Me and Limp both looked at each other. Neither of us made the first move, but after a few more moments, Limp then realized that she was the medicine cat and that this was her job. She looked at me and then she nodded as she hopped down from where it was that we had heard the cat yelling.
It made sense now, when Mint had said that it was from Youngtails old place... I just did not expect it to be so specific. I followed Limp up to the top of the fence, and then looked at where it was that we had heard the yelling. I did not see anything however.
Limp and I both looked at each other. Me and her had both heard it, this could not be one of those weird types of dreams where someone was yelling to you, but you could not see them, surely right? I knew this was real, I could feel the edges of the fence scratching against my paws.
Me and her looked around for a few moments longer, still not able to see where it was that the yelling might have come from. After a few more moments, I nodded to my friend, and I hopped down from the fence into Youngtails old yard.
It seemed strange to be here again, like a distant memory from the past, that was nearly long forgotten. It seemed strange to me to be at the point that I had made it to so far. It did not seem real, it seemed like at any moment I would wake up to see Tristan pushing me like he always did.
I knew this was all real, and I would not give it away at any moment to go back to my old life. I smiled at my friend, and she looked at me a bit confused. I realized what we were doing, and I knew that my mind should be focused on that, and not of my past memories.
"I can't tell where they are at... They might be inside the house, but it did not seem like they were from there. They have to be outside somewhere, but we have looked everywhere." She said to me. I looked at her for a few moments, and then I nodded.
I looked around for a few moments longer, and then I began to sniff the air to see if I could track any scents from anywhere that might help us find them. I could smell the scents of many cats, so it was not helping me all that much at all.
I could smell the scent of Youngtail as well, and it was as recent as up to a couple of days ago. Had he been visiting his old place? He must be missing a part of it, maybe he did enjoy being a kittypet after all. I shook my head, my mind should not be focused on that at the moment...
Me and Limp continued to search around but we could not find the cats to save our lives. I smelt the scents of so many cats as well, and I was not the one who was in that dream last night, so it was hard to focus on that specifically.
I looked over at Limp, and I could tell that she was starting to get a bit more frustrated by the moment. She and I both knew what she was like when she acted like that as well. I did my best to calm her down, as I began to speak to her in a bit of a more calm voice.
"Limp, if you smelt the flowers, you can smell the cats right? Just focus your mind on that..." I said to her. She looked at me for a few moments, and her look did not seem as if she was too sure about that. She did nod to me however as she closed her eyes and tried her best to focus on the smells.
She sat there for a few moments, and I saw her squint her eyes tightly as they were closed. I could tell that she was getting very upset, so I tried to stop her before she got to angry and had one of those misfits that she used to have, not too long ago.
As I tapped on her shoulder, she opened up her eyes, and I could see quite a bit of anger in them. I moved back, trying to ready myself for the avalanche that was about to explode from out of her mouth. She breathed heavily for a few moments, and I began to wince.
But as she kept on breathing, I realized that she was not talking. I could tell that she was trying to calm herself, and not get too out of control. It was something that I had never seen from her before, and it came as a bit or a surprise to me.
We sat there for a few moments longer, as I let her regain her breath, and to not stop her from whatever it was that she was thinking about. After a little bit longer, she looked at me, and then she nodded at me, as if she was apologizing. I nodded back to her and then listened to her as she began to speak to me.
"I... I... I just cant focus, there are so many other smells all around us. I can smell their scent but it seems like it has gone everywhere around us." She said to me. I looked at her a bit surprised to hear her say that. I then nodded to her as I realized that it made sense for her to be saying something like that.
I knew that medicine cats where supposed to be the best ones at gauging where a smell was coming from, but I could not focus on a single smell that was all around us, so I did not blame her for doing the same as well.
I sat there for a few moments longer, as neither of us said a word to each other. I could see that Limp was still trying to see if she could smell where they were coming from anywhere... She gave up after a few moments longer, but that was not what I had my mind focused on at the moment.
A thought somehow managed to get in my head, and it seemed like a good idea. In fact, it seemed like so much of a good idea, that I did not even tell Limp the idea, I just went ahead and went along with the idea.
"I have an idea..." I said to her quietly. She looked at me a bit confused for a few moments, and she was about to speak, that was before I then began to yell loudly. "Hey! Do you need help?! We are here for you! We just don't know where you are, please come out!"
Limp did her best to stop me, she ran at me at the last part. I looked at her a bit confused, and she whispered at me a bit angrily. She had her paws in my mouth, she tried to stop me, but the deed had already been done. I wondered what she was so upset at me about.
