Chapter Seven

As I watched the last of the intruders disintegrate into thin air, my brain tried to process all that had just happened and disputed it. I couldn't believe what I had just witnessed, I was most likely daydreaming, I wish. Carly stood still and looked around while my eyes remained close to her, my body still couldn't move.

"Tch! Couldn't they have used the front door? Look at the mess. Bella, are you hurt?"

All the while Carly spoke, she didn't move an inch from the spot she stood to kill the girl. Her burns were all healed up, there was blood trailing down the side of her lips that she had tried to clean up but all she succeeded in doing was to worsen it. Now, there was blood all over the side of her lips and chin instead of a line of dark blood.

She was looking at me strangely now and that's when I remembered she had asked me a question. I willed myself to speak but it came out as a growl. "I-I am f-fine." I managed.

I badly wanted to say more, I wanted to scream, yell, and ask what the hell had just happened but I couldn't. I tried to move but found that I was rooted to the sofa.

She frowned, "Can you move?"

"I think so." My words were gradually becoming steady.

She squinted her eyes and said, "The influence should be lifted now that whoever placed it is dead. We need to clean up this mess before your parents return home. Gosh, we have to completely change the windows."

Her abrupt change of subject was so sudden, I didn't have time to react. "Are you going to act like I didn't just witness the most absurd thing ever?" I suddenly yelled, I was angry but I couldn't even explain why.

Her gaze that had strayed to the windows and was studying the state of the living room was currently in return back to me with so much force I flinched like I had been physically whacked.

"I supposed I do owe you an explanation but now is not the time. I definitely do not want to have to explain what had just happened to your parents so whatever questions you may have you're going to have to save them for later. Now is not the time." She turned away from me at the end of her words.

I frown at the end of her words, she didn't have to repeat it, I totally get the idea. I followed her gaze and for the first time since the intruders burst into the room and glass poured over me, I access the damage done to the room and the state the room was in. It was drastic. Well, not so drastic but the glass in the windows was completely destroyed and the ground, the sofa were littered with pieces of glass.

"Don't you think it is about time you stood up from the glass filled sofa?" She asked without looking at me, there was a slight scold tone to her voice and it pissed me off.

This was every bit her fault, the intruders had asked for her immediately they had forced their way in. Whatever the hell that was about she had brought the danger to my home and to my parents. Yes, she had handled this one but what if the worst had happened.

I stood up slowly, stepping carefully so as not to end up with glass in my foot. I wished I had worn my dog slippers but I preferred being barefoot while seated so I had not bothered. I managed to make it a set from the pieces of glass without a scratch.

I didn't need any soothsayer to tell me that I had to protect my feet so without much ado, I went up the stairs.

"Where are you off to?" She asked as I walked past her on the stairs.

"I am not dumb enough to walk around barefoot. I simply need to get my footwear, it should only take about a minute." There was no need for me to sound hostile but I couldn't help it especially not after what I had just witnessed.

I was in out my room in seconds and when I returned, Carly was still exactly where I had left her. She really couldn't move any further not with the sun streaming in. I sigh even if I wanted to disbelieve the incident her actions were pointing it all out.

"Now what?" She asked me.

"There is only one way to fix this and that is to call a repairman. I am hoping I can find something in the address book." I knew specifically who I needed to call, not so long ago the window had been broken I have forgotten how but I know it had to do with me and Mia. I made a mental note to ask Mia when I see her again.

My mum was a little old fashioned, we had an address book right next to the landline. I searched through and soon enough found who I was looking for.

"Hello, Phen Windows?"

"Yes ma'am." A voice replied.

"Um the Wilson's Residence in Jenkinston Street, I was wondering if I could get my  windows fixed more like changed."

"When do you want it changed?" The voice stressed the last word in correlation to my adjustment.

"Like right now."

"What? Not possible, I don't even know what kind of windows you're requesting for."

"I don't know either but you could check your records. I am sure it is written there, your company changed my windows a couple months ago. I really need this to be done now."

I heard a long sigh followed by the tap-tap-tap-tap of what I assumed to be a keyboard. "Mrs. Wilson, I see the record. We changed your window about seven months ago. A seventy-two inches single hung window."

"Yeah," I acknowledged. I had no idea what he was talking about but it sounded about right besides I was too distracted and a little pissed at the fact that he thought I sounded old but I knew better than to correct him. "I want two of that."

"Two! Well since you urgently need it. I am sure we could make some arrangements but I am not sure about right now."
