Chapter 17: Hes Back!

He looked at me for a few moments, and I could tell that he did not know whether to be looking excited, or a bit afraid as to what it was that I was talking about in the first place. I wanted to tell him, but at the same time, I also did not want to.

If I got his hopes up, and Kevin ended up saying no, at the next gathering, then that could hurt him quite a bit. I could see him and his sister leaving the clans. I did not want that to happen, and as far I had seen from Heart so far, he seemed to be a fairly good cat.

If he knew a lot about herbs, and he struggled with hunting, and other types of training, than a medicine cat was the perfect job for him in Shadowclan. A part of me wanted to take him into my clan, because as I had seen, it looked like Shadowclan had a fair bit more cats than we did.

I could not be greedy though, and I knew it as well. I came here to bring back all of the clans, not just one clan in specific. In order for all the clans to survive, than we would need each others help to make that happen. We did not need to be starting wars... It seemed as if it were doing good so far as well.

I could not take that away, I had to give each clan what they needed. I also knew at the same time as well, that I had to take care of my clan too. I shook my head at the same time... Windclan did not need 2 medicine cats, Shadowclan needed him a lot more than we did at the exact moment.

Especially since it was already starting to get quite cold in the air. That tended to be the times cats got the most sick as well. I shivered as I thought back as it was a long memory... The night that I had lost my mother to some sort of odd sickness.

I wish that I had Limp at that time... She probably was not even born quite then. She was still very young and that was nearly 11 moons ago now. I was so young as well, I probably would not have even reached the age of becoming at apprentice in Windclan.

I had to be the youngest leader to ever be alive in the clans. I then thought of how old that Youngtail would have been when his father had died in a battle and he had to take the reigns as a leader in a dying clan. That must have been quite scary for him.

I shook my head and looked up at the same time, as I realized that Heart was beginning to finally speak to me, after the long moments of silence, and him thinking to himself, as to what I possibly could have meant by what I had just said to him. I listened to what it was that he had to say as he stumbled in his first couple of words.

"Th- Th- Thanks you M- Moon... I am much obliged to that. I am sorry that it might have seen that I did not like my clan, and I was not loyal to it... That is not what I had meant by what I had said at all in fact." He said to me. I cracked a smile with the way that he had just said that to me.

I looked at him for a few moments, as I realized as well that he must be quite nervous to speak to a leader of another clan like this. He must be afraid to even talk to Kevin, his own leader at the same time as well. It worried me a bit too, as a Medicine cat was just as important as a leader.

Without a medicine cat, there would be no cat to heal wounds, or care for a clan when it had become sick. It would lead to the demise of the clan in the end as well. Shadowclan was lucky to have made it a couple of moons without a cat getting sick or dying.

That was the goal that I was trying to reach right now. I wanted to make sure that stayed true as well. While we might be rival clans, I had to think of it the same way that Youngtail said to me. That all the clans mattered, and I should be helping them as well when they needed me.

He was right, I had heard the stories by Jayfeather about clans not letting in another medicine cat, and it leading to the deaths of many other cats at the same time as well. I was not going to allow that to happen in my life time, and I was going to do the best to make sure future generations had that same idea as well.

I realized that we had been sitting in this same spot for quite some time now, and Heart was beginning to get more and more nervous by every passing moment. I looked up at him, and then nodded to him to get him to relax and calm himself down.

He seemed a bit more relaxed when I had shown him that as well. It made me feel a lot better, as I looked around through Thunderclan territory, as that was where I was headed off into next. I worried that they might take me down, wondering why there was a leader of another clan in their territory.

I did not need to be taken in captive into Thunderclan camp at the same time as well. I wanted to get back to the twoleg place and take the other cats back before dark at the same time as well. I shivered for a few moments, and then I shook my head, trying to push away those thoughts.

I looked back over to Heart, who now had his head leaned down to the ground. He did not have a worried look on his face though, instead it looked as if he was more excited for what was in store for him in the future, and he had every reason to be thinking that way as well.

I looked at him with a big smile on my face, happy to see a cat look like that as well. Especially when I knew the way that he had been treated by the deputy in his clan as well. I realized that we had been sitting here for quite some time as well, as I finally decided to speak up to the cat.

