The late morning sun was beaming brightly as Harper and I rejoined the party to mingle among the gathered nobles, blending into our roles without another thought. Servants bustled about, making the tables freshly stocked with food and beverages.
Over by the tables, a couple of the princesses were talking in hushed voices with Lauren, so I inched in a little closer to eavesdrop on the conversation without alarming them to my presence.
'The King and Queen seemed quiet taken with you today, Lady Lauren', Sandrine addressed Lauren.
'I just couldn't believe that we had a lot in common, and that they respected my opinions. I just hope that when all is said and done, I will have their support', Lauren said clearly despite her blushing face.
'I think so. If she let you in her closet, she's pretty much let you in on everything. I don't think Lady Sabrina or Lady Emma would be nearly as proper a fit for queen', Talia agreed.
