She Had To Make A Choice

"How was your new composition going Miss Dana," she asked while pouring her tea. They are having a thirty minutes break from practice. This is unusual since Miss Hoffman is very particular with time and such a workaholic.

She would drive her to play the piano non-stop for hours and hours. And one practice that Miss Hoffman would ask her to do once in a while is to play the piano, jumping from one composition to another, without stopping. She would randomly say a piece, and part and she would play it by memory. During those times she wasn't allowed to read the notes. At first, she finds it strange and considers it as a game, but as they go on with it she realizes it is more difficult than she could ever imagine.