"Well... I just want you to know, that you should not be getting your hopes down. There is a good future in store for you, I would love to have you in my clan, but your clan will need you very soon. There will be someone to come and teach you some things as well some time soon as well, I believe." I said to the cat. He looked up at me for a few moments and then he nodded to me.

I looked at him for a few moments as well, and then I finally nodded back to the cat. I could still see that he was shivering quite a bit, due to the fact that he was speaking to me at the same time as well. I went up to him and nudged myself against him to lift his spirits up.

I saw that it made smile even more, it made me feel better as a leader to not just my clan, but a leader to all of the clans at the same time as well. He finally looked up at me after a few more moments, and then he decided to speak to me.

"Thank you Moon... I really appreciate all that you have done for me, and not just me, but you are the one that made all of this for me and my sister to have a place to stay as well." He said to me. I looked at him with a bit of a smile, and then I nodded to him.

I appreciated the words of gratitude at the same time as well... It was not very often did I hear a cat talk to me, and be so appreciative at the same time as well. It made me feel a lot better, and it made me feel like I was actually doing a somewhat decent job as a leader as well.

I sat there for a few moments, just thinking about what he had just said to me for just a few moments longer, than I looked up and realized that I was wasting both of our time. It was good to speak to a cat like him, but I remembered why I was here at the same time as well. I began to speak to Heart.

"Alright Heart, I have a job to do right now... You should head back to your clan, I am sure that Kevin has already been told of what I had said, so don't freak out too much. I'll see you at the next gathering." I said to him. He looked at me for a few moments, still with quite a nervous look on his face, and then he nodded to me.

I nodded back to the young cat, as he just sat there for a few moments, having a bit of a brain fart, as he finally realized what I had just said to him, as he turned his head away from me, and he began to walk away at the same time as well.

I watched him for a few moments, and then I nodded to myself, as I began to walk away out of Shadowclan, formerly Skyclan territory as well. As I walked for a few steps, I heard a cat yell back loudly to me as well. I spun around thinking that it might be a Thunderclan cat screaming a war cry.

I turned around to see that it was just Heart, and he had something in his mouth as well. I looked at him a bit confused for a few moments, as to what was going on, and why he had stopped me in the first place. I sat there for a bit longer, as he began to speak with a stuffed voice due to there being something in his mouth.

"Moon! Don't forget to get the Stinging Nettle for those cats!" He yelled loudly to me. I looked at him for a few moments, with quite a blank look on my face at the same time. I then realized what it was that he had just said to me.

I looked at him and then I nodded to him thankfully. That could have been quite bad if I had gone back to the Twoleg place with none of the herb that I had come to get on me. I would have had to run all the way back, risking getting attacked by both Thunderclan and Shadowclan at the same time as well.

I began to walk over to him, as he handed the Stinging Nettle over to me. He nodded to me, as I looked at him a but embarrassed that I had nearly forgotten to take that back with me. He handed it over to me, and I picked up the Stinging Nettle that he had left for me to pick up.

I looked back at the cat, as I noticed that he no longer looked nervous any more looking back at me. It was good to see from him as well. We both nodded to each other, and I spoke with a stuffy tone in my voice this time, as I was the one with the Stinging Nettle in my mouth.

"Thank you for that Heart! The next few days will be very important for you, so do not give up, something big is coming for you." I said to him. He looked at me for a few moments, once again I could tell that he was getting quite a bit nervous as to what I had just said to him as well.

He then nodded to me, as I did his best to look strong for me too. It did not look very good, but it was good to at least see him try. I nodded back to him once again, and then I began to walk back over into Thunderclan territory, looking around and sniffing to make sure that no patrol was coming near me.

I did my best to get out of the territory before someone spotted me and took me back to the camp as a hostage. I wanted to be back home, and get some good rest for the night before it was too late as well. I had not slept at all last night, and now that I was alone, I then began to realize how much I was worn out.

I did my best to get out of the territory as quick as I possibly could, though my vision was getting quite a bit blurry at the same time as well, and I was stumbling on nearly every root that as was going past at the same time as well. I spoke loudly to myself, quite a bit annoyed with all of it at the same time.

