Chapter Nineteen: The Great Forest

The world before the Great Destruction seemed to live beneath the leafy canopy of the oldest forest on Terros, existing in the liminal space between the tree trunks. The forest echoed with sounds of unseen animals, and birds that could only be glimpsed as flashes of color among the endless sea of green and brown. Fen could see crumbling remains of buildings, nothing more than the outlines left from the stone walls, vague hills in the forest floor no more than a hand's breadth above the thick layers of rotting leaves.
