Chapter 6: Who are you to judge?

"Wait..." Kevin raised his hands and made a gesture suggesting that he didn't want to fight.

"Okay I will answer your questions, but let me call someone to treat my men first. Don't worry I will stay here, and you can kill me at will if you wanted to right..." Kevin requested.

Lynx stayed quiet, so Kevin took that as a yes.

Soon after, some people took the two security guards away while Kevin and Lynx stood still and looked at each other.

Kevin was cautious because he didn't know about Lynx's true abilities. Agreeing to his request showed that Lynx was confident in his ability, so he was on his guard.

However, he understood that Lynx was open for a discussion and used that to buy time.

After his men left the room, Kevin calmly sat on the chair which was inside of the observatory room. He was very calm and composed as he crossed his legs elegantly.

"So?" Kevin asked. He had many assumptions about Lynx's goal, and he judged Lynx as a potential threat, so wanted to avoid a fight at all cost.

Lynx advanced and stood at least two meters away, in front of Kevin.

"What are doing inside of this building?" Lynx asked with a serious voice.

"This is a Love hotel. If you want more information then visit our official page www.******.com on the internet, we have the detailed information there along with the catalog, pay system and photos of the girls who are available at the moment..." Kevin answered with a serious face too.

Then, they just stared at each other's face for minutes.

"Is the girl named Liza working here too then?" Lynx asked one more question.

"Ah... Her... Is she your Ex-girlfriend or your fiancee?" Kevin talked with a sarcastic tone.

"How did she end up here?" Lynx asked and ignored Kevin's remarks.

"Hmmm... What do you mean? Don't misunderstand, every girl who works here is doing their job out of their own free will... They do it in order to live... So I will ask you again, what are doing here?" Kevin cunningly put a question at the end.

"Don't tell me that, you did all of this to save her or crap like that... Are you sane? Kevin added.

Lynx's expression didn't change and just glared at Kevin. Then he said "The things that you are doing here are human traffic and exploitation of women right? You picked up these girls outside and then made them do jobs like this... Even if I didn't come here to save her, I have more than enough reason to eliminate every person affiliated to this place..." Lynx talked with a menacing tone. Even Kevin had chills at that moment.

"What are you talking about... You sound really naive young man... Do you think that this world is kind to everyone... What do you think would have happened to these girls, if they stayed outside? We picked up these girls and saved them from being devoured by some monsters outside. Isn't that an act of pure kindness? However, we are not a charity organization. They have to work if they want to live, and that's normal... What's wrong about that? Kevin talked with a confident tone. "And who are you to judge if that's wrong or right? " Kevin added.

Kevin's words sounded really logical.

In this world, humanity built many huge fortresses in order to live in peace and protect themselves from the mysterious things that roamed outside.

Strangely, some people were left outside. No one knows the real reason, but legends said that these people turned into monsters after some time, so the first organization of gifted people banished them outside.

Still, some underground organizations like Kevin's place picked some people from the outside and used them in various jobs. They aren't officially registered as citizens so they can do many dirty jobs and easy to dispose of.

Only some selected people know about the situation outside, and even they cannot really understand it.

One of the most popular jobs in this world was becoming a Hunter. Many young people were interested in this job, mostly because of the fame and popularity that hunters received.

However, Lynx had a very particular ambition.

"If every evil in the world is gone, does that mean that the world will change?" Lynx didn't answer Kevin's question but asked another one.

"What are talking about?" Kevin asked with a confused face.

"All of these past years I thought about it, right after losing someone precious to me. Then I realized that if human exists, the world will never change. People will suffer and people will die, even overpowered power won't save them... At some point, I wanted to be a hero who saves everyone with a smile on my face and says 'It's alright'... However, the reality was different... Because in reality, heroes never win against evil... There's nothing they can do against a person loved by the public, there's nothing they can do when the law set the evildoers free, there's nothing they can do against the people who are backed up by the higher-ups. So I thought why don't I just kill them all... But that's not the kind of thought that a hero should have... Right?"

Lynx's sounded like a different person for a moment and it made Kevin more confused.

That was only natural because Kevin didn't know anything about Lynx.

Lynx's past was painful for him to remember.

-

"Hi there, what are your reading?"

