Passing through the Old Town Hall my eyes caught something quite interesting, I asked Yura to stop for a moment, it turns out that there is a statue of Capulet Juliet. This statue was a gift of friendship from Italy in 1974 for the city of Munich. There is a twin tucked away in the city of Verona, Italy.
The statue is made of dark bronze, and depicts the figure of Juliet standing in a dress, with her left arm bent against her chest. The statue's right breast has turned gold, due to being touched by thousands of superstitious people. They believe that touching Juliet's breast, they will have good luck in love. Believe it or not, Yura and I didn't miss the chance to touch Juliet's bust. Sometimes the power of suggestion will bring that luck to you.
We stepped into an old three-story building with stained glass windows, the atmosphere inside the building was very busy, there were many long wooden tables full of visitors sitting and eating while chatting, looking at the classic, beautiful and well-maintained ornaments, in the middle there is a live show orchestral music performance with musicians mostly middle-aged making the classic nuance even thicker, not to forget the waiters wearing traditional Bavarian clothes making us feel sucked into the past.
This is the place we chose for lunch, Hofbrauhaus am Platzl, the historic and oldest restaurant in the city, which is also the location of the first brewery in Germany. We ordered two large glasses of beer, weisswurst sausage, bratwurst sausage, complete with sauerkraut.
"When exactly will you return to Korea?" I said with my eyes still exploring every corner of the room, there are paintings of fruits, vegetables, and breads carved beautifully in the restaurant ceiling. "I'll be back home on Saturday afternoon." She replied reluctantly with sadness in her eyes.
"There's still three days to go, you still have enough time to explore, would you like to go with me to Austria? We can spend a day in Salzburg and another day in Hallstatt or Vienna and come back on Friday afternoon". I asked while focusing on Yura.
"That's a great idea, but what about Valter?"
"He's quite busy this week, I'll go back and check with him and let you know tonight. If we can leave tomorrow" I said. "Alright sis". Yura said with sparkling eyes while sipping a beer. "Hey, don't call me sis, I'm not your 'Ahjumma'. I said with a glare, Yura giggled.
There is a feeling of sadness and longing in the corner of my heart, which is so difficult for me to describe when someone calls me sister, a figure that I have long dreamed of, I still remember vividly with my imaginary sister who accompanied my childhood and left when I was growing up, leaving me alone in silence. the silence depressed me.
We continued to walk around the city, there are always interesting sides in every corner of this city as if it never stops making us stunned. Encouraged by my intense curiosity, I pushed the large door and entered it, the exterior appearance of this room didn't provide any information from the outside, just sandwiched between the many shops and restaurants along the way, the atmosphere was mesmerizing since I first opened the door, I was at a loss for words, like finding a beautiful treasure trove in plain sight, this place is an 'Asamkirche', the church is small and narrow but has an extraordinary interior all with intricate carvings covered in gold.
There wasn't any empty space there. It was all filled with statues of angels, heart-shaped statues, skull statues, and other statues depicting the life of a saint, everything inside was covered in gold making everything sparkle with light. The atmosphere was so sacred and silent, it seemed like it had a thousand mysteries. no windows or stained glass in it, this place is very different. walking along the church aisle to the altar felt like walking in a work of art.
I fell in love from the first time I set foot in this city, as all the elements in this city have a mystical light that draws me into its circle. I was not in a dreamland and in full awareness living the beautiful feeling of being real. Quoting the words of the Nazi leader 'Adolf Hitler', "Munich is the closest to my Heart", maybe that is one of the similarities between me and the dictator regardless of his political views, of course. 'Munich is the closest city to my heart'.
I glanced at my watch, it was already 7:10 p.m. The cold air began to whisper softly, my cellphone died from running out of battery, I accelerated my footsteps after delivering Yura at the nearest train station, Valter might have come home and waited for me for dinner. I was so caught up in the cradle of Munich that I forgot to go back.
I opened the door of the room very slowly so that it didn't make a sound, stepped into Valter's apartment, it appeared that Valter was sleeping on the living room sofa, I was grateful that I didn't make a sound on the door that could startle Valter from his sleep. He looked so tired that he unconsciously fell asleep on the sofa with his work clothes still attached.
I brought myself closer and sat beside him slowly, I looked at him closely, his face that usually looks serious is now expressionless, carefree, so innocent. Various kinds of feelings burst when I looked at him, this shy man has feelings that are sincere, simple and what it is. I am not who he is, but he accepts me unconditionally, nor does he try to take over all my freedom. The only human being who understands me the most and all desires desire, thoughts of mine that I never spit out on others. He seemed to live in my veins, watching me wordlessly.
I got up from the sofa slowly, and walked slowly towards the room.
"Are you home?" Was Valter's voice from behind.
"Yes, I just came back. I'm sorry I've been out too long," I said, turning around and returning to the sofa. "There's nothing to be forgiven for, you have the right to visit Munich. I hope you feel at home here," he added, rising from his sleeping position, and sat next to me.
I stroked his slightly irregular hair, and gave him a quick kiss on his cheek while smiling.
"Wow, you just transferred great energy to me Jade." he replied smiling and took my hand in his. "From your behavior I can guess that you just had a pleasant experience with Yura."
"More or less like that." I said while playing with Valter's hand. "By the way, I want to ask for your blessing, if I can travel with Yura tomorrow to Austria?" I added again. "Of course. I hope you can be back here on the weekend, I want to take you to Frankfurt to visit my parents," Valter said agreed.
I hugged Valter, whispering "thank you, baby"
