Accident

Mumut immediately put down the tray in the pantry and headed for the prayer room to do the Duha prayer. After Duha prayer, she returned to the pantry and took a small Qur'an in her locker and began to read in a soft but lovely voice.

Suddenly her cellphone rang. There was the name of one of her neighbors on the screen. She immediately picked it up.

"Hello ... Assalamu'alaikum"

"Wa'alaikum salam ... Mut, this is Auntie Wati. Your mother, your mother, had an accident, Mut. It was a hit and run, and her condition is severe. She needs treatment immediately at Cempaka Hospital. "

Mrs. Wati lived next to Mumut's rented house. This middle-aged woman always helped Mumut and her mother when they were in trouble.

"Yes, ma'am. I'll go there," replied Mumut, in a daze.

Mumut immediately excused herself to Harti to see her mother's condition in the hospital. Harti immediately told Hari to take her, and the man happily agreed. Mumut wanted to refuse, but with various considerations, Mumut finally agreed. They immediately went to Cempaka Hospital and met Wati in front of the emergency room and hugged her as she cried. She took Mumut into the emergency room and asked the nurse to see her mother.

Hari followed them from behind. Mumut cried when she saw her mother's unconscious condition. There was an IV tube attached to her left arm, her leg was broken, and part of her face was covered with bandages.

Mumut then headed for the treatment room to hear further explanation from the medical officer on duty. She only bowed her head in agreement when the officer asked her to settle a sum of money as a down payment before her mother could receive further treatment.

On the way back to the office, Mumut felt like her head was about to explode. She didn't know how she would get that much money. Her debt at the company was so massive that it left her with a very low salary, which was not even enough for her daily transport. So far, to get an additional income, Mumut did the paperworks of her friends who were unable or lazy to do their tasks. But she couldn't count on it, and the money she got from it was not much anyway. Should she borrow from Atmi, her neighbor, who was a loan shark? Mumut was not sure that she would be approved. There was nothing valuable in her house that could be used as a collateral.

Arriving at the office, Mumut immediately went to the pantry and cried there. Hari just followed her. He was also confused on how to help her, as he himself didn't have that much money. He just sat next to Mumut and stared at the girl in confusion.

Suddenly Mumut wiped her tears, and she then walked towards Mrs. Padma's office to meet her. Mumut thought that she would try to borrow again from the office, even though the possibility of it being approved was tiny. Mrs. Padma smiled at her request.

"Sorry, Mut. I can't approve your request this time. There's a company policy that you have violated when you borrowed the company money last time. Now I can't help you anymore," she then looked down for a few moments before finally handing over an envelope. "This is just a little help for your mother, and I hope it can be useful."

Mumut nodded and thanked her as she received the envelope. Mrs. Padma was very kind to her and always helped Mumut's financial difficulties. It was Mrs. Padma who had made the policy for Mumut when she borrowed a certain amount of money a few months ago so that she would still receive her meager salary by extending the length of her installments.

Mumut came out of Mrs. Padma's office with unsteady steps. Back then when Bian's father still led the company, she was often helped by the man when she was in trouble; not only her, but almost all the employees. Without knowing where her feet were going, Mumut realized that she was already in Bian's office when the man asked her what she needed.
