked out of the house without taking another look at Ji Ah.

'What was this? Was he in some kind of urgency? Why did he just go without eating his food?' Too many questions started evolving in Ji Ah's brain as she recollected his cold behavior towards her. Last night, he was asking her to not go and today, it felt like as if he was disgusted by her touch.

Ji Ah walked over the dining table and stared at the food kept on the white plate. Today, she had made his favorite mustard flavored chicken sandwiches yet, he didn't eat! That was surprising.

"Why did he become so cold since today?" She asked to herself and covered the sandwiches by wrapping a plastic wrap on it. Opening the fridge, she kept them inside and went to her room to get ready.

Standing in front of the mirror, she stared at herself. She touched her tired face which had barely slept a wink last night because she was worried to see Min Hyuk in a state she hadn't witnessed before. Later at 4 in the morning, sleep had come in her eyes and she had slept but the irritating alarm voice woke her up at 5.

With droopy eyes, she had cooked his favorite breakfast yet, he acted cold and distant. The person who used to cling on her everyday like a koala was completely different today. He acted as if Ji Ah was someone unknown to him.

Ji Ah didn't realize when tears started erupting out of her eyes and flowed down her cheek. She again stared at herself and wiped them. It was useless to cry over something this small. She said to herself and went inside the washroom to take a bath.

Min Hyuk sat inside his office room in deep thoughts. He didn't know why he acted cold and distant towards Ji Ah, his ever so-loving wife. Ever since he had a talk with In Joon yesterday, his brain was not in its right state of mind. He pinched the space between his eyebrows as his eyes landed on the files piled up on his table.

He had to sign them all and send it to the CEO's room by today. He sighed. His mind wasn't in his right state and now, he had to sign all these papers.

Now that he had started with his cold treatment, he decided to take it more ahead of him. He got out of his room and while taking long strides, he stood in front of the CEO's room. He kept his hand on the door knob but hesitated to open the door. His legs started to shiver as he thought of why he was here or what for.

And without knowing anything, he just sat inside the CEO's room while staring down at the white marbled floor.

A masculine voice came from ahead of him and he looked upwards at the man seated elegantly on the comfortable chair like a king. He held a strong, possessive aura that made him look dominating.
