Chapter 3

Lucian was getting annoyed by the second. The new boy next to him kept poking his shoulder until he answered him. He was introduced in front of the class as Raymond Castillo.

"Answer me dude. I need friends." Raymond whined, pushing on his shoulder. Lucian sent a glare his way before sighing completely tired of his antics. "I'm Lucian.. King"

"Well hi, I'm Raymond and I'm your partner in crime for today and many days to come." He grinned. Lucian wondered why this boy was talking to him, especially with him being white he didn't want to get too close.

"Why don't you talk to the white guys in this class I'm not interested." Lucian told him simply. Raymond pouted and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Is it about what I said earlier? You were really grouchy when I said that. But I was telling the truth. You're not a nobody, you're a somebody if you're on this earth." Raymond said with a little grin and slight accent.

"I don't trust your kind. Just leave me alone Raymond." Though Lucian was saying that his mind was telling him another thing. He refused to trust in some boy who's just trying to manipulate him. "You're just lying to me so you can use me and just get BLM clout or whatever. News flash, I don't sell well."

"What? No. I'm not looking to sell..you or any of that for the matter. I'm not racist. I just want friends. I see people for people not by skin color." Raymond leaned back in his chair while Lucian looked at him suspiciously trying to identify the lie in those sentences.

He couldn't find any lies which cursed him deeply. "I don't wanna be friends with you okay?" He told Raymond and he frowned giving him puppy eyes. "No. Shits creepy."

Lucian wasn't paying attention to the next words that left Raymond's mouth as he saw Jonathan enter the room late. He shrunken back in his seat slowly trying to not make it noticeable.

Jonathan made eye contact with Lucian. He felt a lump in his throat watching Jonathan drag his thumb across his neck in a threatening way. "Who's that?" Raymond questioned.

While Jonathan took his seat, Lucian tried to find ways to tell Raymond about the boy without being a little mess. "T-that's Jonathan. He's the most popular jock around."

"Oh woah. Really? So you think I can get on any sports teams if I asked him?" He questioned the shorter boy sitting next to him. Lucian shrugged and turned away to look out the window. "Don't know. You're white so hop on."

******

He kept bothering Lucian as he walked to his locker trying to put his books in so he could head into the cafeteria for lunch. "So, I was wondering.. video games after school? I know we just met but I'm new to the neighborhood."

Lucian slammed his locker shut. "You've literally been talking nonstop this whole time. Don't you ever shut up? I told you I didn't wanna be friends." He let out a small groan within defeat.

He started walking till he saw his two friends heading his way. He didn't want the attention right now. "Your first white friend besides Trent? I'm so impressed. He's hot." Brianna spoke her mind freely until Trent shot her a glare.

"Well.. thank you. My names Raymond by the way. Raymond Castillo. I'm European." He answered sweetly enable to get on his good side. Lucian couldn't help but roll his eyes at that pushing his hands into his pockets. "I thought you were a loner, I thought I was your only friend."

"We're not friends." He walked up faster noticing that Trent has been more quiet than usual. He didn't question it considering that he remembered some parts after the party.

"Oh come on, I'm not so bad" Raymond tried to console with Lucian but he glared over at him crossing his arms over his chest. "so throwing spit balls at my face isn't bad?" He gritted his teeth.

"Well, maybe I am a little bad but still." He sent Lucian a sinister smile to which he grimaced in response. "Anyways.. Why are you following me?" Lucian asked.

"Can't a homie just walk with his man down the hallway to the lunchroom?" He slung his arm around Lucian's neck and he swore he would've punched him in the face.

"Don't touch me white boy." He said and Raymond looked a bit hurt but smiled anyways. "I'm not racist and I told you that." Raymond told him politely as they opened the double doors to the lunch room.

"Listen to Ray for once, he's not so bad. That was kinda mean what you said to him. Apologize maybe?" Trent said and he looked at him, blinking his eyes before turning his head back forward to the line.

"I shouldn't have to apologize. If he knows what it's like and sees what happens then why am I obligated to apologize to someone who's hurt my kind for years." He stated confidently before slipping a hand in his pocket.

He seemed to shut Trent up. Such an asshole.. He thought. "I'm only one person though. I do understand where your coming from so you don't have to apologize to me. Though a sorry would be nice."

"You'd be waiting a life time just like we're waiting a life time for black lives who've been put into the injustice category for a very long time." Raymond looked at him and patted his shoulder with a nod.

"Why do you recite or maybe talk so much about racism when it's clearly not so bad. Right now. In school. Except for Jonathan of course." Trent decided to speak his mind, which was a huge mistake.

sweetmotherofgod, don't let me punch a bitch today

"Because clearly, I have to teach my history to people who act so ignorant about it. And you're right it's not so bad... it's damn right horrible. But you won't get how that feels because you're white Trent." He had a vein popping on his forehead before he can say more Brianna put her hand on his shoulder.

She mouthed. "It's not worth it." He rolled his eyes and went forward grabbing his tray following with the rest to the table they always sat at in the back. She's saving her little white boyfriend.. not one of us.

He pushed his food around not really hungry. "So.. Lucian." He heard the voice looking up to see Raymond talking to him. He raised his eyebrows.

"Can we please play video games today after school?" Raymond asked sweetly with puppy eyes. He knew he couldn't resist torture eyes so he nodded. "Fine. I'm gonna have to text my mom, can't mention that your white before she knocks my teeth in at my words." He cringed.

