Trump Card (Part 7)

Chris and Jason ran through the trees that stood in between their dorm building and the site of the explosion. Chris shouted. "You think it's the League of Villains?!" "Who else has the balls to attack UA in the middle of the day?! There has to be over a dozen pro heroes here!" Shoto sprinted, only catching up to her friends because they weren't using their quirks. "Are any of those heroes skilled enough to take on the League?!" Kirishima was panting, as his body wasn't designed for these long distance sprints. "...Aizawa… maybe…" Chris grimaced as he slowed down a little bit, letting his friends keep up with him. "Aizawa is gone for the day! He left Eri with Momo!" Kirishima swore at the top of his lungs as the four kept running.

Tokoyami landed next to Denki as Dark Shadow receded into his host. The two ran together. "This is truly going to be a test of our determination, Denki." The blonde forced a smile. "Yea, I hear ya dude! I'm so pumped!" Tokoyami just turned his head to his friend. "...you don't have to lie to me. I'm nervous too." Denki lost his smile. "...I'm… I'm scared dude… I still remember what happened when I helped Momo fight that Nomu… what if-" "This won't be like last time." Denki looked at Tokoyami, who continued talking. "You have gotten much stronger since then. Not to mention our most experienced classmates are running ahead of us. I'm also certain that reinforcements will be just behind us. We're not trying to beat the League of Villains. We just need to hold them off long enough for help to arrive." Denki was shocked. "How do you know it's the League of Villains?!" "I saw them while I was up in the air." "Do the others know that?!" They did their best to run faster.

"Wait, is that-" Before Chris could finish his sentence, a blur of purple and black tackled him. Both it and Chris disappeared deeper into the forest. Jason spun on his heels, but was prevented from running after him by a sudden wall of blue flames. Jason, Kirishima, and Shoto all turned to the obvious source. "Long time no see, guys." Dabi took a few steps forward, putting his right hand back in his pocket. Jason sighed. "The League of Villains. Why is it always you guys causing trouble wherever we go?" Shoto glared. "Hey there, Touya." Kirishima looked at her. "Who the hell is Touya?" Shoto waved him off. "I'll explain later. You two should go. I got this." Kirishima was hesitant, but Jason just nodded and looked at him. "Come on." "Jason, are you sure about this?" "She said she's got this. Are you calling her a liar?" With that, the two guys ran in the direction Chris had gone.

Tokoyami stopped in his tracks. Denki stopped and turned. "What is it?" Tokoyami didn't say anything as he glared up at the nearby trees. Denki ran back to him. "Look, dude, I don't know what's gotten into you, but we have to-" "You keep going." Denki tensed up. "...what?" "You go help the others. I have some business to take care of." "Already so eager for a rematch?" Denki spun his head around to the sound of the voice, finally seeing what Tokoyami saw. Mr. Compress was standing on a branch, cane in hand. Tokoyami allowed himself a smirk. "What happened to your arm?" Mr. Compress hopped down from the tree. "Work related incident." Dark Shadow emerged from Tokoyami as he spoke. "Go, Denki. I will handle this." Even Dark Shadow was eager. "Yea, Denki! We can handle this!" Denki smirked and faced the villain. "No way, dude. We can do this together. The others will be fine for the time being."

Iida continued waving his classmates out of the dorm. All but Mina and Momo were evacuated. Their plan was to sneak away during the commotion of the evacuation, meaning that Iida and Itsuka needed to create as much noise as possible. However, while they were trying to be as loud as possible, they failed to notice the blonde lunatic climbing through one of the windows. Toga smiled as she skipped towards the stairwell. The UA Dorms had only been built recently due to the threat of villains attacking students, but the plans for them had been around for quite some time. This meant that the UA spy had provided the exact layout for the building. Also, thanks to Void, the League of Villains now knew which room was Momo's, and that Eri would likely be there. The files recovered from the Cosa Nostra hideout very clearly showed that Eri was the key to creating more quirk erasure darts. That was Toga's only mission during this entire raid; to capture Eri and bring her back to the nearest safe house in one piece. She made her way up to the third floor and entered the hallway. Momo and Mina turned and froze. Eri was still in Momo's arms. Toga drew her knife and smiled. "Hey there." Eri buried her face into Momo's neck out of fear. Momo reached her hand out, to create a weapon, but Mina stepped forward. "Get out of here." Momo turned to Mina. "What?" "Get Eri out of here. I'll rejoin you two as soon as I finish up here." Momo looked at Toga. The blonde villain giggled. "You want to fight me one on one? I will be more than happy to oblige. I can't wait to see what kind of blood comes out of you." Mina took a deep breath before creating a little bit of acid in her hands. Momo looked at her friend one last time. "Good luck." Momo ran to the elevator with Eri. Toga drew a second knife. Mina looked directly into her eyes. "Do you have any idea how much I have to hold back on a daily basis?" Toga tilted her head in confusion. "What do you mean?" "My quirk is acid. I literally create acid that very few materials can withstand against. So, during training, I have to hold back to prevent causing permanent damage to my classmates. When I'm fighting crime, I have to be careful I don't permanently scar the bodies of the people I fight. The League of Villains, on the other hand, have attacked my friends, kidnapped the people closest to me, constantly terrorize the civilian population, and now are attacking the place we live." Mina got into a combat stance. "So get ready, because I don't care what my acid does to you."