"You mouse brain! You are going to scare them..." She whispered to me. I looked at her a bit confused for a few moments. I did not understand why she would think like that. It then began to make sense, as I smelt the smell of kits moving in the wind...
That was what it was, kits... Thoughts cane back to me about Storm and Pipers kits... The dreams that I had been having. I remembered them being scared for their kits, I wondered if I would be the same when I had kits as well.
Even when I had first met them, they seemed a bit reluctant to trust me. They always made sure that their kits were by their side. Especially the she cat, she sure did take a while to trust me. When she even got to that point, that was just right around the time we split apart to make the clans.
Life was a bit hectic, but we got through it, and now the clans existed, though they might be weak and small, it was a beginning... The clans must have started like that when they originally were founded, surely right?
There was no way they could have been born into existence. I shook my head and realized that Limp was staring at me with a bit of an angry look on her face. I remembered what it was that I had done, and I honestly did not blame her for being so upset at me.
I might have just very well, ruined our chance to help out those cats. They probably were scared out of their right minds right now, and it would not have surprised me if they had ran off, and were far away in the distance now. I looked at Limp and then lowered my head to the ground, before I then began to speak back to her.
"I am sorry, I just thought it might be a better way if finding out where they might be at." I said to her. She looked at me for a few moments, and then she squinted her eyes and stared directly into mine. Sometimes I was not that good of a leader, I had to admit, and I often made stupid decisions.
She sat there for a few moments, and then she shook her head at me. She did not look as upset as she had been a few moments ago. She just more looked like she was about to give up. I could tell that she was tired, she must have not gotten very good sleep over the past couple of nights.
She had to take care of the kits, the elders, and she had dreams, all while she had Flame breathing down her neck at the same time. I waited there for a few moments, feeling quite bad for my friend, however eventually she did look back up at me, and she began to talk back at me...
"You know what... There is no going back now, they are probably hiding, and scared out of their right minds..." She said to me. I looked back at her, a bit confused as to what she had just said. But she then began to yell loudly. "We are here to help you! One of you is sick! We just nee-"
She was starting to yell, but then we heard another cat yell back at us from not too far away this time. It seemed like Limp's idea actually turned out to work quite well for us. I turned my head over to where I could hear the cat yelling back at us.
"We are over here, just please! He is sick and I don't want to lose him." She said to us. We looked around for a few moments still a bit confused as it seemed as if her yelling was echoing all through the walls of the fences that were surrounding us.
We sat there a little bit longer, both of us still looking around, not quite sure where the yelling was coming from, that was until I saw the head over a cat poke out from a nearby bush. Both my and Limp looked over at the cat, as she nodded her head to head over to her and whatever cats that were sick inside of that bush.
Both me and Limp followed where she had been at, as her head quickly disappeared. I thought that it might have just been a vision for a few moments, I then shook my head as we walked over to it. Both of us stopped as soon as we got there.
I spotted 3 kits, and then a tom that was not that much older than me. The tom had his eyes closed, and it seemed as though he was asleep. That was not my main focus however, as I turned my head over to the kits, to make sure that they were okay.
I did not see anything wrong with them, as I looked over at the older she cat, she did not seem to have her eyes to worried about them. She seemed to have her eyes closed, as if she was doing her best to keep herself calm. There were just so many questions that I still had to ask her however as I began to speak to her.
"Which one of your kits is sick? Me and Limp will save you, I promise you that." I said to her. She sat there for a few moments, as if she had not heard what I had just said. Then she opened her eyes at me. She then nodded at me, as she began to speak back to me.
Just as soon as she was about to speak however, Limp so rudely interrupted her just at the same time. I turned my head over to Limp, to see what it was that she felt like she had to say over the she cat.
"Her mate is the one that is sick... I can't tell what it is, his breathing sounds fine. He doesn't have a fever... Has there been anything wrong with him?" She said to the she cat. The she cat turned her head over to Limp. I did not realize that it was her mate that was worried about, I just assumed he was asleep.
The she cat looked at both of us, switching between, not too sure who was the leader between us. I was the leader of the clan, but Limp was the medicine cat, and I was not going to pretend that it was my duty to act like I knew what was going on right now.
I looked at the she cat, as she then began to speak to my friend, with quite a worried tone in her voice at the same time as well.
"I don't know... He just keeps freaking out, he hasn't woken up it days, and its scaring our kits... He is having these random spasms!"
