I didn't know what to do, everyone's eyes were on us, before I had time to think his lips were on mine. I just stood there frozen, then I stepped back.
"Alistair I..."I touched my hand to my lips.
He just smiled gently, tears in his eyes.
The rain slowly came to an end and Titan let down his shield.
"Ali look at you!"Fenrir elbowed him.
He blushed in response.
I went over to Ambrosia and picked her up. I felt guilty that I let Alistair kiss me, but at the same time when he did a feeling sparked to life in my chest. I know not what it was.
"Let's get moving. Careful not to step in puddles."
The ground singed the bottom of my shoes. We continued walking for two more days, until we came to an abandoned town. We found a suffering, but in tact apartment building, it looked much like the cell rooms. We all huddled into 12C. I laid Ambrosia down on a weathered leather couch. Fenrir laid Stella next to Ambrosia on the long couch.
"We are running out of rations."Fenrir's tail swayed.
"We need to keep moving tomorrow."I said, thinking about what to do.
"We need to find more supplies."Shira stared at Ambrosia.
"I found some medicine in the cabinet."Titan yelled from the bathroom.
"What kind?"Fenrir's ears perked up immediately.
"Some kind of vitamins to help your body grow stronger."Titan read the label.
"Give them to me!"Fenrir yelled excitedly.
Titan threw them to him and he caught them.
"It's half empty."He said solemnly.
"It's half full."I smiled, folding his hand around the bottle. "Give them to her. I know you want to."
He smiled nodding walking over to Stella, before opening the bottle and giving her one of the tablets.
"Here my love."He said gently, she took it into her mouth and swallowed.
"It seems the medication has been irradiated."Alistair said calmly.
"Stella spit it out!"Fenrir looked shocked.
"No, no. It seems to have enhanced the medicine's effects. If she continues taking those until there is none left. She should be good as new."He smiled.
Stella chuckled softly, placing her hand on Fenrir's.
"You won't have to worry about me so much then."She smiled weakly.
Fenrir cupped her small hand in his two large ones. "Stella, I'll always be worried for and about you."He sighed.
I looked over at Ambrosia who seemed to be peacefully asleep. Shira must have sensed my unrest because she put her hand on my shoulder.
"Kaiser..."She said softly. "She will be ok. I sense that she's strong. She'll make it."She smiled.
I stayed silent as I reached over and placed my hand on her soft skin. It was smooth and cool to the touch. I laid my head on her flat, but squishy stomach. Her presence was so soothing.
"I wish I could get this collar off of you."I mumbled sleepily.
"Sleep now."Shira said softly.
I shook off the drowsiness. "Shira stop."I whipped around, glaring at her. "I know what you're doing. Using your vampiric powers to make me calm and drowsy."
"Sorry."She laughed nervously, "Worth a shot."
I laid my head down once again on Ambrosia. I listened to her heart beat. It was so faint, almost nonexistent. Like she was on the verge of death. That's what they had to do to keep her contained my father said. This made my blood boil. I didn't realize it but I had burned through Ambrosia's pristine black jumpsuit. I jumped back.
"I think the radiation is affecting you in such a way that more of your powers are being released."Alistair hypothesized.
"Then why not everyone else?"I asked, looking over into his dark brown eyes.
"Because you have Devil blood coursing through your veins."He said gravely, he knew how that sentence would effect me.
I suddenly felt a pang of guilt and sadness wash over me.
"Do not be sad Kaiser."Alistair's way of speaking was cute and it distracted me from my guilty blood.
"Yeah, no matter what you are Kaiser. We'll stand beside you."Shira smiled.
"Thank you."I said softly closing my eyes, trying to cool my skin off so I could lay my head back on Ambrosia.
Suddenly there was a crash outside and I raced to the door, everyone minus Stella and Ambrosia behind me ready to attack. A thing I'd read about called a helicopter was circling with it's spotlight on the ground. In it's light stood a group of decaying people.
"Those are zombies."His eyes shimmered a yellow glow. That's what happened when Alistair was communicating.
"Don't let them bite or scratch you or else you'll turn into one!"He yelled.
I leaned over the railing and the rusted bars snapped, I fell onto the ground, landing on my feet.
The zombies turned their attention to me and began hobbling closer and closer. I could smell their rotting flesh from over here, I'm sure Fenrir was suffering, him and his keen wolf senses.
I began destroying one after the other. There were hordes of them.
"The girls!"Fenrir's ears perked up and he ran back to the room as the sound of glass breaking echoed from room 12C.
"Hey you down there!"A woman's voice called out from the helicopter. A megaphone was in her hand. "We could use someone like you in our ranks!"She called again. "Join us!"
I finished destroying the last zombie and I jumped up onto the second story where the railing had come down. I raced inside.
"Kaiser..."Fenrir said solemnly, holding Stella close in his arms.
A fallen zombie lay on the ground. There laid Ambrosia with a scratch on her arm.
My eyes widened and I lunged at Fenrir, he threw Stella out of the way as I tackled him.
"How dare you!"I growled. "How dare you!!!"
