The Cosa Nostra (Part 14)

The concrete spike broke. Chris fell to the ground, blood dripping from his mouth. He coughed again. More blood spilled out. Overhaul's spike had pierced one of his lungs. Without proper medical treatment, he would drown to death in his own blood or bleed out altogether. That wasn't even mentioning the gunshot wound that was still untreated. Chris did his best to get back up, but his body was breaking underneath 30% One for All. Overhaul began walking towards Chris. "You're stubborn, I'll give you that." Chris was desperately trying to move, but couldn't find the strength. Then Eri shouted. "Stop!" The mobster turned to the little girl, who was crying. "Stop hurting him! I'll go! I promise I'll behave! Just please stop!" Overhaul smiled as he outreached a single hand. "I knew you would come around eventually." Eri looked down at the ground as she walked forward. Chris gritted his teeth. "...No…" Overhaul turned to him. Eri also looked. Chris managed to put a single foot underneath him. "...I'll save you, Eri… That's a promise…" Overhaul chuckled a little. "Why would you make a promise you know you can't keep. Can't you see false hope only hurts her?" Chris finally managed to stand up. "...I'll save her… no matter what…" He grabbed the spike that was still in him. "Because… because…" He yanked the spike out, causing blood to spill everywhere. "Because I'll become a hero who saves everyone!" Eri, tears still running down her dirty cheeks, just stared at Chris. Many people had died because of her. More than she could count. However, none of them had actively fought to save her from Overhaul to this degree. Overhaul sighed and reached out to grab Chris. Chris reared his arm back, making a defiant last stand.

Mina stood up. "Ready!" Momo ran across the courtyard as the giant chased her. She spun around and shouted. "Now!" Neijire took a deep breath and smiled. She jumped out from her hiding place and fired her laser-like quirk at full strength at the giant's upper back. He tripped, landing on the acid covered ground. He began to scream as the acid burned his skin. The girls all smiled at each other. Then the giant began getting back up. Momo was about to create more explosives when Ryukyu returned, body slamming the giant back down. That was a mistake. As soon as the Dragon slammed herself down on the acid-weakened ground, she, the giant, Mina, and Momo all fell through the ground and into a massive cavern.

Chris and Overhaul snapped their heads up to see a giant and a dragon fall through the artificial ceiling. Chris jumped out of the way as the two massive people crashed into the ground. Ryukyu had managed to extend her wing, saving both Momo and Mina from a lethal fall. The girls rolled onto the ground, covered in dirt and bruises. Overhaul looked around at the destruction. His base was gone. His crew were all dead or dying. Everything was collapsing around him. Overhaul used one of his arms to grab the box of darts and another arm to grab Eri. Chris turned, noticing the movement. He began to run forward, but Overhaul slammed the ground beneath himself. The ground shot up like an elevator. The mobster was on his way to the surface. Chris screamed. "Overhaul!" Overhaul glanced down at the broken student before looking back up at the surface. He could recover from this. He just had to escape.

One for All powered through Chris. His body was screaming from pain, and he could barely breathe, but he had to save Eri. Blood gushed out of his chest as Chris leaped up. He was jumping off of the walls, trying his hardest to fend off death. Eri looked down to see a bloody Chris trying to get to her. Tears came to her eyes as she whispered to herself. "...Why are you trying so hard…?" Chris landed on some debris. His ankle broke, but he kept charging forward. Eri stood up. "...he won't stop… until I'm saved…" Overhaul wasn't paying attention. He was more focused on getting to the surface. Chris punched away a massive chunk of concrete. The punch broke his forearm. Chris couldn't see straight from the pain and blood. Eri stood on the edge of the concrete elevator. "...I don't want him to die… I don't want anyone to die…" Overhaul finally took notice of Eri. Chris leaped up with all of his might. "Eri!" "The only way to save him…" Eri jumped off. "...is to let him save me!" Overhaul reached out, but missed the grab. Chris caught Eri as the two began to fall back towards the ground. "...I have you, Eri… and I won't let go again…" Overhaul was the angriest he had ever been. "Give! Her! Back!" He shattered the concrete lifting him up, turning it into a dozen concrete tendrils. Chris knew he couldn't dodge in midair. He began to power up a kick with 100% of One for All. He couldn't see through the blood covering his eyes, but he would take Overhaul with him. The tendrils came closer. At that moment, Eri's horn glowed. Chris kicked. However, instead of destroying the tendrils, he and Eri both vanished. Overhaul was confused, but was then hit by the shockwave Chris had created with his kick.

Momo coughed as the dust settled. Ryukyu had sheltered her, Mina, and Nighteye with her wing. Mina used her acid to destroy the bottom of the tendrils that were piercing the pro hero. She then gently laid him down. "He needs medical attention!" Momo froze up. Overhaul was only a few meters away now. Ryukyu stood up. "...get ready, Creati…" Nighteye coughed. "...You two couldn't beat him… if you tried…" Luckily, Overhaul didn't care about them. He was staring up at the hole in the ceiling. "...Damn you, brat…" He walked over to the giant and touched him. The giant exploded into red mist, then came back, converging on Overhaul. "...She doesn't belong to you… She belongs to me…"

Chris opened his eyes. He and Eri were over a mile above the ground. Eri's horn was sending energy in every direction. Chris looked down at his leg. He had used 100% of One for All in that kick, but it wasn't broken. His ankle felt better too. Chris fired off a small kick to slow their descent before landing. He put Eri down before standing up. All of his wounds were healed: even the massive hole in his chest. Chris had no idea how this could've happened. Then he took a knee in front of Eri. "...Are you doing this…?" Eri innocently tilted her head in confusion, not understanding what Chris was talking about.

Chris then heard movement behind him. He grabbed Eri and moved out of the way, narrowly dodging several concrete tendrils. Chri landed with Eri in his arms. Overhaul rose out of the pit. He was no longer in his form with the four arms. He was now a hulking monster with six limbs and four legs, standing five stories high. "That's her quirk." Overhaul's body could be seen in what could be referred to as the 'mouth'. "It's called 'Rewind'. She can reverse humans in many ways. She can reverse injuries, she can reverse your age, she might even be able to turn a person back into a monkey if used correctly." Overhaul came closer, partially destroying the buildings around him as his massive form lumbered forward. "She may have saved you, but it was an accidental activation. She can't control it. The only way to stop her from rewinding everyone around her is for me to break her down and reassemble her." Chris took a knee as he tore off the top of his costume. "Hop on, Eri." Eri jumped onto Chris's back. Overhaul reached one of his massive hands out. "Give her to me. With her, I will cleanse this world of quirks. Then, once the Cosa Nostra has a quirk monopoly, this entire country will be under my thumb." Chris tied the ripped costume top around himself, effectively tying Eri down on his back. "You'll have to take her over my dead body." "Easily arranged."

Chris took a deep breath. This was do or die. He had to stop Overhaul at any cost, and this was his last chance. Now that he knew how Eri's quirk worked, he knew what he had to do. He had to break his body faster than Eri was repairing it, or Eri would accidentally kill him. Green energy sparked off of him before consuming him. One for All surged within him, stronger than it had ever been. His eyes began to glow as he faced Overhaul. This was it.
