I Don't Think So

Indra was stupefied by New York City. The bustling crowd, advanced vehicles known as cars and motor bikes all felt strange and yet appealing to his eye. Ignoring the looks of the bystanders, he continued walking at his pace as Freddy continued to follow along embarrassingly.

Although, not too many people were aware of other worlders, it was a strange sight for others to notice a man wearing an attire of the olden times. Although some found of it strange, the others fully ignored, as each and everyone had their own tastes to clothing.

"So why do you plan on going to the library?"

"I need information. I'm sure you guys have enough information since Imperial Era right?" Indra asked, as he continued to walk briskly by the pavement, as he continued to pass various restaurants and other stores.

"Yeah, they have an encyclopedia and other history books, here turn left, right across the street is the main library." Freddy responded, as he grabbed Indra by the shoulder and walked him across the street.

"What are you doing? I can walk on my own." Indra retorted.

"Just making sure, if you did not know how to cross a road."

"I'm not an idiot, if I see something coming towards me at full speed, it's obvious to get out of the way." Indra rolled his eyes.

The man next to him was underestimating him too much. Though he lacked the information on the technological world, he was not lacking common sense. Removing his arm from his shoulder, Freddy and Indra went inside the library.

'Fantastic, I'm impressed how far we humans have come.' Indra thought.

Taking his seat, he requested Freddy to bring him as many books as he could on history, encyclopedia and other new information he was supposed to learn about this technological world. Freddy left to get the books, while he waited.

On the corner of his eye, he noticed a woman acting strangely on another table. She placed a small black bag under her chair and glanced around slowly to make sure no one noticed her.

Using his super vision, he was able to trace huge amounts of radiation and light present within the bag. Moments later, Freddy soon arrived with a huge cart of books, only to notice Indra eyeing a woman suspiciously.

"Uh, so you like her?"

"Not that you idiot, I'm detecting huge amounts of radiation from that strange object."

"What?!" Freddy immediately shut his mouth, when he noticed everyone in the library look at him before getting back to their work.

"That's a bomb! If it's in that bag, then so many people will die. We need to call the police!" He whispered in trepidation.

"Police?"

"My god how do I explain, you could call them the protectors of this city." He whispered.

"Hmm, alright but before you call them, I have a plan." Indra smiled as he whispered something in Freddy's ears. Soon enough, the woman got up from her seat and made her way down the stairs.

While she was about to exit her way out, she noticed a man grab her hand and the black bag on the other hand.

"Forgetting something Madam?" Indra smiled.

The woman's eyes widened in surprise, and struggled free from his grasp. Noticing his arm not budge, she stopped struggling and started smiling viciously.

"Then, why don't we all die together?" The woman reached for the detonator in her pocket, and pressed the button.

Just as the bomb was in the process of exploding, Indra who noticed the huge spike in energy, immediately rushed outside the library with his speed and threw the bag as high as he could into the air. He rushed back in and tied the woman outside the library and waited for the protectors of this city to arrive.

'Boom'

A huge explosion resounded in the sky, as the people on the streets panicked and scurried away. The girl who had detonated the bomb, had not understood the events which just happened.

She was alive, the library was intact and the bomb surprisingly exploded elsewhere? When she saw herself being tied up, she then looked up at Indra who was looking at her full of killing intent.

Afraid of such pressure, she started screaming in fear, only in time for the police to arrive. Hearing the sirens, Freddy immediately pointed towards the assailant. The police arrested her, and evacuated other civilians within the library to perform a search inside the building.

"Good job Fred." Indra replied, as he noticed the police drive away with the criminal.

"I didn't do much. Besides how on earth were you fast to enough to throw the bomb high in the air, and prevent the girl from escaping? You were like a hero!" Indra staggered back when he almost imagined Freddy having stars in his eyes.

"Well, I'm fast, but seriously a hero? I don't think so." Indra replied jokingly. Nevertheless, not wanting to garner more attention, Indra grabbed the star struck Freddy, and walked away from the scene.

--

A middle aged butler slowly arrived in front of the door, and slightly tapped on it. Receiving an approval, he walked in and placed the tray on the center table.

He carefully took out a bottle and poured it in a wine glass. Finishing his deeds, he then noticed a body severely deformed with blood dripping out of it's head, as if something smashed against it with extreme force.

Noticing a figure within the showers, the butler smiled and continued to wait, till the showering finally stopped.

"A very good morning sir." The butler bowed.

"Morning Winston, I'm sorry for the extra mess." The huge man replied as he sat on his couch with his white bath robes on.

"Not at all sir. Why don't you have your usual Tempranillo, while I clean this up." Winston immediately gathered his tools, and started to clean the splattered blood by the wall and the organs tattered on the ground.

Any other person would have turned insane upon such chaotic view, however to Winston, it was just like any other day.

"This is good wine, thank you Winston" Winston bowed and continued with his work, while the huge man took his remote and turned the television on.

"This morning, sources sited a terrorist, bomb the main library only to be stopped by a man name Freddy Paine. The terrorist was arrested and officials stated that the terrorist was dead an hour after she was imprisoned. Autopsy, declared it as cyanide poisoning..."

"Any updates on them?" The huge man asked, as he continued watching the local news.

"No sir, Golden Enterprises are still laying low. However one of our spies have managed to find out that they went to the Sokanon tribe to negotiate." Winston stated. Feigning ignorance, the huge man continued watching the television in silence.

"Sir, I have just received a very important news, related to the bombing incident this morning. One of our sources have managed to pick up faint traces of magical energy."

"What about the person?"

"We suspect that it might be the person called Freddy Paine." The butler responded as he wrapped the body in a sheet and was ready to dispose it.

"And what of the person next to him?" The huge man asked.

"We tried tracing him in our database, but found no clues about him."

Hearing his reply, the man stood up and headed over to his wardrobe.

"Continue searching about this unknown man, and keep an eye on Freddy Paine. I need every minute detail on them." The man replied as he started to put his suit on.

"Will do. Sir would you like our members to gather?" The butler responded.

"Please do so." The man replied as walked over to the television and smiled at the two figures like he was looking at his new prey.

"I can't wait to meet the both of you."

--

"Because of that lady, I could not read anything today!" Indra replied as he calmed himself down.

"Well, you could always study it on my computer. Most of the information is available on the internet anyways." Indra heaved a sigh of relief.

It seems that information was readily available everywhere, as long as one had that strange looking box with them.

"So this is your house?" Indra looked at Freddy in disappointment.

"Don't tell me you wanted a mansion? If I wasn't here, you'd be on the streets starving." Freddy annoyingly replied as he walked up the stairs by his apartment and unlocked his door. Though the house was small, it was clean and well kept. A small room, less furnished with only one table and a computer.

"I'm impressed with your room, puny mortal." Indra spoke in a deep voice startling Freddy.

"Why are you talking like an old man?"

"Oh just wanted to see your reaction. Don't worry I do not plan on staying at your house for much longer. I do not want to burden you any further."

"It''s fine, besides you're the third person to ever step into my house." He responded gloomily.

"Third person? Who are the first two?" Indra asked out of curiosity.

"My-my parents." Freddy looked down to see Indra rolling on the floor laughing hysterically.

"Oh my god this is too funny! Wait, so you don't have a lover, a concubine or such sort?" Indra continued to laugh, irritating Freddy.

"Real funny aren't we, and how long are you going to laugh anyways? Besides, who has a concubine these days; it's either a girlfriend or a wife. Don't you have one considering Mr. Hotshot has cool powers?"

Noticing Indra not reply and put his head down in embarrassment, this time it was Freddy's turn to laugh.
