A Hero's Resolve (Part 7)

Shoto and Dabi slowly walked circles around each other, their flames ready to go. The scarred villain had an evil smile. "Don't heroes say some heroic remarks before fighting a villain?" Shoto glared. "The time for talk has passed. You all tried to kill Endeavor and tried to kill my friends. I don't care if you were once my brother. I will make sure you never hurt anyone else again. The League of Villains brought about this conflict, but it is us heroes who will end it." Dabi sighed. "Very well. At least we're on the same page." He blasted his fire at full power.

Fatgum ran through the opening Tamaki had made. He looked around and didn't see anyone in the lobby. Tamaki kept an eye on the many doors leading from the lobby to other portions of the tower. "Not as much security as I thought there would be." At that moment, the doors were kicked down as several pale Nomus charged out, some of them even crawling on the walls. Fatgum shouted. "What have I told you about jinxing things?!" Tamaki silently manifested several large tentacles from his fingers and reached out, crushing nearly 20 Nomus at once. He wasn't in the mood for games. "I will buy enough time for Red Riot and the others to complete their mission. Even if I have to hold off these Nomus alone."

A police lieutenant was sweating as he watched Fatgum and Tamaki fight the Nomus with a SWAT team supporting them. However, bullets had never been very effective against these monstrosities. He took off his cap and wiped the sweat away from his forehead. He was getting flashbacks from the time the League of Villains had raided his convoy, back when he was escorting Overhaul and the Quirk erasure darts. Then an officer grabbed his arm. "Sir! Someone ran past the barricades!" The chief looked up just in time to see a man in black with a red cape easily slip past police and run into the building. The lieutenant's demeanor changed. He was suddenly hopeful. "...Endgame is here…"

Shoto slammed her right foot down, creating a wall of ice. The ice only held up for a few seconds, but it was all she needed. Shoto Activated her flames and blasted through her own ice. Dabi didn't expect the pushback and was thrown off balance as a result. He scowled as he ignited his blue flames again. "She's able to overpower me? That shouldn't be possible…" Shoto sprinted through the steam created by the melting ice. "You really want to know which of us is the greatest child of Endeavor?! The fact that you think there's a hierarchy among us just shows how far you've fallen!" She blasted Dabi at close range. He barely managed to block the attack with his own flames. "Where is she getting this power from?!" Dabi turned up the heat, pushing back against Shoto. The heroine stood her ground. Increasing her firepower as well. The floor was beginning to melt underneath them. Their blue and red flames danced around the room, catching fire to any flammable source they could find. Shoto finally broke off her attack and rolled to the side. "I thought this was going to be a challenge, but it's clear that you have no idea how to use your flames." Dabi scoffed and blasted Shoto at point blank range. Shoto created an ice shield on her right arm and blocked the flames. Dabi moved closer, now using all of his fire power at point blank range. Shoto strained to keep the ice wall up. Dabi laughed maniacally over the sound of his fire. "What now, little sis?! As soon as you switch to your flames, you'll be turned to ash!"

Dabi lost his smile. Through his own flames, he could see Shoto's red flames building up on her arm. "...how are you doing this? You can't use fire and ice at the same time…" Shoto smirked. "Shows how little you know. We never stopped training. We never stopped getting stronger. The League of Villains started this war." Shoto stood up, shouting as loud as she could. "But I'm going to make sure that we win! It's over, Dabi!" The fire around her arm condensed towards her fist. "Flash Fire Fist: Jet Burn!" Shoto shot the powerful fire attack through Dabi's flames. It hit Dabi in the gut, sending him rocketing through the window. The fire melted the shattered glass before it even hit the floor. Shoto stopped her attack and took a deep breath. She stared out the window for a little bit. "...did I… kill him…?" Shoto realized that she was still in the middle of an office fire, so she froze the entire room before running out of the room. "Time to stop Void and Chris before they kill each other."
