Memories

"leave me alone!" Seven years old Rose cried out. The alley was dark and wet. Three girls around her age surrounded her.

"Haha, you're so ugly" the tallest bully mocked Rose, pushing her down to the wet ground.

"She doesn't even have a dad" the second bully mocked her more.

Their words echoed in her head, hurting her so deeply but she wasn't going to let them step on her self-esteem. "Shut up!I have a dad!"

"Oh yeah??where is he?" the leader mockingly queried Rose as she pushed her down again, causing her to bruise her arm on a rusted iron rod.

"Leave her alone" a cold, emotionless childish voice thundered.

All eyes were placed on an older boy. His brown hair and hazel eyes highlighted his honey brown skin. His face gave a kind of cold look, hands placed in his pockets, two hunky men in black suits and shades behind him standing at the entrance of the alley. His clothes didn't really show his status as a rich kid but one would already know he came from a noble family.

"Are you three deaf?!"

Fear filled their hearts but they did not show instead they still stood their ground.

"What if we don't?" the leader asked, daring the young man before her, moving towards him, trying her best to look him in the eye.

Pained cries echoed in the alley after he placed a sounding slap on her face. The leader ran out of the alley in tears, her followers directly behind her.

"Are you okay?" the boy asked as he stretched his hand towards Rose who still sat on the floor speechless at what had just happened, his cold face immediately brightening up. Rose took his hand and rose to her feet.

"I'm Cathan. What about you?"

"Rose"

"Let me help you with that" Cathan said, his eyes examining the bruise on her arm while holding her hand and they walked out of the alley.

***BLACK OUT***

It was a beautiful spring day. Nature sang it's glorious song as it displayed it's never ending beauty. Sixteen years old Rose was strolling arm in arm with her best friend, Cathan at the rose garden in the park, taking in some fresh air and appreciating the beauty of nature. Cathan loosed his arm from Rose's and went towards a bush, picking a fully bloomed red rose and carefully placing it in her hair.

"You look beautiful" Cathan complimented her, as they strolled further.

"Thank you"

Today was really awkward especially with Cathan acting all weird. On a normal day, they laughed out loudly chatting for hours. Today's setting was right with sunset and every other thing present. Then he said the words.

"I love you, Rose"

Rose's cheeks turned rosy red. Her expression was a shocked but happy one. She had loved Cathan from the first time she met him and he having the same feelings and confessing to her was her biggest dream. She smiled at Cathan, as she leaned towards him and planted a gentle kiss on his soft lips.

"I love you too Cathan"

" So will you be my girlfriend?"Cathan asked nervously.

"Yes" Rose nodded, before pulling Cathan into a tight hug.

***BLACK OUT***

The dorm door was slung open and Rose walked right in, her face looking stressed and black circles around her eyes, her hands filled with a ridiculously large amount of textbooks. It had been a hectic week because she was writing her final exams.

Suddenly, the books slipped out of her arms, her mouth wide open with awe, her eyes widened with surprise. She couldn't believe the scene before her. It was the biggest surprise of her life.

The large amount of red had changed her dorm room entirely. Rose petals scattered all over the room, a large centre table covered with a white cloth designed with red bows and hearts, all sorts of desserts surrounded the big red velvet cake that was placed in the middle of the table, candlelight reflected from every area in the dorm, two glasses and a big bottle of champagne wrapped with a red bow sat on a tall side stool and to crown it all, a bunch petals arranged in a heart at the entrance where she stood.

Then Cathan walked towards her and bent down on one knee. Rose grinned from ear to ear as she realised what was happening.

"Rose Phillips Abel..." he brought out the diamond ring from its box, "will you marry me?"

"Y-yes Cathan, yes I will marry you" she replied, tears nearly falling out of her eyes.

Cathan lifted her and spinned her like a little child before pulling her into a tight hug.

"I love you Cathan"
