What happened next was something I would ponder about for the next few days. As soon as my mouth opened to release the pitch sound known as screaming, I saw the head of the masked woman with an ax go flying alongside the two persons nearest to her.
My scream ended with a whimper for I could not comprehend what had just happened. My eyes hadn't been able to follow all I saw was a flash and heads went flying. Another touched his neck and there were two holes leaking out blood.
Blood was pouring on me from where the Missy with an ax head had been. I could hear and inaudible scream slowly emanates from my throat but the sound never made it out. The blood was a dark red, nothing like the bright red I was used to.
"Tsk!" Carly said and spat blood. "Just awful. What humans do you people drink blood from? Crackheads?"
She was on the stairs and if I didn't see the blood I would have sworn she did not move a muscle. She was still like when she came down the stairs, not one hair was out of place except a few new accessories. The blood on her right hand, I wondered if that has been her weapon.
I immediately noticed some burns on his hands and face. The sun, blood. My aunt was a vampire. My eyes widened with realization, the not going out, not eating and why she had to remain on the stairs since they broke through the window and sunlight was streaming in. The fact that her hand could cut through human skin that's if these guys were human. She had called them Altereds.
My brain rejected my answer, it couldn't accept. There was no way she was a vampire, maybe I was just reading too much between the lines. I'm sure there's a logical explanation, and Aunt Carly would definitely explain when all this is over. I had tons of questions I wanted answers to and if we do get out of this I wanted those answers.
Even though I could literally see I her engorged incisors, it had grown more than thrice the usual size I couldn't still believe my theory. I quickly shut my eyes hoping this was some dream I would soon wake up from, I opened it a few seconds later and it was exactly the same.
"Don't think you can take all of us without getting a scratch!" The flowery guy screeched. They had been greatly affected by Carly killing two of their men and a woman in a roll but it was obvious their resolve wasn't affected.
I yelped at the sight of the dead intruders disintegrating into thin air, at the back of my terrified mind I couldn't help but think how clean up would be so easy if we could somehow get out of this mess. The blood on my body and dress has completely evaporated it was like nothing happened.
They all looked at me as I yelped, they were obviously a little shaky. I felt a breeze and another two heads went flying. I look to the stairs and Carly was back on it with new burns and the old ones were rapidly healing.
I felt my vision go foggy and I was sick to my stomach, if I had eaten lunch I was certain it would be all over my mother's favorite carpet. The new deaths were once again disintegrating, the only thing left was their clothes and weapons.
Carly hissed and said, "Do you mind standing still for just two seconds? This would be a lot faster." She finished with a smirk.
Her taunts must have gotten to the flowery guy for he charged towards her with his chain spinning in front of him as he made his attack.
"Guts don't! That is exactly what she wants." One of the masked intruders yelled at the charging guy.
Guts? If this wasn't a terrifying situation, I was almost certain I would have laughed. What kind of name is Guts? The Guts in question suddenly realized his error and stopped in his tracks giving Carly the chance to swipe off his pretty head.
This time around I had a clear view of the scene, Guts stopped below the stairs and Aunt Carly didn't waste any moment she was in front of him in milliseconds. Her palm flat and her nails sharp, between her fingers, was a butcher's knife and in a clean slash, off went Guts head. Where has she been hiding the weapon?
For a few seconds, everyone was dazed, and then the intruder who had screamed Guts suddenly called up, "Charge!" Angry voices accompanied them as they rushed towards my Aunt. I don't think I could call her Aunt anymore because there was no way I could be related to some vampire while being human.
Their numbers had drastically reduced from thirteen to seven, if they thought they had a chance before seeing their comrades getting killed must have dulled that thought and now they were all rushing to their deaths. I only needed to take one look at Carly and I knew she wouldn't lose.
The battle was swift as it was bloody, I sat on the sofa where I had been all these while with nothing but pieces of glass as my companions and I watched my Aunt hacked people's- if they could be called that -heads away.
In less than thirty seconds there were six headless bodies that were slowly fading away. She gripped the last one and ripped open the mask. The face behind it was slightly unexpected, it was a girl who was obviously around my age, her hair was tied back in a ponytail and her skin was so pale I could literally see her veins. The girl looked beyond terrified.
"Who sent you?"
Nothing, not even a whimper. She merely looked at scary Carly without even flinching though her fear was very obvious. "Answer me!" Carly tried again.
I watched the young girl spit in Carly's eyes and said the words, "We would get what we deserve, the time for the Al…" She didn't finish for there was a huge butcher's knife deep in her heart.
