Part Eight

Eden: Paradise Lost

Part Eight

The Square, Lyndsey's Apartment

Lily opens the door as Miles stands there, Lily smiles as she moves and lets him inside as she closes the door behind him. Lyndsey lays in her bed as the door opens and Miles steps inside and strips down to his boxers as he climbs into the bed and lays next to her as she has her eyes closed and yet smiles as he wraps his arms around her. She rubs his forearms as there is a comfortable silence as Miles closed his eyes as Lyndsey finally opened hers.

Lyndsey: What took you so long?

Miles: Maybe later...I'm just happy to be here right now…

She turns over on her side to face him.

Miles: Seeing that smile...and looking at your face... It's all I need sometimes.

She kisses him as he kisses her back, a tear falling from her eyes as they cuddle together, both of them drifting off to sleep.

Apocalyptica

Ajax and Jared sit at the bar as both share a beer as a couple of dancers are on the main stage as Adam comes over and pats them both on the shoulders.

Adam: How are two of my favorite regulars doing?

Jared: Adam, you dago bastard, where are the main girls at tonight?

Adam: Ahh, they left me today actually, of all days.

Jared: This day just keeps getting better and better, fuck.

Jared finishes his beer and quickly starts on another one.

Adam: Ajax, how are you?

Ajax; Seen and have lived better days, Adam.

Adam: Haven't we all? I mean, who really counts what we've been doing as living, lately?

Ajax: I'll drink to that.

Adam takes a beer and the three all take a long drink together.

Elsewhere, Prime 2

Brianna sets up her guns as Evelyn comes out of the back room with now top on

Evelyn: I can believe how big these suites are. They're so spacious and classy.

Brianna: Not when you're just walking around with your tits out, put a damn shirt on or something.

Evelyn frowns and goes back into the room as Makayla comes only in her bra and panties as Brianna scowls at her.

Mak: What? Sue me, I like my body.

Brianna: We're not strippers anymore, a little more class is in order within these walls.

Mandy: Yeah, but…

Brianna: I swear to god Mandy, you better not wall out here naked.

There's a long silence.

Mandy: Fine.

Brianna sighs and rolls her eyes as Evelyn comes back out with a bra on and a low cut shirt.

Evelyn: I'm gonna go hang with Amy and other others down the hall, at least they'll do blow with me.

Evelyn heads out as Makayla watched Brianna clean a .44

Mak: We're mercenaries, Brianna. We're lower than strippers in the female spectrum of this world. All our money to get into this place was all money made when we murdered innocent people.

Brianna: Don't talk to me about class and social status, and where we stand in society. we do what we have to do to survive. We adapt accordingly. Nothing more, nothing less.

Makayla rolls her eyes.

Makayla: If you say so…

Makayla goes into her room as Brianna continues cleaning her guns unfazed.

Elsewhere, Nick's Apartment

Rebecca groans loudly as Nick laid between her legs and was grinding his hips against her as she moaned out and screams as Nick moved faster, Rebecca digging her nails into his back as he rocks faster and then lets out a low grunt as he slowly jerks against her as her hands run up his back and over his neck as he leans down and kisses her as the two lay together, breathing heavy as Nick slowly moves off of her and heads into the bathroom stark naked as he takes his condom off and puts it into the trash as, Rebecca means up and grabs at her cigarettes and lights one.

Rebecca: Wow...what the hell got into you?

The toilet flushes and Nick comes out in boxers now, Rebecca covering up her nude body with the bed sheets as she takes a long drag and sets the cigarette down as Nick grabs a water.

Nick: I don't know, why?

Rebecca: It's just...it was different tonight.

Nick: Different how? in a bad way?

Rebecca: I don't know, Nick. It just felt like you were… distant, that's all.

Nick: I see.

Nick hands her the water as he sits on the bed in front of her.

Rebecca: What's on your mind?

Nick: After everything that's happened tonight, I don't know, I just got a lot on my mind. But I know it is not rational, it's not...shit...I don't know really what's going on in there myself I guess.

Rebecca scoots down a bit and rubs his shoulders.

Rebecca: That...makes no sense and makes you look really crazy, babe.

Nick smiles at her.

Nick: Is that so?

Rebecca: Kissing. Of course that's normal, I've had those types of unfocused thoughts on my mind tonight too. So I understand, but when you do figure it out, you'll tell me... right?

Nick smiles and pulls her to him for a sweet kiss.

Nick: Of course.

Rebecca smiles and lays down as Nick takes a drink from the water she hands him as he looks away from her stoically as he knew he had just lied.

Elsewhere, warehouse in Fool's Landing

Politician Justin Finch enters into a building as Four Men are loading two small jet planes full of explosives and other weaponry, Justin coming up to a fifth man who was watching the others.

Justin: Hockmeyer.

Domestic terrorist Jon Hockmeyer turns to Justin as Justin shakes his hand and smiles.

Justin: I see my shipments from Iran came.

Hockmeyer: No nukes. But enough bombs to cripple the defenses, lower a prime or two.

Justin: Just as long as you decimate that perimeter guard around fools landing and let the dead fucks inside.

Justin hands Jon a briefcase.

Hockmeyer: Is this all of it?

