Chapter 5

"Ahh... this is what I call by comfort!" I said to myself cuddling further onto the sofa. I am surrounded by my favorite snacks, wearing my oversized sweats, blanketed by a huge duvet, and am about to watch my favorite movies.

The boys went after Carter handed me my snacks for tonight. And when I entered home, mom and dad left me a note saying they left the city for work — I sincerely thanked my lucky stars— which was a bonus, I can stay all night doing what pleases me.

I wish Jenny and Harris would be here. It would be more fun, but I can suit myself. Tonight will be a great, comfy, and awesome night with me, myself and I.

~°~°~°~°~

My neck. Oh fuck, my neck.

When I opened my painfully strained eyes, it was still dark, the TV was still on, and wrappers were everywhere. Thank goodness I'm alone, or mom would've hanged me for this mess.

I slowly sat up, and rubbing my sore neck, I reached for my phone, which is on the floor. I pressed the unlock button with my phone right in front of m face, and instantly regret it. The light blinded me for a moment, almost dropping it on me. The brightness... argh... my eyes.

I adjusted the brightness and looked at the time, it was half past four in the fucking morning. At least I drifted off and got some sleep because knowing me, I would be staying up the whole night and then be a messy sleep drunk for the rest of the day. It might seem weird but trust me, I am not a morning person. I decided to go to the bathroom and start my morning routine now, taking my time, because I'm pretty sure sleep won't take me anytime soon.

I turned on the heater of the water and waited for it so I can fill the bathtub with water. I would really go for a bubbly bath with my book and a very fine drink, which is my ultimate choice every time; mango juice!

I went to my closet to chose and lay down the outfit I would wear for today. I chose a black baggy shirt with gray jeans, a simple look. Then I went straight to the lovely bath that is waiting for me.

After I got done relaxing and mediating a bit (not really), I dressed adding my typical makeup and now I am at the kitchen, not knowing what the hell to eat.

I opened the fridge and looked inside it, there was a carton of milk, one egg, and a half stick of butter. Well, time for pancakes.

I went to the cupboard to take out a bowl, stirrer, and a plate. I mixed in everything, but when I opened the carton of milk and was about to pour in the content in it, "Ew..." I gagged. It smells so bad, it's expired.

What in the fuck....

I threw the carton of milk away and sat on the island in the middle of the kitchen. I wasted the last egg I had, there isn't much in the fridge to be cooked fast, and I'm starving. Why do all of these appalling things have to happen now?

With a loud groan, I hopped off the island and went to my room to grab my phone and backpack, and decided to head to the new coffee shop around the neighborhood. I admit, I really don't like to go to new places before reviewing stuff about it. But right now, I'm forced to unless I want a growling concert in the middle of my class.

When I just opened the front door and walked to the garage, I remembered, my only transport who was my mom isn't there, and I have to take public transportation. I want to scream my lungs out, but I know it will not bring any good. Okay, now I have two options, either forgetting about the food and walk - no, run like crazy - straight to school, or—

A loud honk of a car erupted close from my home, which most probably woke up the whole neighborhood, very rude. The fence and the bushes of the front yard weren't allowing me to see who it was, so I turned all around from the garage to the fence door.

"Alright mate, who do you think you are to..." I stopped mid sentence of what I was about to say.

Oh. My. God.

How... why... What?

I rubbed my eyes, to see if it was just my eyes, or if it really is a miracle from above.

Right there, in front of me, was the sleek new model black Mercedes car.... parked on the side of the road.

This is surely a miracle sent from above.

The drivers' door opened, and one foot landed on the sidewalk, then the other. Oh God, who would it be? My prince charming? The man of my dreams? My knight in shining armor?

All of my unrealistic thoughts were halted to a stop when the driver of the car was finally revealed, oh, damn it. You've got to be kidding me.

There he is, with all his stupid glory, Carter the asshole. He's wearing a simple shirt with black baggy jeans, his soft curly hair swooshing and bouncing perfectly up and down from his movements. But wait a minute here, why did he come here?

He straightened his shirt a bit and dusted both of his shoulders then looked up at me, his eyes holding no emotions at all, except for annoyance, and it's hardly noticeable. What would I possibly do in the damn morning for him to be annoyed?

He walked up to me and stopped at least five feet away from me, "Cole's home is around here and begged me like a fucking baby to pick you up." he said and started to walk back to his car.

"Good morning to you too, 'Scott'," I said with a sweet voice. Why not tease him if he is already annoyed? He stopped in his tracks, snapping his head back at me. He narrowed his eyes, but I gave him an innocent look, "What? Isn't it your name?"

He groaned, looked at the sky and murmured something like, "God, please help me".

Oh, boy this is going to be a fun ride. *evil laugh*

"Shotgun!" I shouted and ran past Carter to the car, hoping and stopping at the passenger side of the car. I looked at Carter with a childish smile. He stared at me for a moment, then shook his head and unlocked the car, as soon as he did I opened the door and got in. To despise him, I slammed the door harder than I was supposed to do.

"Hey!" Carter yelled and quickly opened his side of the car and got in, closing it carefully. He looked at me with the coldest glare, "What the fuck do you think you did?"

