Humans are similar to Clay

[Tin Roof Club, the staff room]

[[Blake]]

*THUD*

"That bloody hurt!"

"You need to work on your aerodynamics, Waylon." He gave me an angry glare.

"You could have teleported the entire vault without even going there."

I gave him the 'Are you serious look.'

"You ask me to join you on a mission after ages, and you expect me to 'poof' the vault without having fun." I materialized a soda can.

"Where did you get that?" Selina asked.

"Spatial manipulation, love." She rolled her eyes. "And damn… People are still as stupid as ever. This half mask still works? I didn't change my voice or even cover my hair, but I am pretty sure that they won't figure it out." A chuckle escaped me. "Just like in the past."

"Well, whatever."

[Hall of Justice]

"I cannot agree with that." Diana was annoyed at Bruce rejecting the idea.

"You know that they are 18 and above, they are adults and they can make their own decisions."

Bruce sighed at Diana's counter.

"I think that Bruce is right. They are still… just teens. True that they need their own freedom but you still have to supervise them." Clark rebutted.

Diana rolled her eyes. "You gave them a team, you gave them a leader… no need to monitor them 24/7, Bruce. Let them have some freedom and see if they can lead on their own."

Before joining the league, she was always under surveillance. So she hated the concept of spying over others.

Bruce ruminated the topic, until-

*THUD* *THUD*

"Ouch, that hurts."

"It does…"

"Batgirl? Supergirl?" Both Bruce and Diana asked simultaneously. "How did you get here?"

"You were supposed to guard the vaults… how did you end up here?" Clark seemed curious as well.

"We… well-"

"We failed." Barbara said before Kara could come up with an excuse.

Diana folded her arms. "Care to explain?"

"*Sigh* We miscalculated." Kara sighed.

"Elaborate."

"We thought that we were up against Catwoman and Killer Croc. But that wasn't the case. There was a third guy." Bruce raised an eyebrow.

"I didn't get any information about any third guy from my sources." He rubbed his chin. "Can you two explain how he looked, talked, what powers he used, and so on?"

"He had a white eye mask on his face, heavy British accent, a little over six feet and he had… some sort of teleportation powers." Clark and Diana looked at each other while Bruce seemed lost in thought.

"Any specific way in which he used his powers?" Barbara nodded at Clark's question.

"He could teleport anything to any location-"

"He can even use phasing." Kara chimed in.

This got all of their attention. "Phasing? Explain."

"When I tried punching him, my hand went right through him and it didn't harm him in any way." This got them concerned, but Bruce was concerned about two entirely different things. Once had him worried about their security and the other had him worried about… everything.

"His phasing is the least of our concerns right now." He sighed.

"What do you mean?" Clark asked with a raised eyebrow.

"This guy just teleported both of them to our base… our 'secret' base." Diana and Clark tensed. Having a strong enemy was one thing but having an enemy that knew your secrets was another.

"He is dangerous." All of them agreed to this statement.

'Only 'he' was the one that could use those abilities… well, not just him. But he was the one that could use phasing, teleportation, and had that white eye mask… but that's impossible. He vanished years ago.'

"Did you get his name or at least the moniker?" Barbara nodded.

"He said that his name was… Void."

"We... are in trouble!" Bruce's outburst made everyone within the room shocked.

[Sometime later]

[[Selina Kyle]]

"Nice view, isn't it?" He looked at me and then at the city.

"From the outside, even the most disgusting person looks beautiful… and this city is no different." *Sigh* He hasn't changed.

"You know that you can appreciate the beauty for at least once." He raised an eyebrow and then chuckled.

"Sweetie… You know that I hate this city. So there is no way that I am praising it." Now it was my turn to chuckle. "Beer?" He asked.

"Thanks." I said as I took the beer can from his hand… it was cold.

"Do you know why metals feel cold at first?" That's random.

"Because they are good thermal conductors." He had a calm smile on his face.

"Yes, it's because they absorb heat easily. You might think where I am going with this… correct?" I nodded and he shook his head with a sigh.

"This reference is generally used to describe cold people… who take time to warm up to you. But once they absorb enough warmth, they start making you feel comfortable." That's a good quote. "So, where do you think I am going with this?"

"Honestly… I have no clue." I told him the truth.

He didn't reply and kept looking at the view.

"Humans are the same as metals… they absorb things very easily, and by that, I am not only referring to feelings. Love, hate, good, evil… everything." He starts releasing his bottled up feelings once he is drunk. Looks like it is one of those times. But the things he says during this time… always hits hard.

"Humans are molded from a very young age. Be it by their parents, teachers, friends, or family… we are shaped by them." He chuckled. "Some might argue that it depends on you, your choices but in reality… The things we see and experience are the things that shape us."

He isn't wrong. If not for my past life, the things that I went through… I wouldn't have ended up like this.

"But I find it hilarious." This made me snap out of my stupor. "People end up as evil when they go through evil. But the ones that turn evil without suffering from any of that bullshit are the real trash."

There are many of those psychos in Gotham.

"Gotham is a shithole. A place where lives are ruined, a place where villains are made… but even then, it's far better than the place I was in." This piqued my curiosity.

"What do you mean… and now that you have mentioned it, where exactly have you been in these past couple of years." He scowled for a while but ultimately sighed.

I knew about him travelling around the world. But after a while… we lost contact.

"Well, that's enough discussion for one day." His beautiful blue eyes almost shone in the dark. "I should go and sleep, I don't want to be late on my first day at the job."

"*Giggle* True. I don't want to see you getting fired either."

"Very well." He stood up. "I am going to sleep. You should take some rest as well."

He would answer once he is ready. No point in forcing him.

"But… I just hope that you can move on from the past, Blake."
