The Day They Lost Their Dreams

"LET'S DIVORCE!"

Da-Jung looked at the sender's name and was very much surprised to see Woo-Jin's name. Da-Jung had thought that maybe some of her friends were pranking on her just to scare her.... but after seeing Woo-Jin's name, she looked at it with an unbelievable look on her face.

This sudden sentence bought a chaos in Da-Jung's mind and she began to tremble. She immediately called Woo-Jin with shaky hands and the phone fell from her hand. As she was just about to pick up, her name was called on stage.

"Please put your hands together for, Byeon Da-Jung"

When Da-Jung heard the claps coming from the stage, she took the phone in her hand and called Woo-Jin again. "Please pick up and tell me what you mean, Woo-Jin Oppa! Stop joking!" She didn't pay any heed to the person who was calling her name again and again.

However, when someone came and asked her to go, Da-Jung walked to the stage still shaking. Her hands trembled as she began to adjust the mike to her level. And it looked like as if she had lost her color.

"I...I... am By...Byeon... Da-Jung. T...Today... I... I will be... sin...sing...singing...." Da-Jung stopped and looked at her parents who were looking with happiness in their eyes. How she wished that she had not seen that sentence and not even called him...

And as Da-Jung began to sing, the same sentence ran inside her head and she stopped singing midway.

"I'm sorry! I can't do this!" Da-Jung said and rushed backstage. As she walked backstage, the crowd, the judges everyone looked at each other in disbelief. A commotion started to occur and the host hurriedly walked in to bring in the next contestant.

Changing into her normal clothes, Da-Jung immediately walked out of the hall and met her parents.

"What happened, Da-Jung? Why did you not sing? Are you alright, my dear?" Da-Jung's mother touched her daughter's hand only to see her having goosebumps. "Oh my! Da-Jung... What is this? Why are you having goosebumps? My dear, why are you trembling?"

Hearing her mother's sweet voice, Da-Jung just wanted to say what she read just now on her phone but before doing so, she thought of getting all things confirmed first.

She knew it was just a joke. Nothing more!

"I have to be somewhere. I will call you guys later." Da-Jung hailed a cab.

"What do you mean by that, Da-Jung? Where do you have to go? Isn't this competition important for you?" It was her Dad who had held Da-Jung's hand, ask. He looked at her with worry on his face and Da-Jung noticed that.

Da-Jung took a deep breath and walked closer to the taxi. Opening the back door of the taxi, she said "This competition is important but I have something more important than this, Dad! I will call you guys later!" She waved her parents goodbye after telling the address to the driver.

Twenty-five minutes later, Da-Jung reached A University. As she progressed inside the building, she looked at the students who were just coming out of the building while discussing about the paper they had finished earlier.

Da-Jung hurriedly walked further only to see Woo-Jin walking alone. Seeing him brought a smile on her face and she instantly started crying thinking about the message he sent. She knew that he was joking and those were just tears of joy.

Da-Jung was glad that Woo-Jin didn't mean anything what he said and she quickly approached him. Catching Woo-Jin into a tight hug, Da-Jung cried. "I'm so in relief! Those words made me cry. I'm so happy to hug you and be with you again! Just don't say those words again!"

When Da-Jung didn't feel any response of her hug from Woo-Jin, she pushed him to an arm's length and looked at him with a worried expression on her face.

"How did the paper go? Did it not go well?" Seeing his dull face, Da-Jung thought that Woo-Jin's paper didn't go well and so, she asked him. She began to touch his face and tapped on the crease that was formed in between his brows.

"Why are you here?" Da-Jung had expected Woo-Jin to answer to her question with a smile and take her into a hug but she was very much surprised and broken-hearted to hear such a question from him. She stopped touching him and looked at him with her eyes wide open.

"Are you not happy to see me?" Da-Jung asked while lowering her eyes and doing a pout. She became a bit flustered with his sudden question and his angry glare.

"I told you already, Da-Jung. Didn't I make it clear through the text?"

"What... do you..." Her words got caught in her throat and she began to caress his cheek out of fear and anxiety. Droplets started to form in the corner of her eyes and she asked with a questionable look on her face "What do you mean, Woo-Jin Oppa? A divorce???"

Woo-Jin looked down at her and touched her hand that was on his cheek. "Because of your clumsiness, I was late and due to that I was not entered into the examination hall. I have to try it next year." He threw her hand away and yelled "And this is ALL BECAUSE OF YOU, BYEON DA-JUNG!!!"

He clenched his fists tightly as he tried his best to control his anger. He looked at the people who were looking and walking past them. He understood that he shouldn't yell and shout but just seeing her, it made him angry and he had to yell.

Hearing him, Da-Jung let out a sigh of relief. "That is okay, Woo-Jin Oppa! I will tell my Dad to help you with this exam... I know how much you like Journalism so, I won't let you waste your year..." 'The reason of the divorce was exam and this could be solved in a few minutes with my father's help.' Da-Jung thought and let out a smile. She again began to touch his face and caress his cheek. She felt bad that he was still angry at her.

Woo-Jin threw her hand away and growled at her "I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP" I WILL DO IT ON MY OWN!"

Da-Jung pouted and took out her phone. "Woo-Jin Oppa! How can you do that when you have your wife around, huh?" She began to tease him and poked him playfully at his stomach.

"Wait... let me call my father!" As Da-Jung took out her phone to call her father, Woo-Jin angrily snatched the phone from her hand and snapped at her. "CAN YOU JUST F*CKING STOP BEING SO CLINGY, DA-JUNG? I SAID I DON'T F*CKING NEED YOUR HELP SO, JUST STOP!"

With the loud voice, all the students who were passing by stood around them and began looking at them. They were curious and it felt like a great show for them to watch.

"Hey! Isn't that Yang Woo-Jin?"

"Ah! I heard that he wasn't able to write his paper today."

"Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! So bad! That is why you shouldn't get married at such a young age."

As the students recognized who the man was, they began to murmur...

Da-Jung was taken aback by his sudden behavior and she looked at the students who were murmuring with one another while looking at them. She gave a small smile and began to drag Yang Woo-Jin out of the building.

But it was of no use. Because as soon as Da-Jung touched his hand, Woo-Jin shrugged his hand from her hold and yelled again "STOP TOUCHING ME!"

"I... Just..." Seeing his red angry eyes, Da-Jung took a step back. It was her first time to see Yang Woo-Jin get so angry and yell at her. She had never seen Woo-Jin get angry. And seeing such a state of his, she began to tremble.

Her hands and legs both started to quiver and she found it hard to control her tears. Tears began to flow right through her eyes and Da-Jung took a look at the man who yelled and at the students who were murmuring about them.

"Can we… not... go home... and talk?" Even if Da-Jung was afraid and frightened by his cold hard voice, she thought that it was better to talk at home rather than talk in the university grounds.
