A Question of Views

If Sid told Dave that he liked men, that he liked Dave, would he be a fag in Dave's eyes or someone broken?

Dav's heart beat unpleasantly hard. What does this kid think of? Why such absurd questions?

"Sid, don't be extreme," Dave grimaced. "There is no way you can tell me something like that."

"You're right," admitted the younger colleague gloomily. "There is no."

Sid turned and went back to Martin, but didn't start questioning him about how Paxton had ended up in the hospital. Both mechanics took care of the old convertible.

Dave was confused. What does Sid mean anyway? Where did he suddenly get this fierce desire to defend gays? Or maybe it wasn't all gays, but Martin and Steve in particular? Sid was a racing fan (they were both) and was very happy to get pictures with Paxton. Was that what it was about? Was Sid a fan to the point where he accepted everything about his idol?
