Chris stretched as he stepped out of the taxi. "...We're here already…?" Jason shot a glare at his best friend. "It may have seemed quick for you, but I was bored as hell." "Really? Why?" "Because you were sleeping the entire time!" Before they could continue, a blonde haired man wearing very casual looking clothes exited the Night Eye Agency. He smiled. "Hey guys!" Jason smiled and shook the guy's hand. "Hello sir. You with the Night Eye Agency?" "I sure am. I'm Mirio Togata: the newest sidekick to Night Eye." Chris froze up. The name sounded very familiar. Then he remembered. This was the former top student at UA who lost his quirk right before Shoto had been kidnapped. Jason must've known this as well, but he didn't seem phased. "Pleasure meeting you. I'm Jason Miller." "I know. I remember you and Chris from the Sports Festival last year. I never got the chance to congratulate you both for placing in second and third place."
The hero helped the students carry their bags inside. "Night Eye is looking forward to finally meeting you two!" He opened the office door. "Night Eye! Chris and Jason are here!" The dark green haired man looked up, glaring at Chris as he entered. Chris could feel the hostile atmosphere. The very tall and lanky man rose from his chair. He was easily much taller than Chris. He walked up and was now towering over the young student. The first thing Chris noticed was that his eyes seemed to flash black before turning back to their natural white. He narrowed his eyes. "So you're All Might's successor." Chris couldn't help but feel intimidated. This was the pro hero Night Eye.
Kirishima exited his taxi and stood in front of the Fatgum Agency. It was a relatively small building that clearly didn't have the same financial backing as most of the other agencies. He walked in with his bags. "Hello?" A very large man wearing an orange rain parka and a black mask covering his eyes walked out of his office. He smiled. "Kirishima! Welcome!" Kirishima was thrown off guard. Of course he had looked up Fatgum and saw pictures, but he never expected him to be as tall or as fat in real life. The hero stuck his hand out. "I'm Taishiro Toyomitsu! You can just call me Fatgum!" Kirishima smiled brightly, showing off his razor sharp teeth. "I'm Eijiro Kirishima! You can call me Red Riot!" Fatgum let out a booming laugh. "That's great! I admire your attitude!" He stepped aside. "Come on in! Let me show you to your office!"
Mina and Momo walked into the Ryukyu Agency. The place was very clean and organized: expected of an agency belonging to one of the Top 10 Heroes. An intern noticed them and made a phone call. Ryukyu came out of her office moments later. The blonde haired woman smiled warmly. "Ms. Ashido and Ms. Yaoyorozu. Welcome to my agency." Momo shook the hero's hand. "Thank you, ma'am, but I don't normally go by my last name. 'Yaoyorozu' is a mouthful anyways. You can call me Momo." Mina also shook the hero's hand. "I prefer to go by Mina." The hero waved them in. "Come. Let me show you around." Before they had gotten far, a blue haired woman ran up. "Mina! Momo! So good to see you!" The two students were thrown off guard by the stranger floating in front of them. Then Momo brightened up. "Oh! You're Nejire Hado!" Mina also recognized the woman. "You were the third strongest hero at UA last year!" Nejire smiled. "That's me! Come! I'll show you around!" Ryukyu giggled as she watched the three women walk off. She turned back into her office. "Hopefully they make this place a whole lot more lively."
Chris just stared up at Night Eye. The room fell completely silent. Even Mirio had lost his smile, having never seen his mentor so angry for apparently no reason. Then Night Eye stood up straight. "Both of you: why did you come to me for your internships?" Chris took a deep breath. "...I came because you were All Might's sidekick. I want to learn how to be a better hero, and to learn how to become the next Symbol of Peace." Jason's eyes narrowed. "Ditto." Night Eye looked up at Mirio. "Leave us." Mirio hesitantly nodded and walked out. Night Eye looked down at Jason. "I looked into your file. Even the parts that are supposed to be kept a secret. Your actions during the USJ incident, your skill during the arrest of Hero Killer Stain, and your leadership skills during the League of Villains attack during your field trip to Cowell Park are remarkable feats. I even heard of your strength and courage during the battle with All for One. You have my utmost gratitude for saving All Might, and I would've accepted you into my Agency regardless of circumstances." The pro hero turned to Chris. "You, on the other hand, have only one accomplishment to your name: scoring second place during the UA Sports Festival last year. Otherwise, you've failed at every turn." Chris stood up for himself. "I've had more accomplishments! I would like to see you take out Muscular!" Night Eye scoffed. "You defeated Muscular at the cost of your body and nearly your life. You're lucky Recovery Girl was able to heal you back then." Chris looked down. Night Eye glared down at the student. "Even if we count Muscular, it would seem you're just trying to mimic All Might. However, he had a much better understanding of what it truly means to be a hero. So let me ask you this." Night Eye leaned down and in Chris's face. "What kind of hero are you trying to become?"
The question stunned Chris. After another minute of silence, Night Eye went to his desk. "I'm recruiting both of you." Chris and Jason both smiled at each other. "However…" They both turned to the hero as he kept talking. "...I'm only recruiting you, Chris, to prove to All Might that you were the wrong choice to inherit One for All." He slid the two recruitment papers across his desk and set a pen down. Chris hesitantly took the pen and signed the document. He had known the training here would be difficult, but he had never expected this.
Jason signed his document. "So, what do we do at this agency?" Night Eye sat in his seat. "Both of you better take a seat, because I have a lot of information to give you and not much time." He looked up at the two new recruits as they sat across from him.
"Our mission is simple, but important: the destruction of the Cosa Nostra and the apprehension of their leader, a man only known as 'Overhaul'."