That day, Lynx was reading a book outside on the school ground. That place was relaxing for him because it was a little far from the building.

It was a special place for him, and so was that nice girl with a soft voice.

"It's a book about technology..." Lynx replied without letting the girl realize that he was a little embarrassed.

Lynx was bullied at the time. Because when he lost his parents in a plane crash, he promised the who took him in to not use his power outside, until he graduates and had better control of his power.

These people mistook him for a cripple when he pretended to not have power during Physical and Power training classes.

These people began to harass him and the other cripple out of ill intentions and pleasure in watching them scared. These people thought that they were above these cripple who didn't have power.

However, Lynx didn't really care and never ran away from them. He always used his intelligence to beat them. When they wrote insults on his desk, he turned it into an artistical illustration. When they tried to kick his table, he built a set of removable sharp long metals and put them on the legs and edge of his desk when the lunch break came. He built a little camera too and put it inside of his glass, then recorded a video with it when the bullies made their move. He always carried a voice recorder too and submitted the voices or the videos of these bullies anonymously at the principal's office if they frightened him or the other students. He always trained his body too and had a nice body build. He always came very early in the morning, to prepare all of that. He enjoyed doing it at some point. He spent his free time to think about some new tricks against these bullies.

However, he never had a true friend, until he met that certain girl.

The bullies left Lynx alone after a while, and he began to read a book at that place when lunch break came because he didn't want to stay inside of the classroom. Then that girl came and asked that question.

Lynx knew her because she was from the class next door, and she was one of the most popular girls in their school.

Lynx didn't want to attract attention though, so he just stayed quiet and focused on his book after answering the girl's question.

The girl just sat quietly next to him too.

Then the next day, she came to the place again with a lunch box carefully wrapped and sat next Lynx. They began to eat their lunch after.

Lynx didn't mind her presence at all, and he didn't say anything too.

The mood was quite comfortable for both of them.

They continued to eat there together again after that, without saying anything to each other. It continued for days.

That girl was popular not only because of her beauty and intelligence but because of her sister too.

In the end, the girl talked first.

"You are really a strange boy..." The girl said these words with a relaxed face and a light smile.

"Mmmm...Is that so..." Lynx talked Indifferently, but his heart raced very hard.

Like any other boy with normal sexual urges, Lynx was overwhelmed by the beauty of the girl.

"People around me keep asking questions, about me, my love life, the progression of my power control, and mostly about my sisters. It's not that bad, but I feel that they have great expectations for me... Even though I don't really want to become a hunter like my sister..." The girl looked a little down.

"Sorry, hahaha... I'm just talking to my self..." She added.

Lynx never asked anything about this girl and just kept eating lunch with her quietly while reading his books. He didn't know how much that quiet time meant to this girl.

Then the next day she gave Lynx something.

"Here, try it... " She handed some cookies to Lynx with a red face.

Even in this world, that gesture will certainly give a boy the wrong idea.

However, something like that doesn't work on Lynx, or so he thought, but seeing the embarrassed face of this girl made him really uncomfortable.

"Ok...Thanks" He took one the cookies and ate it.

"Mmm... It's good I guess..." Lynx gave out that comment because the girl's face looked like she wanted to hear that.

"Don't get the wrong idea, I just learned how to make cookies for the someone I love and I wanted you to taste it as an experiment, that's all..." She said these words while blushing.

"Ah...is that so..." Lynx had a bittersweet feeling when he said these words.

The two of them continued to meet after that, and it caused some rumors about them.

"I think you should be careful, you have a person you like right... People talk bad about you behind your back you know, like we are secretly dating or you are bullying me..." Lynx talked with a concerned voice because he knew about these rumors.

"Don't worry, people like doing that just because they don't have anything better to talk about, they will forget about it when they see that they were wrong... And mine is just a one-sided love... He just sees me as a little sister and only has his eyes for my older sister..." The girl talked calmly with a bit trace of sadness.

Lynx thought 'Why is she talking about that with me...' But he read the mood and didn't ask.

Lynx never had a long talk with a girl of his own age before. It was a new experience for him. He thought 'Ah... so even people like her have their own worries huh...'