"This is why I like living in Windclan, this is terrible!" I said quite loudly. I then stopped myself and looked around to make sure that no cat had been close enough to hear me say that. I did not want to be taken back to camp by an angry cat at the same time as well.

Once I made sure that I was safe, I kept on going to where I was trying to go in the first place, each moment wondering when I was going to get to the creek that signified that I was back into my own territory as well. It sure seemed like it was taking forever, and I was getting more and more worn out by the moment.

I then stepped out of the last set of woods, and then I landed directly into the creek at the same time as well. I picked myself up as I realized that the water felt like it was freezing and I had just stuck myself into some deep mud at the same time as well.

I looked at my paws a bit disgusted with the mhd that was all over it as well. I looked at it for a few moments, and then I shook my head. It did not matter to me any more, I just needed to get back to the Twoleg place and help Shilos mate, Steve...

I jumped over the creek, stumbling quite a bit as I nearly fell back into it with the bad jump that I had just had. I stared at the water for a few moments, as I looked at the sun as it was glimmering down on me at the same time. It was quite a bright light to see as well.

It woke me up as well, as I remembered what I was doing too. I looked up, and saw that the sun was beginning to fall down on me. I lifted my head up, as I realized that I no longer had very much time, and I had promised Limp that I would be back before dark as well.

I began to head over to the Twoleg place, which was quite far away from me in the distance as well. I squinted my blurry eyes at it, as my eyes were quite dry as well. I was barely able to see it, but I nodded to myself and then I began to quickly start running over to it.

Not too quicky to where it might wear me out too much however. I walked past some flowers, as the scent felt quite nice too. It made me want to lay down, and fall asleep beside them. I shook my head, and then I turned my head away from them.

I had to get my task done now! I could sleep once I got there, but for now, there were many cats that were looking up to me. I began to run even faster than before, as I saw that the twoleg place was getting closer and closer to me by the moment.

But I was also getting more and more tired by each step as well. As I nearly closed my eyes and fell down. I shook my head to stop myself though and I then looked up at the same time as I saw that I was now at the Twoleg place.

I sat there for a few moments trying to regain my balance, and then I looked up at the top part of the fence for a few moments. I squinted my eyes at it, as I saw black dots all over my vision at the same time as well. I was so tired, and I was not sure if I could hop on top of it.

I thought about yelling loudly for Limp to potentially hear me, but I knew that she would not be able too. I also thought about walking back to camp and telling a cat to take the Stinging Nettle over to her, but that was too much of a haul to get back over there at the same time too.

I heard the voice of a cat in my ears at the same time as well, as I wondered if I was just too tired and I was hearing things now, or if there was actually a cat that was speaking to me. I listened in to hear what it was that the cat had to say.

"Wake up Moon! Your clan needs you!" I heard the loud voice of Squirrelflight yell to me right in my ears. I spun my head around to see where it had come from, but I did not see any cat anywhere near me at the moment. I looked around a bit confused.

It had done its job though, which was to wake me up. My vision was no longer blurry, as it had been a few moments ago, and my body no longer felt weak, like it was about to fall down in front of me. I looked up at the sky, and then I nodded.

I knew what it was that I needed to do, and what it was that I must do as well. There were a lot of cats that needed me right now, and I could not let them down. It was time for me to do my job, and my destiny, it was time for me to act like a real leader.

I squinted my eyes at the fence, this time they were no longer blurry. I nodded to myself, and then I moved back a little bit. I then began to run, and I jumped, I jumped higher than I had ever jumped before in my life, and I nearly jumped to the other side of the fence.

I then controlled myself in the air however, and I landed myself on the top part of the fence. I nodded to myself for a few moments, as I did my best to regain my balance. Then I looked over to the section of the fence that I was looking for in the first place.

Once I spotted it, I then nodded and began to walk across the fence over to the area that I had come for in the first place. Once I was close enough as well, I saw that Limp was already looking at me, as if she had known that I was already here before I did. She then yelled a bit loudly to get Shiles attention.

"Shilo! Steve! Wake up! Hes back!"
