Pawn Training Lesson 2: Demon Killing

"Oh, thank God. I thought I was going to have to fight her." Levi breathed a heavy sigh of relief upon the sight of Rachel. Rachel smiled and began to giggle.

"Oh you are. I'm simply here to watch how well you can handle a low tier demon." Rachel sat on the rafter and gave no intention of helping him in any way.

"WHAT! You can't possibly think that I can fight her, do you? You thrust me into this mess! I still haven't wrapped my head around the whole thing, I still think I'm dreaming!" Levi shouted back in reply. Rachel shrugged her shoulders and turned her attention back to Alice.

"Hahaha, oh man, for a second, I thought I was screwed. Master Levi, it seems you have quite the lame Master yourself!" Alice laughed in relief.

"Oh you are screwed, no matter the outcome, you die." Rachel smiled in return. Alice stopped laughing, and dread began to spread across her face.

"So I'm just training material for young Master Levi huh? Then, I guess I'll just have as much fun as I can! If I can absorb his Soul Energy, then I'll rise a whole tier!" Alice snarled as she launched herself at Levi. He ducked, but, as she passed over him, a large chunk of his Soul Energy disappeared.

"Mmn, oh wow! That's delicious!" Alice had lustful look on her face as she drooled. Levi grimaced, but he had a sudden idea.

"You know, I finally understand your standards. I always wondered what you saw in that fat lazy *yellow bastard of a man. But, now I see, on the inside, you're just as fa-" Levi dove to the side, allowing another chunk of his Soul Energy to be taken. He quickly stood to face Alice. His back was to the hot cauldron. 'Perfect.' he thought to himself, making sure not to show any hint of his plan.

"Sorry, did I hit a raw nerve? Must mean I'm right hu-" Levi dove once more, but this time, he instantly condensed his Soul Energy forcefully. Alice soared over him, an obvious look of confusion on her face as she slammed into the still boiling cauldron.

"AHHHH! WHY DOES THIS BURN?" Alice began screaming as the hot water boiled her skin.

"Thank God that worked." Levi sighed in relief.

"Normally, it wouldn't have, but I saw what your plan was, and decided to give just a little help. I carved a cross on the cauldron and blessed it, to make boiling holy water." Rachel commented from above.

"Oh, I see." Levi nodded as if it were obvious.

"Well, are you going to finish the job? Holy water burns and weakens them, boiling makes it even more painful, but it won't kill them." Rachel warned me. Levi then gulped.

"Right, of course it won't. Okay, kill the demon. Come on Levi, how hard can it be?" He muttered to himself as he approached the screaming Alice.

"Master Levi? Please, it's me. I promise, I'm okay, I was just kidding, I'm not dangerous. I'll be your servant!" Alice cried out to him. Something about her words... just felt empty... false.

"Do anything to save yourself huh?" Levi sighed. He reached down and picked up a sharp metal rod that was broken when Alice crashed into the cauldron.

"You foolish mortal boy! Do you really think you can kill me with that?" Alice snarled at him as she attempted to stand up. Levi looked up at Rachel, with a curious look. Rachel shrugged.

"I'LL KILL YOU!" Alice roared as she weakly launched herself at Levi. Levi swiftly plunged the rod into her head. He wasn't sure if it actually killed her so he jumped backwards and waited. Alice didn't move, instead she began to vaporize until there was nothing left. A bright purple orb of light instead floated above the vacant spot where Alice's body was.

"That was perfect! Well done, iron is of course a Demons weakness, though it won't permanently kill them, it will send them back to Hell." Rachel congratulated him. His attention was still focused on the orb of purple light, a very obvious look of confusion on his face.

"What are you looking at?" Rachel looked over, apparently not being able to see it.

"That purple orb of light." Levi pointed.

"There's nothing... YOU CAN SEE THE SUCCUBUS' MIASMA!" Rachel exclaimed, Levi had already walked past her and got a closer look at it. It wasn't all that different from Soul Energy, it just felt darker. Levi reached out and touched it.

"Weird, I feel like I can absorb it?" Levi questioned himself.

"Don't do that! Just, wait until it disperses." Rachel instructed, but it was already too late, the moment Levi touched it, it combined with his Soul Energy. At first, he froze from immense pain, and then it gradually faded.

"You... purified the miasma?" Rachel sounded genuinely surprised.

"Is that what happened? I only felt pain." Levi admitted.

"Well, I'm not one to ask what happened, if you were going to ask. Even I am unsure of what just happened. I don't think there's ever been a Pawn in history who could purify miasma... that I know of." Rachel added as an after thought. Levi could feel quite an increase in his condensed Soul Energy, like it had exponentially increased in size. He also felt a slight more powerful. Instinctually he knew he had a new skill. He activated it and looked at Rachel.

"...I'm contacting my supervisor." Was all she had to say. Levi looked into the water to see his reflection, his eyes were glowing purple, the same purple that Alice had.

***

A couple hours later, a man dressed in all white armor showed up at the gate along with Rachel, explaining they were here for an opportunity for Levi, his father happily let them in.

"Levi, this is a mister **Castiel, he's here to offer you an opportunity... a rich opportunity!" The fat bastard greedily added. Levi scowled. He absolutely despised his father.

"Why don't we take a walk, my assistant here says you showed excellent aptitude in training last month." Castiel grimaced, as if lying betrayed his very being.

"Of course, sounds like a great idea." Levi answered as he unhesitatingly stepped out the door.

"Ah, I can accommodate a private area within the house! I would love knowing more about the mon- that our guest is comfortable." Levi's father greedily rubbed his hands together. Levi scowled even further.

"That won't be necessary Mr. Smith. This matter is strictly private, prying ears have no place." Castiel dismissed with a smile.

"Oh, please. Call me Alex, and if you insist, then I shall not press the matter." Levi's father lied. He knew he'd push Levi to tell him. Anything that involved money or women, always caught his greedy attention.

"Come then Levi, we have much to talk about." Castiel clapped Levi on the shoulder and led him out the gate.

"What's going on Levi? Being arrested?" Victoria stood outside her gate and smiled mischievously. Levi ignored her and continued walking with Castiel and Rachel.

"Tch... you're no fun." Victoria pouted.

"She seems nice." Castiel commented plainly. Not a man of many emotions. Levi could tell.

*Yellow is an old term for Cowardly.

**Yes, I know I'm using a name from a popular show, but it's only because it's a good Angel name. They are not similar in anyway, shape or form.
