It's... you

Adrien's POV

I woke up, I had a long time to get ready before school started, I got ready and headed to the car, on my way to school, I saw Marinette, except, she looked sadder than usual as she was walking to school, as I reached the school entrance, I got off the limo, greeted the Gorilla goodbye, and entered school, in front of me, was Marinette, sitting on a bench, fidgeting with her hands. I had the instinct to walk up to her and sit next to her.

I greeted her, "Hey Marinette."

She hadn't noticed I was there, she looked quite surprised.

"A-A-drien? Oh...umm...hi." She stuttered.

Today, I noticed she wasn't wearing her usual cardigan, and on her shoulder blade I could see a small glimpse of what looked like...a soulmate mark. It was black, and I don't know why, but I instinctively reached for her shoulder, Marinette noticed what I was doing and leapt away.

I asked her, "Oh I'm so sorry Marinette, but was that your soulmate mark?"

She replied, eyes widening, "What? Did you see anything?!"

"What? No, of course not." I answered.

She narrowed her eyes but suddenly started rambling, "I-umm gotta go, we have classes and I don't want to be late!" She dashed toward class.

I looked at her, full of curiosity, I wonder who her soulmate is, and why she's trying to protect him so hard, maybe it's Luka, but if it was why did Marinette seem so protective of her soulmate? You know what? If Adrien can't get it out of Marinette, then Chat Noir will have to try. I thought.

Marinette's POV

"Focus Marinette, focus." I said to myself, I was doing some homework that Ms Bustier assigned us.

Tikki spoke encouraging words, "You can do it Marinette, Ladybug saves the day all the time, I bet she could do homework easily."

"Aww, thanks Tikki, but how am I supposed to focus if you keep talking." I giggled. I knew she had good intentions, but I couldn't focus if she kept saying encouraging words.

"Oh sorry Marinette." She said.

"It's O-" I stopped mid-sentence. There was someone on the balcony.

"Tikki hide." I whispered, she hid under my bed. I opened the trapdoor leading to the balcony, and to my surprise, it was Chat Noir.

"Hello Marinette." Chat Noir greeted. I was shocked, "Chat Noir? What are you doing here? again." I mumbled the last part, but Chat Noir, being a cat, he had exceptional hearing, and he easily heard it. He smirked, "Can't the knight in shining leather visit his...purrincess?"

I was flustered. Chat Noir seemed to notice this, and apologized, "So sorry Marinette, it was just the first thing that came to mind."

"It's fine, you can call me that, but that means I get to call you...kitty. Yeah, your nickname from me is kitty."

He grinned, "Sure." He swooped down, and kissed my hand.

I crossed my hands, "But would you care to explain why you're here? I highly doubt that you're here for pastries, so...why are you here?"

"Well, a little birdie told me you're not telling anyone who your soulmate is, because you want to protect them. And I came to ask, isn't that my job?" He asked.

I chuckled.

"It's a different kind of "protection", if everyone knew he was my soulmate, people would use me as his weakness, and also use him as my weakness." I explained.

"What? Who would be that important they'd use you as a weakness?" He asked.

"Marinette, we made some macaroons! Do you want some?" Mom called from downstairs.

"Well looks like that's my time to leave. See you again soon my princess." He headed for the window and leapt.

I looked at the window that Chat had leapt off of, and looked at Paris, "My kitty, you just don't know that the boy I'm protecting...is you." I whispered. Yet I knew no one would hear me.