He heard the other two laughing and he pouted at them. "It's definitely not funny to see me tortured by my mother you know? Shit stings." He stopped a smile from coming on his lips though he wanted to smile just a little.

"Anywhoooo, party. This weekend. It's our type of party this time Lucie. I swear you'll love it. Barely any white guys, no offense babe and Raymond." She spoke to him and he visibly shivered. He didn't really wanna go to another party.

"I think I'm gonna have to pass on this one. You know my momma don't want me knocking up no treesh." He said and Raymond tilted his head to the side looking at him. Oh god.. The dumb acolyte.

"What's a treesh? A tree but we adding in the sh? Are we tree whisperers?" Raymond asked and he had to stop himself from flipping the table.

"Don't worry about it Ray- I mean Raymond." Lucian caught himself. He was not about to warm up to this.. person. "Fine Bri, But on one condition." He cringed from her screaming excitingly that it turned so many heads. He chose to ignore dumb words coming out their mouths.

"You can all kindly shut up. It's none of your business right? I suggest you turn your little ass around and get back to chattin about biscuits and milk?" Raymond said sickly kind as possible it made a shiver run down his spine.

He couldn't really speak. Besides anyone who's ever stood up for him is Trent and he can't bash Brianna, she's never around to see it. His eyes grew as saucers before turning back to normal after a few seconds. "I- What I was saying was one condition."

Raymond smiled and listened in leaning forward. He kind of looked hot like that. His muscles bulging and that sickening smile of his. He shook his head to stop thinking about his position before staring over at Bri. "Anyways, What's the condition?"

"When I say leave we leave. Deal? And I'm totally not being your driver. So find someone." He talked slowly and she nodded with a smile on her lips. "So-" Before Raymond can finish the bell rung. "Dang it." He pouted.

"Suck it up and let's get to class." Lucian said and got up from his seat throwing away his food. He turned back but ended up bumping into the person he didn't really wanna see.

"Well.. something's been telling me you've been running from me all day blackie." He kept his feet glued to the ground he knew if he fought again he'd be put out of the school. He didn't need his mother being annoyed all over again.

"What do you want Jonathan." He asked him and Jonathan had a smile plastered on his lips. He stepped back and shoved his hands in his pockets. "Well, since you've asked. Maybe I outta show you bus boy."

Jonathan swung his fist and he quickly dodged the attack. He was grateful his mother took him to martial arts lessons. He heard ooh's and ah's. "I'm not about to fight you Jonathan. I suggest you leave before I really beat your ass and you won't like it."

"End that nigger Jonathan Palaski! " He heard a few people cheering on the boy who was bullying him. He hated this school so much. "What are you gonna do cat fight me nigger?"

He tried to really keep his cool but lost it when he breathed in his face with that word. All he saw was red, swinging his fist into Jonathan's face over and over again. He knew he was loosing but couldn't end up looking like a bitch.

"Get off him! You're all a bunch of Psychos!" He heard the familiar voice of Raymond Castillo shoving the intruder in his grill off him. He was held into an embrace so tight he froze. "You're okay, you're okay" He repeated.

"What are you just standing there for! Get the fucking nurse!" Raymond yelled out and he slipped into unconsciousness for a brief moment from all the yelling and his sight going blurry.

******************

He woke up and sat up quickly hitting his head on the lamp light that was dangling apparently too low. "Who's this dumb enough to really put a lamp this low?! You could kill somebody off this thing." He complained.

He heard his name being called and looked over to his three friends. Well.. slowly becoming Raymond's friend. "Are you okay?"

"What happened? Did the lunch ladies finally poison me because I bark too much?" He sent a little grin their way to which they all smiled weakly. "No sir. You ended up in a fight with Jonathan and ended up losing."

"I know we should've interfere with the fight but you also don't like when people fight your battles for you. I felt really guilty for just letting you, you know. Lose like that." Brianna concluded.

"It's fine. Can't believe I was losing though. I must've been winning at least by some shots." He stated before rubbing his forehead until he widened his eyes in panic. "Shit, I could be expelled."

"Don't worry. Me and Trent took care of that for you. White privilege does come in handy sometimes you know?" Raymond smiled over at him and he looked away.

"Thank you then. I appreciate it. When can I leave?" He asked and looked around the room for the nurse before his head almost swung into the lamp again. "I'm gonna kill this little shit."

His three friends, Raymond a work in progress ended up laughing at his reaction. "Sorry for the lamp. That is totally my bad." He heard an unfamiliar voice, knowing the nurse was there. "You ended up in my office again hm? What is it the 20th time already? Come on Luciano."

"Sorrryyyy, I know I know. Bad mijo, bad mijo." He said and his friends were snickering at him. "Callete." He told them and they ended up bursting into laughter. "I hate you all."

"Your mother ended up coming in this time. Since she got a call from the principal." He felt his blood run cold at the mention of his ma. "She's quote on quote 'pissed'." The nurse finished saying.

"Oh man, I'm a dead man. I know this lady will hide my body in a bag tonight. Just why god? Why did you make me into a warrior?" He whined flinching when the door flew open welcoming the queen of his down fall.

"Off with your damn head." She seethed and he shrunk back into the little bed knowing the tension in the room got thick.
