A Hero's Resolve (Part 6)

"If it isn't the legendary Impact. I'm honored that such a powerful hero has come to fight me." Chris shouted. "I'm not in the mood, Void! You kidnapped my mother!" "Hm? Oh, yea. Now that you're here, she'll be let go." Chris didn't relax at all. "You expect me to believe that? You had Dabi threaten her with fire." "The person you saw in the video was Toga. She was quite the actress. Do you think so little of me as to think I would go as far as to actually threaten civilians?" Chris took a step closer. "Yes. Yes I do." Void sighed as he crossed his arms. "Look, she was my mother too. I only used her as a threat to lure you here. You are incredibly predictable after all." The villain and the hero in training stared at each other for a long time.

Kirishima punched the door down and sprinted up the stairs. Mina, Momo, Denki, and Tokoyami followed close behind. Momo raised her phone to her ear. "We're in! Begin the assault!" Fatgum spoke on the other end. "Don't worry about us! We'll buy you as much time as you need!" "Thanks! We won't be long!" Momo hung up and pocketed the phone. "Fatgum and Suneater are starting their part of the operation! They should buy us a few minutes!" Denki looked back at her. "Are we really expected to take out the entire League of Villains?!" Mina narrowed her eyes. "That's the idea!" Kirishima turned his head back to face them, still leading the charge. "We're capturing as many as possible! However, our main goal is capturing Shigaraki!" Momo nodded. "Capturing Shigaraki should cripple the League of Villains and begin infighting within the League! There's a chance it could collapse on its own!" Tokoyami narrowed his eyes as he looked up the stairwell. "We're not alone."

Wake stood on a floor much higher than where the group was at. He spoke into his phone. "They're in. What now?" Shigaraki's voice came over the other side. "Do whatever it takes to slow them down. Remember: united we stand." Wake smirked as he hung up. "Divided they fall." Wake rubbed his hands together and aimed them down the stairwell. "Let's see them dodge this!" He unleashed a massive jet of water from both hands.

Tokoyami stopped. "Everyone move!" Dark Shadow emerged and grabbed onto the floor above, pulling Tokoyami into the open space in the middle of all of the stairs. Kirishima, Mina, and Momo all burst through the nearest door. As the water came crashing down, it caught Denki and forced him back down a floor. He did manage to get through the door however. Denki swore as he pulled out his phone and called Momo. Luckily, she answered. "Chargebolt?! Where are you?!" "First of all, I'm ok, thanks for asking. Secondly, I'm on the floor below you. I don't think we're getting past Wake though." Denki heard Tokoyami shout from the stairwell. "I'll handle Wake! Regroup with the others!" Denki sighed and, with complete faith in his friend, smiled. "Give him hell, Tsukuyomi!" He then charged back into the stairwell.

Wake sighed as he heard someone charging up the stairs. "Damn idiots." As he raised his hands up, a large fist made entirely of shadow slammed into Wake. The young villain was sent flying through the door behind him. Dark Shadow and Tokoyami walked through the doorway. "I believe this is the first time we are meeting, Wake." The villains stood up, smirking. "Mr. Compress told me about you. Tokoyami Fumikage. Wait, I suppose you want me to address you by your hero name. Tsukuyomi, right?" Tokoyami snapped his fingers. "I will give you the privilege to call me whatever you want…" Dark Shadow began to cover Tokoyami, becoming a layer of armor around him. "...as I'll be the last hero you ever face." Dark Shadow's massive hands covered Tokoyami's, and then enlarged to become massive claws. It was at this moment that Wake finally realized that this was one of Tokoyami's special moves. The hero looked up at Wake. "Abyssal Black Body!" Wake raised his hands, preparing his quirk. "Bring it on, bird brain!"

Fatgum put his phone down. "It's time!" Tamaki took a deep breath and charged forward. Several members of Santa Cruz Police's Special Weapons and Tactics, or SWAT, charged in with assault rifles raised. Fatgum smiled as he ran alongside Tamaki. "This is my first real mission since we rescued Jason! I'm more excited than I should be!" Tamaki remained silent. The battle with Void on the beach was still fresh in his mind. He was one of the strongest students in UA last year, and yet he was tossed aside like a low ranked hero. As Tamaki created a massive crab claw to shatter the glass door and allow his team inside, he vowed to never go down that easily again.

Chris kept his eyes on Void as they walked circles around each other. Void smiled again. "So this is how it all ends? Up here on a tower with me killing you in front of the whole world?" Chris pointed. "I didn't choose this. You never gave me much of a choice. Hell, my only choice right now is not killing you the minute I got up here." Void laughed. "You can't kill me." Chris got ready to fight. "Ready to test that theory of yours?" Void, still smiling, looked down from the tower and looked at all of the police surrounding the tower, hiding behind their barricades. Void took a deep breath and he turned back to Chris. "Alright. Let's do this." After another minute of silence, Chris and Void charged towards each other. The resulting shockwave from their colliding fists rocked the entire tower.
