Chapter 9-I’ll Help You on a Condition

Without realizing where her feet were taking her, Mumut was surprised when the man greeted her. She just realized that she was already in Bian's room. The man looked at her coldly without a smile on his face and asked what she needed. Mumut became nervous as it turned out she was already sitting in front of Bian's desk.

If it was Bian's father, Mumut could easily say what she needed. Mumut's father used to be Bian's father's driver for several years before he passed away in an accident. Because of that, he had often helped Mumut whenever she had financial problems. Mr. Hartono helped pay for her tuition fees so that her salary could be used for other purposes. But since Mr. Hartono's demise, she had had to pay for all of these with her own paycheck. She had sold her battered laptop and motorcycle to pay for her tuition fees.

Bian looked at her, waiting for an answer. His eyes looked so dark as if something was bothering him.

Mumut was nervous. She didn't know what to say, but she knew she couldn't just let this chance go. Mumut was determined to convey her problem to Bian. She didn't care if Bian didn't help and even kicked her out of his office.

Nervously, Mumut began to tell him about her mother, who was now lying in the hospital and suffered a fractured thigh bone after an accident. The hospital had asked her to settle a down payment of ten million Rupiahs in advance for further treatments. Mumut didn't have that much money. The finance department had rejected her application for a cash advance because she didn't have enough salary left to be deducted. So, she requested relief to be able to borrow money from the company. She didn't care if, later on, her salary was even minus. She would pay it by working even harder.

Bian stared at the girl for a long time, and an idea suddenly appeared in his mind. His eyes glanced at the pink invitation lying on the table, which had made him upset for the last couple of days. Bian recalled that Ristie's wedding invitation was still three weeks away. Randy suggested that he find a girl to accompany him to Ristie's wedding reception so that the girl would realize that Bian could move on from her quickly. Bian refused the proposal firmly as he was still in love with Ristie. After all, how could he find a girl who wanted him so quickly?

Mumut lowered her head when Bian looked at her, and she felt her chest rumbling, waiting for Bian's answer. She felt very uncomfortable with this situation. All she could do was pray that Bian would grant her request.

After observing the girl for a long time, Bian could see that she was quite attractive, even though her appearance was plain. Currently, Mumut was wearing a janitor uniform with a white headscarf without any makeup at all. Bian was sure that the girl would look beautiful when she dressed up, and he would bring this girl to Ristie's wedding reception. Bian wanted to see how his ex reacted when she saw him with another girl.

Bian looked back at Mumut. In his eyes, this girl looked different from other girls. Bian remembered that this girl had often come into his office to clean it, but he never saw her trying to tease him like many other female employees. Even the whole time she was in his office to talk to him, the girl had always lowered her face down.

"Okay," after a long silence, Bian finally spoke, "I will bear all of your mother's expenses while she was in the hospital, but there are conditions. If you agree, I will pay for the expenses immediately."

"As long as the conditions do not violate any religious orders, I will try," replied Mumut, squeezing the hem of her shirt.
