Chapter 7: The darkness inside of his heart

"Hahahahaha... So you just wanted to play the hero in the end huh... And after you kill us, what are you going to do with these girls? Huh? Will you shelter them all inside your house? Hahaha... It's not even funny for a joke..." Kevin laughed at Lynx while tapping his thigh with his hand, in order to show that Lynx's words were too absurd.

"Hahaha... haha... Really, you are an interesting fellow. Still, all of the things that you said earlier are practically impossible... If you want to eradicate all evil, then you need to erase humanity itself from this world... And even if you do that, do you think that you will find happiness in the end?" Kevin added.

Kevin's words sounded convincing. Lynx's goal was a dream among dreams.

"Don't worry, I am not that much of a good person... I just need to kill the bad guys, in the place of these heroes who can't do anything against them and then let these heroes take care of the rest... I just do the dirty jobs... I am not their savior or anything like that... In the end, I am just a villain who kills villains...." Lynx talked with a maniac smile.

"So you finally showed your true face huh... A sane person won't barge inside of a place full of guys who will kill him for sure after all... I guess psychopaths like you exist too..." Kevin was surprised and looked at Lynx with stunned eyes.

Lynx had confidence in his ability and he was a kind-hearted man, only when he didn't lose his calm.

"Evil people exist, so why people who want to kill them won't? I will ask again, what are you doing inside of this building?" Lynx voice was different from his cold voice and his cool voice, it was a villain like voice.

Lynx locked up himself inside of his room before, because he blamed himself. He had the power, he was there with her but couldn't do anything to save her. Even though he was not at fault, he couldn't help but think about it and blamed himself unconsciously.

He moved on from his parent's death with the help of a person important to him. Still, he resented these people and this world deep inside of his heart. Then, when he thought that he can live without thinking about that, he witnessed the dark side of humans again.

He wanted to find an excuse for himself. He wanted to justify himself by saying "I am not at fault, I did nothing wrong at all, these guys are the one who caused all of this... They need to be killed... For her sake... " In order to ease his heart.

Right inside that dark room, Lynx struggled against himself. A part of himself wanted to do things right but a different part just wanted to kill all of them. He then developed a new personality that is hidden deep inside of him, and occasionally take control of him when he is angry. That's how Lynx prevented himself from breaking apart.

Lynx had power 'But what about it?' He thought. He was just a 15 years boy with an overpowered weapon. He couldn't even save a single girl in front of his eyes. His power wasn't the power to save but the power to destroy. So "How to save by destroying?" The answer was simple, "Eliminate the sources of danger so you don't need to save anyone" That's how Lynx escaped from this harsh reality and made a reason for himself to move forward. He didn't even think about the results of his act at that moment.

The word 'revenge' never crossed his mind, but what he wanted to do was exactly the meaning of that word. Even though, because of his misplaced pride, he kept denying that inside of his mind.

After a year, Lynx finally went out of his room with a goal on his mind "Killing all of the evil figures who control this world in the dark." These people who killed his parents too.

A smile on his face, he said "Don't worry, I am alright now..." As he sat and ate breakfast like normal.

The woman who Lynx considered as his mother, didn't say anything and took her time to listen to Lynx. Of course, Lynx didn't talk about his goal but he felt loved when he talked to her. That helped Lynx to get back on his feet.

He then thought about a plan to make his ambitions reality and the timing was perfect.

Lynx's figure mother began to go out with a man. He was an agent of the Department of Internal Defense abbreviated DOID. The DOID was created to protect the city against potential threats from the inside. Like terrorist attempts, and some other crimes. Mostly, caused by the association of non-gifted who want equality. Dark organizations, or people who were not pleased with the current state of life.

The DIOD is not as popular as the Hunter Association which protects the city from the threats outside of the wall. Most of the people who worked at this department are the ones who failed to become a hunter.

Unfortunately, the DOID was controlled by the nobles, and the higher-ups and they couldn't do anything against people like Japhet.

Lynx got a source of information but he just had to get him to work with him.

One day, Lynx barged inside of his house and waited for him inside.

"Ah... Lynx what are doing here, How did you get inside? Hey, what are you reading... " The man was confused.

"Kain I will be straight with you... You are a potential danger for her... You can't protect her the way you are now..." Lynx's eyes were cold and his voice was so calm that it was frightening.

"What are talking about? " Kain asked with a confused tone and he was on his guard.

Lynx raised his hand towards Kain. Kain was alerted and thought that Lynx wanted to attack him but nothing happened, or so he thought, then suddenly the wind blew behind him. A phenomenon that should have been impossible since he was inside his house. Then he turned back and he saw a hole on the wall behind him.