Lynx and that girl grew more and more closer as time passed. The topics of their discussions were often based on books and interesting things around the world. Since Lynx had vast knowledge and read many books, he never ran out of topics. Still, he was worried if the girl was bored talking about that everyday.

However, their meeting was a little moment of distraction for the girl, and she felt really comfortable talking to Lynx. Far from the reality that she had to face every day, the expectations of the people around her, the feeling of unrequited love, the boys and men who chased after her day and night. She forgot all of that during their moment together.

Lynx never felt a romantic feeling for someone before that, so he just went with the flow without realizing his true feelings. The desire to see that girl's smile, to hear her voice, to talk to her; he thought of them as normal feelings towards a friend.

"Hey Lynx, will you come with me this Saturday? My sister is coming back from a mission, and he too... I don't really want to go there alone... Sorry, I am asking too much right?" The girl talked with a soft voice and acted embarrassed while playing with her fingers.

Lynx's heart went 'Ba-dum' at that moment.

"Sure... It's alright..." Lynx replied with a calm voice without a trace of embarrassment but deep inside he was happy.

"Okay... See you on Saturday then..." The girl cutely waved at him then walked away.

Lynx was excited about it, and couldn't even sleep at night.

The one who lived with him remarked Lynx's strange behavior too but didn't say anything. That was the first time she saw him with that kind of smile after all.

The day of their meeting arrived and Lynx dressed up for the occasion. He was certainly handsome.

They met up at a certain station and then took a taxi to the airport.

Many people already waited there. They were all excited about seeing the most powerful and most popular hunter Japhet Klein, and his squad members.

The girl's sister was part of this squad but she wasn't with Japhet at that moment.

The girl was shocked and rushed at them but the security guard held her.

"Jayyyyyyyy!!! Where is she? where is she?"

She was talking to the red-haired man among the 12 members who were present there. He was her long time crush.

The security guard used their power of metal control to hold her, but she used a blazing fire to free herself from the security guards.

Lynx tried to catch her but he was blocked by the foul who was almost uncontrollable.

Suddenly, everything stopped. No one moved, and it seemed like time stopped. However, Japhet and his squad members could move and Lynx too. He used his power unconsciously.

"Do you know him, Jay?" Japhet asked.

"Yeah... She is Mia's little sister..." Jay answered.

"Haha... This is a good way to show her that she can't save everyone... She is a precious team member after all... She needs to listen to my order or else the higher up won't be happy..."

Japhet's eyes were full of malice as he raised his right hand and then sliced the girl with a ray of light. That happened in a second and Lynx couldn't even move.

Japhet then said "Make her disappear without a trace... I hope Mia learns her lesson now..." Then with his cold eyes, he looked like he was looking directly at Lynx.

Lynx shivered. He wanted to shout out and ask them to stop. He knew that he had to stop them but he was scared of losing control of his power again for a second, and before he could gather enough courage, everything already ended and returned to normal. People continued to get excited over Japhet's and his squad and the girl disappeared like she never existed in that place.

The girl was never found after that, and it was said that she moved with her family. Everything continued like nothing happened.

However, Lynx knew the truth.

She was killed right in front of his eyes. He was devastated again.

He returned home with an awful face. He looked like he could die anytime.

He locked himself in his room and barely ate anything. Crawled on his bed, he began to mutter day and night.

The presence of that girl in his life was bigger than he thought, but the fact that he couldn't save her was more difficult for him to bear.

He lost his parents because of his power but at that time he couldn't save her because he didn't use his power.

'Why? Why?.... I could have saved her... Why didn't I move? Why did he kill her? What the hell is wrong with that guy? He is not a hero, he is not even a human being... I should have killed him...Ha..ha..ha...."

His voice was full of anxiousness as he began to bite his fingers.

He kept asking these questions again and again.

At some point, Lynx went insane.

The girl didn't do anything wrong, but she was killed just because the higher-ups weren't happy. 'Can you kill someone based on your mood?' Lynx thought.

"I will kill them, I will kill them, kill them, kill them..."

Even though, he blamed himself the most.

He couldn't do anything to save that girl.

Lynx never forgot about that incident, but later someone helped him to get back on his feet.

When Kevin asked Lynx 'Who are you to judge us?'

Lynx replied, "I am not here to judge you, I am just here to do a dirty job because no one will do it in my place..."
