The Actual Owner

Thirty minutes later, Da-Jung reached home. She unlocked the door and went inside her room. Throwing her bag on the bed, she took a hot bath and came out wearing a bathrobe.

After sitting on the bed, Da-Jung took her phone in her hand and looked at her inbox searching for a message from JH Entertainment Company. Before giving the audition, Da-Jung was definitely sure that she would be chosen but after giving the audition... that too with Yang Woo-Jin as the judge, Da-Jung knew that the chances of her getting approved were less; considering how her behaviour was towards Woo-Jin.

As she looked at the mirror, she pouted "Can't you not give me one chance? If I get approved, it will be like hitting three birds with one stone. One will be my friend's job, another my own permanent job and the third one, being able to play the piano in front of millions of people. Can't you not select me?"

Maybe her prayers were heard or something and Da-Jung received a message from JH Entertainment Company - "We are much delighted to announce you as the selected contestant for Mr. Yang Woo-Jin's upcoming concert."

As Da-Jung read that, she bounced up and down with excitement. However, her excitement drained away the moment she received a call from her landlord.

It had already been more than two months since she paid the rent and right now, she had the rent of only one month. Seeing her mother working so hard, Da-Jung had bought an expensive gift for her mother which costed around six hundred dollars.

Her rent for two months was summed up to one thousand and fifty dollars but since she used six hundred dollars, she was only left with four hundred and fifty dollars. Already Da-Jung had taken a lot of time and now that she was only able to pay a month's rent, Da-jung was afraid. What if she was thrown out of this house?

Well, the landlord was a gentle person but still... she blamed at herself for buying something that expensive...Old habits die hard! Tapping her cheeks, Da-Jung shook her head and picked up the call.

"Hello?" She spoke in a weak voice.

"Can you come over to my house, Miss Byeon, I have some important matter to discuss with you?"

'Important matter? Is he trying to make me move out from the house?' Da-Jung asked herself. After saying that she would come, Da-Jung quickly changed her clothes and rushed downstairs to the ground floor.

Da-Jung lived on the third floor and the landlord lived on the ground floor. Since the elevator was busy, ahe had taken the stairs. With huffs and puffs, she rang the doorbell and when she saw the landlord, she immediately begged her hands.

"I'm so sorry, Mr. Kang! Please give me two more days and I will pay the entire rent. I'm just short of some money... I will get it soon and pay you the rent."

Mr. Kang who had called Da-Jung for another purpose was very much surprised by her behavior. The thing was Mr. Kang himself had forgotten that her rent was due but now that she herself told him about the rent, he made a note in his mind to write it in the paper which was to be given to the old owner.

Actually, the thing was that Mr. Kang was moving back to his province and so he decided to return the apartment to the old owner. Since the previous owner was now a very renowned personality it was very hard for Mr. Kang to get in touch with him.

Otherwise, he would have given this apartment to the previous owner much before Da-Jung began to stay here.

Da-Jung came to this apartment some five months before. Since it was near to the place where she was doing her internship, she decided to stay here. Well, if she had known that this apartment belonged to someone else instead of Mr. Kang, she really wouldn't have rented the flat.

Seeing Yang Woo-Jin seated inside the house of Mr. Kang, Da-Jung felt as if she was doomed. She felt as if her soul left her body and she was just standing still, unmoving.

"So... are you saying that Mr. Yang Woo-Jin, is the actual owner of this apartment?" She was still not able to believe that Yang Woo-Jin was the owner of this apartment. If she had known, she would have never come here in the first place.

"Yes."

Da-Jung lost her color as she held an 'I-am-doomed' expression on her face. She looked at the one-year agreement which was in her hand and opened her eyes wide when she realized that there were seven more months to go for one year to get over.

"Can I not leave the house now?" In a hushed voice, she asked Mr. Kang but guess, her voice was loud enough for Woo-Jin to hear.

He angrily pushed himself off the chair and took long strides towards her. Da-Jung gulped as she noticed him coming near and near. Snatching the paper from her hand, Woo-Jin made Da-Jung read the last line of the agreement which was about leaving the house prior the assigned date.

"Twice the annual rent?" Da-Jung roughly calculated the annual rent of two years in her mind and seeing a five-digit number made her world spin. She was in no condition to give such a double amount of money.

With a sly grin on his face, Woo-Jin leaned closer towards Da-Jung. "Say, are you willing to pay double the amount of one year rent, Miss Byeon Da-Jung?"
