The Cosa Nostra (Part 3)

Kirishima stared down at the letter that Present Mic had given him. He had applied to a few agencies, but this letter wasn't from any of those agencies. It was from the Fatgum Agency. He opened it up and read the letter.

Dear Eijiro Kirishima,

I'm Fatgum: head of the Fatgum Agency. Seems a little obvious now that I'm writing it out. Anyways, I'll keep this short. I've read your file and I would honored if you would join my agency for your internship. I hope to hear from you soon.

-Fatgum

The rest of the letter had additional information, such as a phone number, the agency's email, and even some more information about the agency. Kirishima didn't know what to think. He had been rejected by all of the Agencies he applied to. However, this hero had gone out of his way to recruit him. Mina looked over at the letter. "Are you going to accept it?" Kirishima thought for a minute before nodding. "I can't afford to be picky. It's better to learn under him than sit here all year." Mina smiled. Then Present Mic came back with more letters. "Chris, Jason, Mina, and Momo: you have mail." Momo opened up her acceptance letter with a smile. "The hero Ryukyu accepted me." Mina looked over. "Isn't that the hero that can turn into a dragon?" Chris smiled up at Mina. "She's also the current Number 9 Hero." Jason sighed. "Dude, you need a girlfriend." The entire group turned to face him. Jason blinked a few times as he realized what he had just said. "...Withdrawn." The group laughed quietly as Mina opened up her letter. It wasn't an acceptance letter. Like Kirishima, it was a request for Mina to join a Hero Agency. It was from the Ryukyu Agency. Mina looked up at Momo. "Hey, the hero that accepted you also requested I serve at her agency." Momo was excited. "We'll be partners!" Chris looked over at Shoto. "One would think that the winner of the 1st Sports Festival would have more acceptance letters." She turned in her seat to face him. "No letters were needed. I'm going to the Endeavor Agency to learn how to control my flames better." Jason and Chris looked at each other and nodded as they opened their letters. They were both acceptance letters from the Night Eye Agency. Chris smiled. "All Might's email worked." Jason put the letter in his backpack. "It said we have a week to pack our stuff and report to his agency." Chris looked over at him. "The Night Eye Agency is in Los Angeles, right? Are we really expected to make that long trip back and forth everyday?" Momo turned to her boyfriend. "For those of us applying to Hero Agencies more than an hour away from the dorms, we're getting free hotel rooms." Mina looked over. "Five star hotels?!" Kirishima chuckled. "I doubt it."

Later the following week, Momo began packing her bags. Chris knocked on her open dorm door. "Knock knock." She turned and smiled. "Hey. Came to say goodbye?" "Kind of. I know you're leaving early tomorrow morning and I really don't know if I'll be awake to see you off." Momo nodded and sat on her bed. Chris sat down next to her. "Nervous?" She nodded. "We're going to be doing real hero work. No more tests, no more pop quizzes, and no more hand holding. It'll be do or die." Chris nodded, listening to his significant other. When she fell silent, he spoke. "The Ryukyu Agency is in Sacramento, correct?" She nodded. He smiled. "That's only a few hours away. We could definitely try to see each other during our off days." Momo smiled up at him, wiping away some tears that had been starting to form. "I would love that." Chris gently pulled her into a kiss: their last one for a while.

Mina took a nervous breath. She had been standing in front of Kirishima's room for a little over 10 minutes. She finally gained the courage to knock. After a few moments, Kirishima nodded. He smiled. "Hey Mina. What's up?" "Hey… can I… can I come in…?" Kirishima stood out of the way so she could enter. He had also been packing his stuff. She looked over at him with a sad smile. "...It'll be a while before we see each other again…" Kirishima sadly nodded. Mina looked down at the carpet. "...I'll miss you…" Kirishima sat on his bed. "Mina, are you ok?" She sighed. She wanted to tell him how much she loved him. She looked up and into Kirishima's eyes. He slightly smiled. At the last possible second, she couldn't bring herself to admit her feelings. "...You'll be so far away. How will I manage without my best friend?" Kirishima laughed a little bit. "Mina, the Fatgum Agency is in San Francisco. We'll only be an hour away from each other." Mina blinked a few times. "...Really…?" Kirishima nodded as he stood up. He pulled his best friend into a hug. "This isn't goodbye. We're just working. Who knows, maybe our agencies will work with each other in some cases?" Mina smiled as she hugged Kirishima.

Chris and Jason loaded their bags into the back of the taxi. Jason sighed. "...A five hour car ride…" Chris shook his head. "I'm not going to enjoy this." Shoto hugged Jason. "...I'll miss you…" Jason smiled as he wrapped an arm around her. "Hey, don't be like that. You can always call me whenever you feel lonely." She slightly smiled. Chris's mom was in tears and sobbing like she was watching her kids leave forever. Chris held his mother in his arms. "...Mom… I promise we'll be fine…" His mother was having none of it. "You and Jason both nearly died in the forest last year, and now you're moving to a far away city to go do real hero work! Don't tell me to calm down!" All Might and Present Mic just looked at each other, not really knowing what to do. Jason let go of his girlfriend and hugged Chris's mom. "Don't worry. I'll have his back." Ms. Harper pulled Jason into the hug as her crying began to cease. After a few more minutes, she spoke. "...I want both of you to text me every day to let me know you're safe. Ok?" They both responded at the same time. "Ok mom." The 'brothers' looked at each other before smiling. Then they let go of Ms. Harper and got in the taxi. Their friends and teachers waved as the taxi drove off. Jason put his earbuds in and put on some music. Chris smiled and closed his eyes to try and get some more sleep before meeting Night Eye for the first time.
