Chapter 31 - Drugs & Other Problems

Sebastian's face was as pale as death when the doctor visited us that evening to share with us the results of my bloodwork. We all expected the worst, never fully realizing that the worst might actually manifest into reality.

'There was a concerning amount of diuretics in her system which is a drug used to lower blood pressure. This caused an insufficient blood flow to her brain, which in turn caused her temporary loss of consciousness', Doctor Cousteau explained in latent terms.

'This is surreal', Harper exclaimed more to himself than to anyone else in the room.

'Are you sure that this isn't something that you've administered yourself?', the doctor asked me, concerned.

'No, I didn't do this to myself. I don't even have blood pressure problems. I've never ingested a diuretic in my life', I reassured the doctor, who eyed me with concern.

'She's not suicidal, if that's what you're getting at', Henrik confirmed to the doctor firmly.