Justin: The rest of your money as well as access codes to the underground escape tunnels throughout the city, that leads right to the pier and the escape cruise liners. Plus an assortment of data keys to get you about Eden without fuss.

Hockmeyer: very good. How about post EDEN?

Justin: My friends in Ireland are happy to take you in, buy only you.

The two look at his men and Hockmeyer shrugs

Hockmeyer: Not a problem.

The two men shake hands

Justin: In two days, we can say goodbye to Paradise.

Hockmeyer: I normally don't ask why someone does or wants anything in my line of work. But in these times I have to ask, why do this?

Justin: Because this isn't my America. And that man is not my president. I'd rather see America fall then become what it is and as a patriot, it's my duty to serve this great nation, even in its extinction.

Hockmeyer: I don't really care what you think you are. Just be a man of your word. You try and screw me over and I'll kill you.

Justin: I read you loud and clear.

Justin flashes his grin and heads out with a wave as Hockmeyer hacks up some phlegm and spits as he goes back to watching his men.

Elsewhere, outpost I'm Fools Landing

President Feed and a few secret service men accompany him as he enters the outpost for the 23rd where Shane and Kris were waiting for them.

President: Gentlemen.

Kris: Mr. President

Shane says nothing.

President: So...was it Finch's men?

Shane: We don't know.

President: We got the jeeps back?

Kris: Yes sir.

President: Then how do you not know!?

Shane: We were attacked, lost two men.

The president notices their stern faces and regains his composure.

President: I am sorry.

Shane: You should be, we found nothing. No bodies, nothing. Just two Jeep's overrun with zombies.

Kris: No traces, no anything. We checked around a few miles radius, still, nothing. I'm sorry, sir. That's all we're able to report at this time. We have it all right here.

Kris hands the president a file as he looks over it and seems lost in his own thoughts before seemingly snapping out of my as he notices the men's stare.

President: Well, I...best be going then. At ease, men.

The president stands and grabs the file as he shakes both of their hands

President: Again, I am sorry for your regiment's loss.

President Geer stands near the door to the outposts as he is leaving.

President: I'm glad nothing came from this boys. Your men's lives may have seemed wasted but I can promise they weren't. They will live on forever as Patriots.

With that the president finally leaves his men close by as Shane waits for a long moment before he screams out in frustration and flips a table.

Shane: That sorry son of a bitch!

Kris does not say anything as he lets Shane vent.

Shane: He sat right there, edgy and nervous hoping we would feed him something and then when we told him what happened to two of our own he just…

Kris: It doesn't matter.

Shane stops as he looks at Kris.

Kris: Colby and John are dead, nothing we can do. He got told what he wanted and we kept up our cover. And right now, that's enough for me. So let it go, Shane.

Kris turns and leaves as Shane stands dejected as he sits down and rubs his hands through his hair.

Elsewhere, an apartment in the Square.

Mary yawns as Millie makes some popcorn as Krista thumbs through a stack of hundreds of DVDs.

Krista: Jesus Christ, Mary I have no idea what to pick for tonight. Half of this seems to be just lesbian porn.

Mary: We can watch that.

Millie: No, bad Mary! Bad!

Mary: Hey, shit gets lonely.

Krista: Not all the lesbians in the world are gone ya know.

Mary: Pfft, might as well be.

Krista finds a movie and shrugs as she puts it in the DVD player and pushes play once the option becomes available as the other two sit around her as they share the popcorn and watch the movie.

Elsewhere, The Misfit's Hangout- Fools Landing

Lance holds his right arm as he winced and then pulls up a book about the rise and fall of conventional communism in Russia. Terry knocks the door before entering the study as Lance looks up at him

Lance: What is it, Terry?

Terry: I send Cody, Dustin and Collin home if that's okay.

Lance: That is fine. Thank you, Terry. Max?

Terry: Hell be in that computer in the other room for a good while, you know how he gets.

Lance: That's true.

Terry: You mind if I?

Lance: of course not, comrade.

Terry goes and takes a seat in the other chair as Terry takes a breath.

Terry: Kyle, Jasmyn, Whitney, Frankie... Helluva night wouldn't you agree?

Lance: What are you wanting to get at with this, Terry?

Terry: I am your second in command, Lance. You've gotta share some things with your friends sometimes. If you carry every burden you're going to  crumble from it. Let us carry that weight too, boss.

Lance sets his book down as Terry reaches over and grabs a bottle of homebrew vodka and two shot glasses.

Terry: I know you don't trust anyone really, but i would like to think you could with me. Terry hands him a shot and Lance takes it as the two two shot glasses and drinks the shot.

Terry: You and the military guy, Kris, you guys went through a lot huh?

Lance: What gave that away?

Terry: Boss…

Lance: We survived Haven City together, it's not an unknown secret.

Terry: I know that, sir. But that's not what I was referring too.

Lance: Terry…

Terry: What happened between you two when you got here? What have you been keeping  to yourself all these years. It got too you tonight whatever it was I saw it when the others maybe didn't.

Lance: Terry...I can't…

Terry: Please, Boss. I need to know you can get us through hell when it finally hits. I wanna be able to fully trust the man I have chosen to ally with.

Terry pours them both another shot as Lance grips the chair and nods to himself.

Lance: Very well. I will tell you.

End of Part Eight.
