Chapter 8: Display of power

The tension of the air inside of the room changed because of the lightning generated by Kevin's power.

The room was bright, and the sound of buzzing lighting which struck around every corner of the room was loud.

The ground was shaking due to the intensity of the power.

Kevin opened his arms wide as he floated in the air and there was like a lighting wing behind him. With his head up he looked down at Lynx. His display of power was phenomenal and beautiful.

Lynx stood still in front of this display of power and looked at Kevin with confidence.

However, Kevin ignored Lynx's true abilities and stayed on his guard.

'Speed' Kevin thought. 'The only things that this guy lack is speed... Huhu, winning will be easy with my power' That's what Kevin realized after reflecting on Lynx's behavior until then.

'If I land a critical hit on him before he can move, it's my win... Even he won't survive after getting hit by my full power..' Kevin visualized the outcome of the battle inside of his head.

Then Kevin disappeared from Lynx's field of vision. He didn't vanish or teleported somewhere, he just moved at an amazing speed that the human eyes couldn't follow.

He waited for a chance to strike, a second when Lynx let his guard down and show an opening.

'From behind... I need to appear inside of his field of vision for a second, and use that to distract him then strike from behind with my full power... It will cause enormous damages to this place but it's worth it...' Kevin carefully planned his next actions.

Lynx didn't move even an inch.

Fiuu, fiuu, fiuuu!!!

The sounds of the air pierced by Kevin's speed made some fussing sounds.

The room was full of Kevin. He was everywhere, and nowhere at the same time. That showed that his speed wasn't something to be taken lightly.

Kevin was a level 8 electro master. He can use the electricity inside of his body and move from a point into another with fearful speed. Of course, that was very harmful to the human body so he could use his full power only for a limited time.

Nevertheless, since he didn't know about Lynx's ability, he used his full power to finish him quickly and avoid any risks.

'Now...' Kevin saw a little opening. He wanted to end everything with one strike from behind, and he directly aimed at lynx heart.

Kevin's attack would have completely destroyed Lynx's body, with only his head flying on the ground. At least, that was the plan.

Kevin used the opening left by Lynx and came at him from behind. Really, it looked like an underhanded attack but Kevin was the type of man who was only interested in the results.

He accumulated a high voltage of lighting charge on his right hand and in a fraction of second, he pierced through the air and aimed directly at Lynx's heart.

Bzzzzz!!!

A dazzling light covered the room.

The scene after that was unbelievable. Considering the power that Kevin displayed earlier.

"Gah..Ga... Hahaha... So I never stood a chance against you huh..." Kevin vomited blood with his knees on the floor, and Lynx's hand was right in front of his face. A scene of total defeat.

This outcome happened because there was one more thing concerning Lynx's power. Even if his power is to destroy, he can protect himself with it too, but only himself.

To put it simply, Lynx created a void space on his left, right, above him, and behind him. Since these void spaces were invisible, Lynx experimented many things by digging the ground in order to control it at will. That happened while he and the professor went to dig the precious stones. He then learned to assess the amount of energy that he needed to use in order to create the ideal size of the void space like the image in his mind. Certainly, that wasn't an easy task and it took him almost four years before he could use the void space at will.

The void space had spherical form and only expanded but didn't turn into a cylindrical shape. The void space doesn't move when activated and just grows bigger if get more energy. It only erases all of the things around it when it's growing bigger and just like a normal space when it's not expanding. However, when it disappears, all of the things that were inside of it disappear along with it, and the space return to its original state.

Let's say that the normal space is like the ocean. If someone forcefully inserts a transparent and light plastic ball inside of the water, it will forcefully make a space inside as long as you hold it, but when they draw it off of the water, the space inside of the water return to its original state. Similar to that ball, the void space forcefully inserts itself in the normal space so when it's deactivated, the space return to its normal state. However, every material that was inside of the void space gets compressed, because that space never existed and the normal space needs to regain its original state when the void space disappears.

It's like when someone puts the ball inside of a glass and puts it inside of the bathtub upside down, then fill the bathtub slowly with water. The ball exists inside of water but at the same time outside it, so when they take off the glass, the pressure of the water will be applied directly on the ball. Unlike the water, space compression is not a common phenomenon and the compressed objects vanish completely. Though logically speaking they still exist but it's like they are transported to another dimension 'A black hole'. Even time and light cannot escape.

Damages inflicted by the void space on material things don't revert back though. It's like when someone steps in the mud at the bottom of a puddle. The shape of their foot will stay there but the water will revert back.

That's why Lynx didn't suffer any damage when he got electrocuted, he created many void spaces and expanded them slowly to prevent the electric shock from coming at him. The two guards didn't remark it because it was invisible.

In Lynx's case, he needed to control the size of the ball, in other words, the void space. That was only possible by doing many experiments.

Lynx understood all of that at the age of seventeen. He realized that he was overpowered because he could maintain the void space for a certain amount of time. The void is space is not harmful after its activation. It only causes damage during its activation and when it disappears.

Lynx is almost invincible and can withstand any attacks as long as he erases them with the void space. That's not easy because he needs to deactivate the void space right before the attack hits him. If he misses the timing then the attack will hit him anyway. After all, the void space is just a normal space after when it's activated.

Clearly, this power wasn't a power meant to be wielded by humans. It was similar to the power of a more superior being if they existed, someone like the creator of the universe himself. 'The power of Creation and destruction.' Lynx's power was the Destruction, a power that can destroy the whole universe if the holder had the energy to create a void space of that size.

However, every power had a price for a human. Only infinite being can wield infinite power.

Lynx had a question inside his head 'Why do I have this power?' However, he never found the answer.

Nonetheless, Lynx's personality didn't have anything to do with his power.

Against Kevin, Lynx wanted to show the difference in power and prove that 'evil doesn't always win'. It was very ironic of him to think that, but it was not totally wrong.

It was not surprising to see Kevin down on his knees. Because when Kevin attacked Lynx from behind, Lynx deactivated the void space and Kevin's right hand along with shoulders disappeared with it, then Lynx used his corrosion ability punched Kevin on his stomach which caused heavy damage to his internal organs.

Lynx learned martial arts too during his formation.

Kevin lost too much blood and his face turned pale. While he held his stomach so that his intestinal won't burst out from the hole.

With his hand still on Kevin's face, Lynx looked down at him as if he was looking at an insect and said " Then, I just need to become the new God of this world right..."

"So he showed his true face as expected huh..." The professor said that while looking at Lynx through the monitor.

The professor was a man with blond hair and a beard. He wore a glass and a white lab coat.

"This is the reason why all of this is worth it... I wonder if this guy can really do it... This is exciting... hehe" The professor added.

There are some hidden things about Lynx's past. Like the true reason why the bully stopped bothering him and the true reason why his personality had a different facade like this.