Lynx then said "You already died just now... So tell me how are going to protect her if you can't even protect yourself? The higher-ups killed my parents because of this power and they will surely eliminate her too if they find out about me... However, I will kill all of these evil people before that, and protect you and her, while the only thing you have to do is to make her happy. So help me, or else I will have to make you disappear. I don't want a burden like you around if someday they find out about me. You can't go against their order, right? So will you capture me when that time comes, just to protect her? But she won't forgive you if you do that and she will be devastated, so I will eliminate you now before that happens..."

Kain just stood there listening to Lynx and wondering what's going on. He was overwhelmed.

"Wait... wait... Wait a minute..." Kain sat on a chair nearby with a hand on his forehead. The current situation was hard for him to process.

"To put it simply, I want you to provide me information about some people... That's only what you need to do... I will do the job that you guys are supposed to do in your place." Lynx added.

A 15 years old boy was threatening Kain and worse than that, he had the power to kill him. Now he wanted Kain to provide him information about people that he will certainly kill later. As a grown-up man, he should have refused without hesitation but as a man, Lynx's words had some effects on him.

"So what's your answer? If you chose to leave her too, I will kill you anyway because that would mean that you lied to her and your feelings for her were just some kind of jokes..." Lynx added.

Even if Kain were to fight Lynx, that wouldn't have solved the problem and that would make the girl he love sad. He looked at Lynx and saw that he wasn't someone who will listen to him anymore at that point.

Lynx's words made sense and Kain witnessed his power too. He knew that the higher-ups won't leave Lynx alone if they find out about him and will use every means to get him or eliminate him if he refused. However, providing classified information was a crime, and Kain would have been executed if he was discovered.

Kain hesitated because there was no turning back if he chose that path. However, he couldn't say no. He didn't have enough courage to sacrifice his loved one and go against Lynx.

"Don't worry, she will be happy if you just do your part of the job... I will take all of the responsibility..." Lynx looked at Kain with confident eyes.

'Which responsibility?' Kain thought inside of his heart.

Lynx didn't have anything to worry about Kain, because it was obvious that she will listen to him more than Kain, even if he tried to betray him.

That day Lynx got on his hand many pieces of information, coming from the DOID's database. He hacked it because Kain's access was limited and that wasn't the type of information that he needed from Kain, he just wanted him to act as a spy and monitor the DOID from the inside. He always secured his escape route that way.

However, he needed some funds in order to move around freely and buy the necessary materials to prepare for every situation.

That's when he heard rumors about a super satellite on the internet and confirmed it inside of the DOID's database. He found that very interesting and tried to hack it.

However, hacking that monster wasn't a piece of cake. The one who built that satellite was a super genius but Lynx was a genius too himself. He finally hacked it after a month, using only the minimum materials on his hand.

That satellite had a scanner function and many over advanced technologies, which were very useful to Lynx in his future actions.

He finally pinpointed the location of some precious stones that could have been sold for high prices.

However, he was still under-aged, couldn't attract people's attention, and couldn't travel around too. He was lost in his thoughts for days.

He wanted a partner. That silly thought crossed Lynx's mind after a while. Obviously, that was impossible. Kain was just a source of information and cannot do the job with Lynx.

Lynx's personality prevented him from doing anything foolish. He was always cautious. He didn't lose his common sense.

It was difficult to move around and kill people, even with Lynx's power. He never wanted to kill innocent people too. However, killing is killing for him and these thoughts devoured him from the inside.

Desperate, Lynx searched aimlessly through the database of the DOID and found something interesting.

A rumored mad scientist among the agent of DIOD, but a famous inventor in the eyes of the public. Of course, Lynx knew about him and read some of his books.

Lynx didn't think too much about it at first, but then he found out that the man was divorced and lived alone.

This man was a genius among the genius. A perfect partner and having him aboard was certainly the perfect outcome. However, Lynx didn't find any good reason to get a person like that work with him.

Lynx decided to give it a shot anyway, without too much hope. He checked his address and went to his house. Opening the door was easy for him but he used his power to move underground and directly entered the house from below. It didn't attract attention that way.

He checked the house thoughtfully but nothing stood out apart from the research records.

Then he found a little diary. The man wrote something inside it, and with that Lynx found a reason to get this man work with him.

He convinced the professor in the end.

They went to dig the precious stones using Lynx power, then used the professor's connection to sell them at a fair price.

Then the professor resigned from his job but the higher up didn't want to let go of him. Then he cut his ties with the world and went underground, to hide inside of a hideout that he built with Lynx, using the funds from the stones.

He continued to invent things but exclusively for Lynx and his goal. They used the following four years to prepare for Lynx's first mission after that.

The professor had a rough idea about Lynx's personality but he found that interesting too.

He then asked Lynx to check this girl in order to affirm his doubts.

"Hahaha... Interesting, truly interesting..." Kevin began to laugh while covering his face with one of his hands, then he stood up.

"However, we are running a business here so I can't let you do that... " Kevin added.

Lighting began to gather around Kevin's body as he slowly floated in the air.

Then looking down at Lynx Kevin said "Let's see what you got since you look very confident with that ridiculous goal of yours..."
