Chapter 21

Deku gave me a bloodthirsty smile. I wondered if I should run.

Hell no, the two things this little shit would never make me do were begging and running from him. I'd like to keep at least a bit of my pride. Dekus grin suddenly dropped. "You know, today was the first day in a while where I could sleep well. I'm really fucking pissed you woke me up."

He came a bit closer. "You said sleep deprivation was the reason for my sociopathic tendencies. Doesn't that mean I have every right to be brutal now?" I growled. "Don't fucking twist my words to your means!" "I twist what I want." Dekus eyes glimmered in a dangerous poison green.

We just stared at each other for a while, then Deku bashed his fist into the wall behind him. "Why do you always have to intervene with me?! Why do you need to influence my life so badly?! It's not just this! Everything you do seems to be bad for me!"

I gritted my teeth. "It's not like I mean to, yeah?! The day you met me was just really fucking unlucky for you!" Deku snorted. "What a fucking understatement!" I furrowed my eyebrows. "I'm sorry, okay?! How many fucking times do I need to say that?!"

Deku hissed. "Until it changes! And even then, 'sorry' will NEVER be enough!" "DO YOU EVEN SEE WHAT I'M TRYING TO DO?! Do you get my intentions? Do you get why I did not call the fucking police?!" I had a hard time not to switch my tune to hostile. "I WANT TO SAVE YOU FROM WHAT I'VE CAUSED!"

Deku was suddenly calm again. "Oh, how heroic of you." I shook my head. "It's not about being fucking heroic. It's about YOU." "Is it now?" Deku walked up to me, staring directly into my eyes. "Are you sure you're not just trying to get your conscience clear?" I exhaled heavily.

"Deku, the only person I'm not lying to at the moment is you." My voice was slightly shaky. Deku pressed his pointer finger on my lips. "Shut up. I don't wanna hear your voice." He clawed his fingernails into my lower lip. "Who even taught you to speak? They should be sued."

I suddenly had to grin. It visibly irritated Deku. "Why the hell are you grinning?!" "I don't fucking know either. Maybe just because you're here." "What?!" I lightly shoved Dekus confused ass away from me. "For some stupid reason, I'm always worried you'll get yourself injured or killed, even by yourself. That you have a safe place to go relieves me."

Deku snorted. "And that's why you suddenly grin? Yeah, and I'm All Might." I shrugged. "I don't have any better explanation. Take it or leave it." For a moment, Deku didn't react, then he grinned. "I'll take it for now. But I'll find a better one."

Then he took my arm and pulled it towards the door of his room. "Now get out. I need some peace and your mug always riles me up." Dekus door slammed shut behind me and I decided to be a good guest and not snoop around in his house.

I went to the disintegrating playground nearby instead of going home. I just really didn't feel like being alone in my empty house. Especially because Deku wouldn't be there. I didn't know why I wanted to be near him so desperately, rationally, I didn't even want him near me, but I did.

Suddenly, I had an idea.

Many hours later, it was shortly after sunset, I rang Dekus doorbell again. He opened after the first time. "You again. Clingy much, are you?" I decided to ignore that remark. "Are you free? I wanna show you something." Deku kept a pokerface. "Where?" "The place you invade daily."

He stared at me for a while, then he exhaled loudly. "I'll be there no later than nine. Leave your window open." I nodded and Deku immediately slammed the door into my face. My cue to leave. So I did.

I had almost awaited Deku to ditch me, but he didn't. 9 pm sharp, he came climbing through my window. "This better be worth my time or you can say goodbye to your flagpole." I closed the book I had been reading and snorted. "What do you have with my junk lately?"

Deku shrugged. "You just seem like someone who'd value it over their brains. Figured I'd threaten you with that best." I flicked my tongue. "Well, you got it all fucking wrong. It's my hands, if anything." "And I wonder why's that." Deku gave a sly grin that made my palms crackle.

I huffed. "Get your mind out of the gutter already, shitface." Deku started playing with one of the strings on his hoodie. "You're pretty prude for someone who can't make up two sentences without 'fuck'." Then he shot me a dismissive glare. "And if you call me shitface one more time, I'll make shit out of your face."

I stood up. "Much better. Now move and let me show you why you're here." Deku kindly took a step back and I climbed the window seat. Made me earn a chuckle from him. "Oh, did you invite me to your suicide? How considerate of you." I shook my head. "Keep on dreaming, nerd."

I glared at Deku over my shoulder. "Remember how we always wanted to climb the roof with the weird pole thing above my window when we were rugrats?" Deku nodded slowly. I grinned triumphantly. "We both sure are tall enough now and that fucking thing's still there."

Having said that, I stood up and searched for the weird horizontal metal pole above my window with my hands. The last thing I saw before I pulled myself up were Dekus green eyes, ablaze with excitement.
