The Cosa Nostra (Part 12)

Overhaul slammed his hand on the floor. His quirk activated, obliterating the floor. Chris fell to a knee. Then the concrete reassembled into large tendrils and shot out at Chris. The student barely managed to dodge the attack. Overhaul grabbed one of the tendrils, causing it to collapse and reassemble once more, lashing out at Chris. Chris would've had a hard time fighting Overhaul regardless, but the gunshot wound to his leg made this fight even worse for him. However, Chris powered up a flick. Overhaul, who had disintegrated his second glove, put his hand down on the ground beneath him. A wall was constructed out of dirt and metal. Chris's flick destroyed the wall but left Overhaul unharmed. The mob boss then slammed both of his hands down on the ground. The entire hallway came crashing down on Chris. All Might's apprentice powered 23% of One for All through his body. Then he released another New York Smash, destroying all of the rocks and debris that were trying to crush him. The end result was a freshly made cavern almost as big as a football field. Almost all 10 of the upper levels had been destroyed, meaning the cavern's 'ceiling' was the first floor of the base. Chris landed on his feet, but then fell to his knee in pain. The gunshot wound to his right thigh was still affecting his movement. Overhaul looked around. The doctor had fallen to the ground, but had used his body to shield Eri. The small box with the finished product was also on the ground, but the doctor reached out and grabbed it. Overhaul could now focus his complete attention on Chris. "Non ne uscirai vivo da qui."

Jason, after supervising the police arrest the thugs he had beaten, sprinted through the wrecked remains of the facility. The raid party had tore through this place and was hopefully apprehending Overhaul. There were multiple beaten down thugs littering the facility. However, the deeper Jason went, the less thugs he found. The bulk of the Cosa Nostra had been beaten on the surface. He couldn't help but think about Shoto. She wasn't in any danger as a result of this raid, but his thoughts remained on his girlfriend. Was it normal for these thoughts to occur during dangerous missions like this? Jason smiled a little bit. He had used up all of his rage in his recent skirmish, so he found it difficult to stay focused. It also meant that Jason was overcome by only fear and shock when he witnessed Shigaraki step into the hallway.

Blue flames encircled the raiding party. Aizawa tackled Nighteye to the ground as a massive blue fireball flew over them, disintegrating most of the cops that were with them. Dabi walked forward, his hands on fire. "Fast reflexes, Eraser Head. Now I see why the USJ attack failed." Aizawa looked towards Dabi in shock. "First Twice, now Dabi?! Is the entire league of Villains here?!" Nighteye rose to his feet. "If they're working with the Cosa Nostra, then this operation is bigger than we thought!" Aizawa looked to Nighteye. "Get going! I'll handle this pyromaniac!" Nighteye looked into Aizawa's eyes. Then he nodded before continuing his sprint to the final level of the facility. It was only a matter of time before Overhaul was caught.

Shigaraki reached out with his hand, trying to grab Jason. However, he slid, activating Inner Strength with his sadness. Blue energy covered Jason's right arm as he tried to destroy Shigaraki's leg. The villain was too fast though, jumping up and over Jason. Both of them were suddenly on their feet, facing each other. The villain smiled. "I should've known you would be here. You're always underfoot." Jason smiled. "And you're always in my way. You're too prideful to work for Overhaul and you're too much of an idiot for him to work with you. That being the case, why are you here?" Shigaraki lost his smile and charged Jason. "To end the age of heroes once and for all."

Chris jumped up several feet into the air and flipped, dodging several concrete tendrils. Overhaul's quirk made him especially lethal at long range. However, at close range, Chis ran the possibility of being grabbed by Overhaul, which would be an instantaneous death. Chris scanned the room. He saw Eri and the doctor were out of harm's way. The little girl watched the fight unfold before her. She didn't get her hopes up. Many people have died because of her. She teared up, ready to watch another nice person die because of her wanting to be free.

Nighteye ran into the man made cavern. He stopped in awe. Whatever attack had created this cavern had reached all the way up to the first floor. If the party had been above the attack, then the raid would've failed. He looked across the room to see Chris engaging in long range combat with Overhaul. There was a flurry of shockwaves, flicks, concrete tendrils, and shards being thrown around everywhere. The pro hero took notice of the doctor, who was dragging Eri away. In moments, Nighteye kicked the doctor away and caught Eri before she hit the ground. "It's ok. I have you now." Overhaul turned and saw the scene. Enraged, he slammed his hand on some nearby concrete, sending a storm of sharp rocks their direction. Nighteye narrowly dodged the attack. The realization hit him: Overhaul didn't have to worry about hurting Eri. He could just rebuild her body as many times as he needed. However, if Eri became critically injured and the heroes still get away with her, she would die in their care. Chris charged Overhaul, but slammed into a newly constructed wall. The doctor rolled onto his back with a pistol drawn. Nighteye, with his free hand, threw one of his Seals at the doctor. The Seal struck the doctor in the forehead. With a sickening crack, the doctor laid motionless on the ground. Chris jumped into the air and released a barrage of flicks. Overhaul narrowly avoided the shockwaves and touched the ground. His quirk rippled across the ground. The result was a concrete wall that sealed the only exit shut. Nighteye and Chris were trapped with him now.

Jason rolled backwards and fired off a powerful flick at Shigaraki. The villain must have gone through some intense training, because he was much faster than he had been at the USJ attack. Despite Jason's improvements and using his quirk, he was no longer stronger than Shigaraki. The villain touched the ground, disintegrating the floor underneath Jason. The hero in training fell onto his side and rolled to avoid Shigaraki's other hand. Using Inner Strength, Jason jumped backwards, putting some distance in between him and Shigaraki. "Ok, I'll bite: how the hell did you get this strong?!" Shigaraki rose to his feet, catching his breath. "After our little rumble at the USJ, I needed to get stronger. I promised myself that I would never be humiliated like that again." Jason raised his guard. He wasn't ready for this. He was tired and one of his strongest emotions was depleted. Luckily, this fight wasn't meant to be. Toga ran up to Shigaraki. "Boss! We got the things!" He looked at his subordinate. "And what about the heroes?" "Twice cloned Dabi and the clone is dealing with them!" Shigaraki glared at Jason from behind his mask. "I suppose we will settle this at a later date. Farewell, 'Endgame'." The pair walked the other way. Jason sighed in relief. However, Jason also felt a part of his pride deteriorate. Somehow, he felt like he had lost that fight.

Overhaul looked in between Chris and Nighteye. The two heroes were trapped in the room with him, meaning he controlled the battlefield. However, Overhaul didn't like his odds of going head to head with Nighteye, All Might's former sidekick, and Chris, who was incredibly strong. Overhaul knew exactly what he needed: he needed more power. The thug walked over to the deceased doctor. Chris and Nighteye watched carefully. Overhaul grabbed the doctor and himself. Overhaul and the doctor exploded into red mist. Then their destroyed bodies came back together. Nighteye was shocked. Chris began to panic. Overhaul reassembled in front of them. However, the doctor's body mass had been added to the thug's. Overhaul now had four giant arms: two coming out of each side. "La tua fine è adesso." The true battle had only just begun.
