The 2nd Sports Festival (Part 4)

Pres Mic gave a big grin as he brought the microphone up to his mouth. "Ladies and gentlemen, I am your host Present Mic, and I welcome you all to day two of the 2019 UA Sports Festival!" The crowd went absolutely wild. Pres Mic waited for them to quiet down a little before continuing. "And I would like to introduce my co host yet again, Shota Aizawa!" Aizawa didn't say a single word. He was far too annoyed that his best friend had once again convinced him to do this. However, there was an actual plus side to being the co host this year. Aizawa had taken a great interest in Jason and Chris during the year he taught them. He didn't get a chance to watch their fights during the Cosa Nostra Raid first hand, so this would be a great way to see how much they've improved. Pres Mic looked down at the stage. "What's this? There aren't any students here? Did they all forget about one of the biggest day of the year?!" Aizawa looked over at Pres Mic, not at all amused with the way he entertained the crowd. "Not at all, folks! At this moment, they-" Aizawa interrupted. "The first round will be a five mile race. First eight students to finish will enter the quarterfinals. The only rules are they can't hospitalize anyone and they must stay on the track." "Dude! Not cool!"

Chris stretched his legs, excited for the race. He's been able to show off his power almost every day of training, but now he would get to show off his speed. Jason was a little nervous, given that he has never used Inner Strength to run that far. However, the only two people he was worried about being able to pass him were Chris and Iida. The others were too slow to be a threat to him. Mina took a few deep breaths. She was going to race ahead right at the beginning. Once she had momentum, she planned on using her acid like roller skates. Then she would improvise where she had to. Shoto rolled her neck before dropping herself into a racing stance. She smiled. Her endurance training was about to pay off. Kirishima hardened his arms, ready to plow through anyone in front of him. Momo stayed in the back, not intending to win this year. She would cheer on her friends from the sidelines. Denki inhaled and slowly exhaled, small bits of electricity sparking off of his hands. After his talk with Mina a week prior, he had calmed down. He didn't have to be the best. He just had to prove to himself that he could still compete with everyone around him.

Snipe raised his pistol into the air, looking out over the crowd of second year students. "Listen up! The rules are simple! You cannot kill each other, you cannot break each other's bones, and you cannot cause any permanent damage to each other! You must also remain on the track! Any questions?!" Nobody said anything. Snipe pulled out his phone with his free hand. He was instructed to let them go at exactly 10:00am, which was seconds away. "On your marks!" Jason and Chris leaned forward. "Get set!" Inner Strength and One for All powered through their legs. This was it.

Snipe fired his pistol.
