Upon reaching her apartment, he parked in front of the building before he accompanied her to the floor where her room was located. Before she could even invite him in, he asked in advance, "Are you gonna allow me to enter?"
"Sure, you're my guest after all." After using her keycard to unlock the door, she pushed it open and entered her place first.
Lucas followed behind and as he did, the cats that were usually in the living room began coming out and rushing towards them to greet them. They were meowing loudly and even rubbing their bodies against their feet. The cats in her place didn't have breeds since she once picked them from the streets when they were still a kitten. Grandma, the older cat, was the only cat with a breed since she was a Siamese cat.
"Have you fed them when you left?"
"Of course, I did. They're just like this, expecting me to have food for them every time I come back." Although it was kind of surprising for her to see the cats surround him instead of her.
Lucas even sat down by the door and began staring at them. He was not doing anything, he was just there, sitting and staring at her cats.
"Is that how a human cat and ordinary cats greet?" She asked in a joking manner.
"Maybe?" He laughed a bit. "Ah, now they're marking me as their territory." He said as he watched the cats rubbed their heads around him. Aside from that, they obviously liked him. He began petting them as well which the cat happily purred for him.
Although there was only one cat who didn't approach her and that was the same cat she met at the rest house, the young black cat she named as Virus.
"Now then, let's introduce Grandma to the young ones." She placed the cage down and opened it.
The old creature simply walked out of the cage and walked around for a few steps before sitting down as she now stared at the younger cats. Despite being a new member, she looked graceful and superior in front of them.
"Wow. This is the first time I've ever seen a cat so refined and poised." He complimented with a proud smirk on his lips.
Violet couldn't help but nod in agreement, "I suddenly feel like a proud mother." She bent down and sat beside him as she happily stared at the new member of her family.
They watched as the younger cats carefully approached the older one. They were still wary about the newcomer after all. They even started sniffing her scent and as they did, the older cat remained unfazed. Grandma allowed the other cats to sniff her while her eyes batted slowly.
Lucas stood up and looked down at her with a smile, "When you grow old, can you be that graceful too?"
"You will have to stay with me until the end if you want to find out." She replied with a chuckle as she stood up as well.
He blinked a few times and laughed a bit, "Shit, that was a smooth one. I think my heart almost jumped. Almost."
"Smooth what?" She looked at him in confusion, obviously clueless at what he was talking about.
"Damn woman, you can flirt when you don't even try." He chuckled.
Violet rolled her eyes at his remark, "Anyway, do you want to have some drink? Or snacks perhaps?" She asked out of hospitality since they were at her place.
"Water is fine."
As Lucas followed her to the living room, he couldn't help but notice the simple decor of the room. It was neat and it even felt cozy and homey because of its beige and chocolate brown wall paints. The way she decorated the place was simply soft.
Instead of sitting on the sofa, he sat down at the carpet. The only thing lacking inside was a fireplace. He chuckled at the thought.
Violet came back with a tray of glass water and a plate of biscuits since she already knew that he wasn't fond of sweets. She placed it on the coffee table before she sat on the couch that was just beside him.
"So this is what's a girl's place looks like huh?" The way he said that made him look like he has never visited a woman's place before. "I have to admit, it's getting me excited." He said teasingly. He reached out and took a piece of biscuit just to chomp it. The biscuit wasn't sweet, it tasted a bit plain and salty at the same time but he liked it that way. He actually appreciated how she took notes of simple things like this.
"Are you now?" She knew that he was just kidding. For some reason, Violet couldn't help but ease up on him despite the fact that they were in her place alone together. She never really thought that he could take advantage of the situation and attack her.
She rested her elbows on her thighs as she leaned forward and placed her chin on her palm just to stare at him from the side. She could still see his eyes that way and even with that position, she couldn't help but be captivated again. All she could see was his eyes, not his handsome features like how long his lashes were or how strong his jawline looked, or how high and perfect his nose was, or how kissable his lips were.
"Yeah. I think every man can testify that they can also get curious about how a woman's place looks like. I mean, sometimes, they expected it to be neat, but become surprised how messed up it is." This time the way he talked about it was like it was based on experience. "This though is well cleaned." He complimented before taking another piece of biscuit, definitely enjoying it.
Despite staring at him from the side, she was still attentively listening to him. "It feels more comfortable if the place is clean." She replied.
"Mm. You're right." He chuckled a bit. "So... which part of me are you staring at?" Even if he asked the question without looking at her, he could still see her from his peripheral view.
Violet didn't feel embarrassed being caught. In fact, she was honest when she answered, "Your eyes. I really like your eyes. It truly is beautiful. Can I have a closer look?"
