Chapter Nineteen - New Start on a Dead End Road

The next week was one of the most busy weeks of my life. I truly didn't know what being related to a rockstar dad was like. That week was the Grammy's and Green Day was nominated for a Grammy. Adrienne and I went clothes shopping the day when we arrived home to find out that Billie was drunk.

Billie woke me up around 7:30 that morning to get ready for the Grammys and sound check.

"How did you sleep last night Emily?" Billie asked still in his pajamas, sipping on a cup of coffee sitting at the kitchen table.

"I slept fine... Billie..." I answered grabbing some toast from the toaster.

"Yeah?" Billie asked staring at me with those emerald green eyes.

"I'm a... little nervous..." I sighed.

"Your nervous? We all get nervous at least one or two times in our lives. Let me tell you something..." Billie said beaming.

"What?" I asked.

"I'm nervous too, y'know?" Billie whispered in my ear.

"I guess, our anxiety is getting the best of us, Billie?" I smiled.

"Yep, I guess so," Billie laughed washing out his coffee cup in the sink and putting it into the dishwasher.

An hour later Billie walked into my room and said, "Emily, just to let you know, the limo will be here to pick us up at 12:00, so we have to go get our clothes on, okay? I haven't seen you in your dress yet? As long as we can get our clothes and get ready, they we would have a dressing room for our make up, hair and all that good stuff, alright, Emily?" Billie smiled leaning in for a hug.

After Billie left the room I grabbed the dress out of the closet. The dress was black with silver sleeves along with the dress shoes which were black as well. I combed through my hair.

--- Billie's POV ---

I was putting on my tux and tying my black tie when I noticed Emily behind me in the mirror. I felt a tear coming, because that was how beautiful she looked.

"What do you think Billie?" She asked smiling.

"Y-y-you look amazing, Em-Emily... baby," I said letting the word "baby" escape my lips.

"What's wrong?" She asked concerned.

"You look beautiful, honey..." I started tearing up.

I remembered Lynn at prom dancing with me entering the room with her elegant maroon dress.

"Aww... Baby you are so beautiful," she said blushing about my tux.

"Billie... Billie... Billie!" I noticed Emily interrupting the memory.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"It's almost 12:00..." Emily said.

"Oh god! We have a few minutes! Uh... Eighty? You ready?" I asked Eighty sitting on the couch.

"Tré said that I have to watch Mickey tonight, I'm sorry baby... I'm not going... I'll watch you on TV though, love you," she said kissing me on my lips.

The sensation that whenever my lips touched hers felt like all the worries melted away and I felt like a tingling feeling of utter bliss. Emily and me walked out the door, waiting for the limo to arrive.

"Thank god we're both ready, Emily," I said happily thinking about Eighty kissing me still.

"Billie, you ready for tonight?" Emily asked me.

"Yeah... I think so," I answered watching the limo pull up.

--- Emily's POV ---

I watched as one of the men step out of the black limo. The man held the door open for us and he spoke in a New York accent, "Sorry that I'm are late, Mr. Armstrong and Emily, your wife contacted me to let me know she isn't coming."

"Oh, it's fine, mister," Billie said smiling whenever the man entered the vehicle.

"No, don't call me 'mister'. Call me Tony. Your other band members are already there, " the man said steering the vehicle to the venue.

"Emily, have you ever been in a limo before?" Billie asked while he observed me looking around the limo.

"No, Billie," I smiled.

"Wow, that's crazy your going to have to get used to people driving us everywhere," Billie whispered nudging me with his arm.

We arrived at the venue where the Grammy's before we went out of the limo Billie told me, "Emily, ignore the paparazzi, they are just going drive you nuts, okay," Billie said smiling.

Billie guided me to the dressing room. Where there was a lady named Margaret, who would style my hair and do my make up.

"Hello, Ms. Armstrong, how would you like your hair?" She asked holding a light pink straightening iron.

"Uh... I would like it to be styled like this," I said showing her a pixie cut.

"Okay, I'll fix your bangs and straighten it for you," she said smiling.

--- Billie's POV ---

After sound check, we all went back to the dressing room. Whenever I walked into the room Emily looked extremely beautiful with her make up and hair.

"Ama- Great job, Margaret!" I said looking Emily sitting on the couch in her phone.

"Thanks Billie! Well it's your turn now!" she said smiling at me.

An hour after she fixed my hair and put mine and Emily's make up on, I gotten my phone out and took a picture.

"Thank you so much!" I told her beaming.

"Of course, Billie!" She said.

We walked into the auditorium where there was almost seem billion seats there. I looked around for the place where everybody was supposed to sit. I found mine and Emily's seat.

There were already a bunch of other celebrities into the room like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, and many others.

--- Emily's POV ---

Billie went back date for over an hour, right until they got out on stage.

I watched as Billie, Mike, and Tré play one of they're newer songs. Before Billie left the stage, he asked the security guard if I can go on stage with them. I notice him nod his head a minute later.

"Well, I know that you probably wasn't expecting this... This is my daughter, Emily, and she wanted to perform a song with us," Billie said putting his hand over my shoulder.

Billie handed me a guitar and whispered, "We are right behind you... Emily..." performed Redundant from Nimrod and everyone cheered.

About an hour into the show the guys and me sat down, I felt someone tap my shoulder, I looked and it was James Hetfield from Metallica.

"Billie didn't tell me he was your dad! Well you did a great job out there kid you really impressed me," he smiled.

"Th-thank you, I'm such a big fan," I said timidly.

"Ah... Thanks dude, here's my number, if you want to I don't know... Record an album..." James said showing me his phone as I watched Billie beam.

"You see that?" I asked Billie.

"Yeah, James and me are good friends! We are both fans of each other," Billie giggled.

Then the next person went up on stage which was the person that would announce the next category of winners and nominees, which was Best Rock Music Video.

Silence filled the room, and then the person on stage announced the winner which was... Green Day.

I followed Billie down to the stage.

"Well, I would like to thank everyone that made this record to our producer, mixers, families..." Billie said in the microphone.

After the Grammy's were over Billie and me went to the limo where Tony was.

As soon as when we arrived home, I took my dress off and wiped the makeup off my face.

Whenever I hit the bed, I fell fast asleep.
