Postpartum

My mother wasn't herself throughout the pregnancy. She was so stressed about losing the baby she barely took care of herself. She was on bed rest most of the pregnancy. It as like the light inside her had dimmed. She was always angry or yelling at the smallest things. My dad tried and tried but he felt helpless. He had to ask my aunt to come stay with us for a few weeks after the birth. For the next two months, everything was getting more and more stressful the closer the birth was. And when the day finally came to meet my baby brother, everyone was so excited except mom just look terrified. Derek Channing Avery. And like that, I was a big sister. Exciting, right? Sadly, I had to wait a good minute before daddy came and got me from the waiting room. He was smiling from cheek to cheek. He picked me up and said" are you ready to meet your beautiful baby brother?" I shook my head with so much excitement. I walked into the room and thought I would see happy faces. But everyone was worried. My aunt was holding my baby brother and I was so ready to hold him. I ran over and sat down waiting patiently for my turn to hold him. Then I realized mommy wasn't smiling. She was just laying there staring at my aunt and Derek with a blank stare. She wasn't happy. My dad just told me she was tired when I asked if mommy as okay.
