Chapter 10: My New Best Friend

'When are you planning on coming back home? Haven't you suffered long enough?', I could hear my mother rubbing her temples and pacing around her loft as she was talking to me.

'You know I can't leave until I clear my name. This will haunt me forever', I mimicked her pace around my room. 'Besides, what are you doing up so late?', I asked her, knowing that we were six hours ahead in Monaco.

'How can I sleep knowing that my daughter's reputation is on the line? Gossip travels around the world, you know. I should be sending reinforcements. You're clearly way over your heard with this', my mother went on ranting. It was a nervous habit. She just had to let it all out at a go.

'I know that out of the two of us, you'd be better equipped at handling such situations', I started to say before my mother interrupted me with a snort.
