The passage of Harp, Cello and Violin combined perfectly to create a classic symphony of Pachebel-Canon in D, adding to the wisdom of the atmosphere of the wedding blessing, me and my bridesmaid friends, groomsmen as well as the groom are lined up in front of the altar watching Mia. Mia looked at the groom as she walked slowly towards the altar accompanied by her grandfather, the only one family that Mia has.
Mia looks very beautiful and happy to walk gracefully in a white dress, holding a white rose bouquet in her hands. Smile after smile. It looks so perfect to be a part of this important moment with Mia. Watching Mia and Carl undergo the blessing process with wisdom and peace.
I couldn't help feeling happy to see the sacred moment taking place, the beautiful music playing, the audience who looked happy, the smile of the groom and the gazes of mutual love, the process of unifying love in a sacred bond.
"Congratulations on you marriage." I greeted Mia and Carl in turn, I also hugged and kissed Mia, Valter was beside me also congratulated Mia and Carl.
After the blessing, the atmosphere turned more casual, and the venue moved to the outside of the basilica. Mia and Carl held a wedding procession as well as a party at Schloss Johannisberg. The castle is equipped with a beautiful garden, a basilica room and manicured views of the vineyards of the Rhine valley. The decorations for the outdoor party are also neatly arranged, the long white tables are neatly lined up for the guests, music plays beautifully throughout the party, the best dishes from local German cuisine, complemented by a selection of delicious Riesling wines.
The bride and groom mingle among the guests, I was introduced to some of Mia's family, as well as Mia's friends who also attended the party, the bridesmaid photo shoot, the groomsmen were fun and full of laughter, the weather was so sunny in May.
Pranggg...
The sound of plates breaking, followed by everyone present, breaking plates and porcelain, the moment "polterabend" began, this is a community tradition that is quite unique in Germany. At that moment, the plates and porcelain will be smashed together. The bride and groom are expected to clean the broken plates together which shows that they are harmonious, cooperate and help each other in future married life. It can be said that this tradition brings good luck to the bride in navigating the household later. The tradition is also in line with the German expression, 'Scherben bringen Gluck' which means a fragments or shards brings good fortune.
The bride and groom will also perform the Waltz, which is an integral part of the agenda for a party in Germany, the bride then takes turns dancing with her grandfather, in-laws, or other relatives, followed by invited guests who enjoy the romantic atmosphere at the party.
"Want to dance with me?" Whispered Valter who was standing next to me.
"I don't think so, I don't understand how to dance," I said softly.
" Come on dear." He tried to persuade me. "I will teach you how."
"Hi Valter, long time no see, dance with me for a while." I saw someone start to pull Valter forcefully away. I was a little shocked, when a German woman I didn't know came out of nowhere and immediately cut our conversation and invited Valter to dance. Reluctantly, Valter danced while sending messages through his body language for me to wait a moment.
I stood waiting for him with a sullen feeling that I covered through my sweet smile, the woman who was with him looked beautiful, and aggressive, her body was tall, blonde haired, with a typical European face, looking more mature than me, maybe the same age as Valter.
I shook my head trying to get rid of the bad thoughts that always whisper to me to be jealous. Maybe it was a relative, or friend he knew while he was at college, trying to think positively. Three minutes passed, my eyes could not control the two of them, the woman seemed to deliberately rub her body towards Valter. Damn...
I turned my body quickly and intended to step away... My steps stopped, my eyes looked at the toes of the man's leather shoes, he was wearing a dark gray suit, I lifted my face quickly, in front of me the man smiled sweetly, his face was so familiar but this is the first time I've seen him, he stands holding the glass filled with wine in his left hand.
"Oh, sorry," I said politely, smiling at him, trying to show my politeness.
"You're the one named Jade, right?" he asked, still smiling.
"Yes. I'm Jade. You are?" I said confused.
We walked slowly parallel to away from the crowd of guests watching the waltz. "I'm George, Valter's brother number 3." he replied politely. Valter is the youngest of 4 children who are all men. Valter's brothers number 1 and 2 are married and play an important role in the family business, 3rd brother is a professional racer.
"Nice to meet you, George," I said again.
George stopped a waiter who was carrying a tray filled with wine, and grabbed a glass filled with new wine and gave it to me. I accepted and we tapped the wine glass together.
"Welcome to Frankfurt, Jade." he replied again. "I think you are more prettier than I heard from my brother."
I smiled and blushed to hear it, George is 32 years old, 2 years older than Valter, physically he is several cm taller than Valter. He looks more friendly and easy to mingle, maybe because George is hanging out with people outside of Germany, with a more selling appearance. No wonder at 32 he still loves to be single, and enjoys life in the glamour of the world of athletes. With his social skills and his achievements as a racer, he easily attracts the heart of any woman he wants.
"Why have I never met you at home?" I asked pleasantly.
"I've been in the States the last few weeks, and just this morning I was here, I've been constantly hearing about you since you were with Valter in Munich." he added, sipping the remaining wine in the glass.
"Does that mean you guys are gossiping about me?" I said, chuckling.
"More or less, this is an improvement for my younger brother who is not good at approaching women. But this time I admit he passed the exam with the best score," he said with a faint smile.
"I don't know what is the best test, George." I said cheerfully.
"I can determine that this time Valter is very clever by not letting you get away with it. Because if not, I will be the first to find you," he said with a laugh in contrast to his incomprehensible sharp gaze, such as an aggressive look, wanting something.
"Jade..." shouted Valter from behind, I turned around, followed by George, still smiling.
I saw Valter walking quickly towards us.