"What do you mean? I just closed the door!" I said, smiling at him. He sighed, looked away and started the car with a soft roaring of the engine, indicating it's back to life.

"Are we there yet?" I asked as soon as we drove off the driveway.

"We just started moving," he answered dryly.

"Oh! I forgot, we just started moving! My bad, 'Scott'." I said, sarcasm laced with my voice.

"So, why are you picking me up?"

"I already told you, 'Kate', because Cole asked for it," he answered, his eyes fixed on the road.

"OHH," I said, seeming to be surprised.

"And why are you picking Cole?"

"His car is in the garage."

"Why?"

"Because it needs a fix."

"Why?"

"Do you need to be this nosey? Just shut the fuck up."

"Well, what can you say, this is me. And you better stop being rude to me." I said, expressing with my arms too.

He deeply inhaled then exhaled harshly but said nothing. I started to feel the trickling boredom creeping inside me, so I reached to the radio and turned it on. Very surprisingly, my favorite song was playing, eek!! I couldn't control myself, so I started to sing along the radio, and turned the volume up.

"Shout out to my ex! You're really quite the man!" Carter snapped his head to me quickly and gave me the 'What the Heck?' look that is hilariously etched on his face. I rolled the window down and continued, the cold morning wind blowing my hair,

"You made my heartbreak and that made me who I am! Here's to my ex! Hey, look at me now, well I..." Carter reached down and turned off the radio, cutting off my little karaoke thing.

"What are you doing?" I tried to turn on the radio again, but he quickly held my wrist, tightly, "Can you be mature for at least five minutes?" he said sternly, why is he so stiff all the time?

"Can't you loosen up for at least five minutes?" I fired back and made him let go of my wrist.

The tires screeched, and the car stopped completely. If it wasn't for the seatbelt, I would've been thrown out of the front window, again, thanks to the seatbelt. This guy is totally knocked out of his senses, what if a car was behind us, did he wanted us to die?

I slowly turned to Carter, he is already looking at me, anger flashing in his eyes, "This is going to be the last time I am going to say this. Stop. It." he says coldly.

I looked at him for a moment, allowing my eyes to linger from his face, chest, then back to his eyes. I narrowed my eyes and tilted my head to the side, "Stop what?" I said, my lips twitching. He threw his hands in the air then to his hair.

"Oh, fuck." he sighs, then after a moment or two, he continued driving.

"If you are easily annoyed by me, then why wouldn't just make me leave?"

"I would love to, but Cole will never get down from my head by doing it."

"Why does Cole like me this much? I knew you guys like, yesterday." I asked. If it wasn't for Cole, I would've taken a bus, or reach school late with my face looking like an actual tomato. I owe that boy.

"I don't know, probably because both of you are on the same level of 'annoying as fuck'." he said and I rolled my eyes.

"You should be happy and grateful because I entered your life."

"Which you will leave very soon," he said and I hit his arm, "That is so mean asshole!" I retorted and he shrugged, "I meant it."

"Are we there yet? It's suffocating me being around you."

"Too bad, you are stuck with me." I huffed and crossed my arms, staying silent for the majority of the ride.

"Can I turn on the radio?"

"In either way, no."

"Either way?"

"And here we are, I am going to go and bring him. Do not get out of this car." with that, he gets out of the car and crosses the road within seconds. Damn, he is really fast.

He went to the house where it has colorful roses on the fence, sweet. The house looks homey and cozy. It is a two-story house with olive and grey colored bricks making up the house. Hmm... what would Carter do if I went in there following him? Probably nag me, then tell me I am annoying and that's it.

No, please don't go there.

Come on, you've told me this exactly back there at the nightmare yesterday, but nothing has happened.

Yeah, being threatened by a gang leader and being stuck with these boys, which you don't know what they would do to you, definitely nothing happened.

Whatever, I'm going to go.

Well, I tried to stop you. If anything happens don't come to me crying.

Uh... you are me?

I opened the door and climbed out, slamming it shut, forcefully. Whether he is here or not, I will try my best to despise him. I crossed the street and opened the fence door. To my absolute horror, red solo cups and empty beer bottles littered the whole front yard. There were even vodka bottles and... cigarettes' litter. It looks like a party was crashed, so bad.

I ignored the rubbish around me and climbed up the front stairs, standing at the front door of Cole's house. I took a deep breath, a breath for taking in whatever will come from the other side. I grabbed the silver doorknob and twisted it, surprisingly, it was unlocked. I pushed it wide open and entered. Comparing it to the outside and here, it is very dark that I had to adjust to the darkness of the house. It smells like pizza, liquor and ew... puke.

I looked over the whole place, there were nice looking paintings, old looking but beautiful ceramic works were sitting in every corner of the house, and the interior design of the house looks phenomenal.

How can they not be broken if there was a party in here?

I walked through the hall, and tried to sprint up the marbled stairs, taking two at a time. When I reached the top of the staircase, I chose to take the right side and went looking for either Cole or Carter.

I heard a loud bang that startled the heck out of me. It came from the last room of this side, I slowly went closer, even though my insides are begging me not to. When I reached the door and extended my hand to open it, I froze right at the spot.

"Fine! We will kill her, in no time."
