Empty Handed

"Your father was a liar...and so you are..." The man leaned him towards her as the woman stepped back.

She was afraid of the bullies now.

"Yeah, he deserves right! He runs an illegal business." The other behind the man said.

"No! He doesn't!!" the woman yelled, and pushed the man back.

"Ohh...the lady spoke up!" The bunch of three boys laughed in unison.

"I don't need to explain what's going on, or was my father right or wrong!"

She walked, but the man held her forearm.

"Tell me this, Jessica, was your father planning to indulge you in his business?" He eyed her from head to toe while she glared in disgust.

Stomping her heel on his foot, she made him step back. He groaned and growled in anger. At her swift pace, she ran towards her house.

"B*tch, you'll pay for this!" She heard him curse.

As she reached the door of her house, she found it ajar.

"Mary, I know you and your sister have nowhere to go, but...we can't help you this time. Society has made you both leave the house, cause even if we don't say, you know that your family is not a good shadow for our children.

The lady whose back could be seen said. Mary just stood there with her head lowered down. Shuddering a bit.

"I know after your father was arrested you have no one to back you up, but the committee doesn't want to compromise. They say their decision is inevitable. We can't really help you. They have arrested cause Mr Lennon in such a huge matter."

The other lady said.

"We'll go now. Tell your sister to empty the house as soon as possible. Without creating further disturbance and chaos."

Before the ladies could open the gate, the 22-year-old Jessica opened it and stood there, eyeing those ladies consecutively.

"Umm...You've come, Jessica. Nice to meet you."

"Not so nice," Jessica said while keeping her eyes glued on them.

She glanced at her 17-year-old sister. Her eyes were red, puffy, and filled with tears. Jessica clenched her fists.

"If you can't help then LEAVE!"

The ladies flinched and quickly emptied the lobby of her house.

"Marry..." Jessica went near her sister and embraced her tightly

"Jessica, what will we do now..." Her sister shuddered.

~~~~~~~
And Jessica opened her eyes, "Tch!" She rubbed her eyes.
It was obviously an awful dream to watch; she sighed.
"You okay? You fell asleep on the chair..." Eric asked as he entered the room with a mug of coffee in his hand.
Jessica sat straight up and nodded.
Clearing her throat, she added, "Can I use your restroom?"
"Yeah sure, this way!" He guided her.
As soon as she went inside, Hebrew opened his eyes.
~~~~~~~

Here Winchester kept looking at this wound of him in the mirror, the wound Hebrew had created. He ran his finger above it.

He remembered what Hebrew had said that night.

'You thought I would never know what you did to me?'

Hebrew's voice echoed in his head.

He stared at himself in the mirror.

"Up to how much do you know, Flynn. And how much more you are yet to know?" He questioned within himself.

Exactly what happened that night? Where did Hebrew vanish suddenly, Winchester was also unaware of it? All he remembered was a black shadow hit his head hard and next, he woke up on his bed.

Since then he'd been wondering who that person was, or what he had to do with Hebrew.

"Hebrew doesn't seem to remember anything at all. The way he looked at me with confusion in his eyes today, he is more clueless than me."

"Flynn Hebrew...are you a threat to me?..."

~~~~~~~~
Eva's so-called husband again grounded her. She sat in front of her mirror. After all the shattering that day, the whole interior was renewed, and they again locked her in the prison.
"Huff!" She sighed. She couldn't do anything rather than just be seated like a statue in this vast palace. She had chosen this life.
"Ma'am, sir has called you, down in the hall."
The door opened, and one of the black men spoke up, standing on the threshold.
Eva nodded and stood up. She walked down elegantly and saw the boss standing wearing his usual black mask, and beside him was a man she had never seen before.
"There she comes, my wife, Eva." He introduced.
The man smiled and so did Eva, slightly.
"Darling, this is Mr Simon Winchester. My business partner."
Though Eva showed a stern face, mostly expressionless, she was disgusted that her husband had a business partner. She already hated his business and now this man, too.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Ms Eva." Winchester kissed the back of his hand.
"Yes, sure..." She nodded.
The boss frowned at her behaviour but didn't utter a single word. Winchester's smile faded away by facing her cold shoulder, and they headed toward the sofas to be seated.
"I'll fetch some snacks for you both." Eva smiled again a little and went away.
As she went into the kitchen, it stunned all the maids to see her.
"Madame, what are you doing here. Sire will-"
"No need Charlotte," Eva showed her palm to her French chef.
"You all may leave, I'll see what we have to give to the guest."
Maids left the kitchen whispering, and Eva sighed, placing her hands on the island.
She walked toward the refrigerator to fetch some ice. 'They'll probably need some whiskey.' She guessed.
Before she could open the refrigerator, a pamphlet stuck on the door of it caught her attention.
She took it out, "Trip to France! For couples only!" Her eyes read and memories played in the back of her head.
~~~~~~

"Ms Emsworth, would you like to be aside so that I can take out some butter?" Eva turned around and found Hebrew standing there.

She smiled and placed a pamphlet in front of her face.

"What's this?" Hebrew asked and took it in his hands.

"Trip to France. It happens every year. Should go too?"

Hebrew checked it out with his shiny green eyes.

"But,"

He looked up, and slowly Eva's smile faded.

"Are we a couple?" He smirked.

Eva rolled her eyes. "Oh yeah! We aren't...so...let it be."

She walked past him, but he caught her wrist and gave her a back hug.

Resting his chin on her neck, he whispered. "Let me get settled in this new house first. You know this new job as a detective and this sudden shifting, it has been tiresome for me."

Eva nodded, a smile crawled back to her face. Her one hand held Hebrew's hands, embracing her waist, while the other caressed his hair lightly.

"Hmm..." She inhaled deeply and exhaled.

"It's a new life, Flynn...shifting to Whitechapel is the best thing that happened in our life."

And Hebrew nodded.

~~~~~~~
"Eva!"
She blinked as she came out of her faded memories; she sniffed her nose and turned around only to find her husband wearing his mask.
"Honey, why are you standing alone here and- and...where are the maids?" He looked around the kitchen.
"Nothing, just...I was wondering what should I bring for you two?"
The boss nodded. "Don't be stressed out, honey, just a bottle of whiskey will work. I'll wait outside, bring it out."
She smiled at him; he smiled at her, and he walked away. Her eyes trailed his back and got stuck at the doorway. She missed Hebrew; she missed those days, when back then they were just...so happy.
And now she had nothing in her hand. No love, no family, and not even Hebrew.
A tear dropped, and she quickly wiped it out. Sniffing her nose again, she took out the ice cubes from the fridge and walked out with a bottle of whiskey...
