The warden yawned as he swiped his card into the electronic scanner, granting him access to the control room. There were ten guards in there, casually conversing among each other. They all sat up straight as they noticed the Warden. He didn't mind if they relaxed. There hadn't been a break out in the entire history of the prison, even back before quirks had existed. A good part of it was that the guards here were the best of the best. They didn't back down when challenged and were incredibly alert when conducting their security checks. The Warden knew his men could handle anything. He bid the guards a good night as he left, heading over to the ferry that would bring him and the off going dayshift to San Francisco, the city surrounding Alcatraz. He smiled and chatted with some of the supervisors and legal staff who were waiting at the dock. After a quick trip, the Warden got into his car and drove off. That was all he remembered before everything went black.
Dabi tossed the now deceased Warden onto the ground. "Let's hurry this up." Toga giggled as she slit the Warden's neck. Shigaraki glared at Dabi. "I said I needed him alive." Dabi shrugged. "His airbag didn't activate until after his head slammed into the steering wheel. He was dead before I pulled him out of the car." Shigaraki swore. Vortex crossed his arms as he spoke to Shigaraki. "If we had more time to prepare for this raid, then we would've had more time to get him. Why are we going through with the plan tonight? We were only informed of the plan this morning." Shigaraki turned his head to him. "We had to wait for the opportune moment. Dr. Nomura figured out that today is the day. The night watch is understaffed, due to recent retirees and certain guards being on vacation." Toga had finished cutting open the Warden's throat and was now drinking his blood directly from the wound. Vortex talked over the sound she was making. "So Dr. Nomura came up with the date. Is it his plan?" "No. The plan is mine." Vortex smirked. "Your plans never work out." Dabi glared at Vortex, but Shigaraki didn't seem to care about Vortex's opinions. Toga, now looking exactly like the Warden, stood up. "Ready to go, boss." Shigaraki turned to Kurogiri, who had been silently standing behind him, and nodded. Kurogiri activated his quirk as he spoke to Toga. "I'm teleporting you into the Warden's office. You'll need to use his thumbprint to-" Toga interrupted, annoyed. "Override the security protocols, yea yea yea. I'm ready." She ran into the portal. As Kurogiri closed the portal, Shigaraki turned to Vortex. "Time to get ready." Vortex's eyes turned a bright silver as he smiled. "Finally."
The security supervisor of the night finished his coffee and stood up to go refill it from the machine. Then he and the other three guards in the security room with him stopped when they heard thunder. A younger guard looked at his coworkers. "I didn't hear anything about there being a storm today." A massive bolt of lightning suddenly struck the generator. Power fluctuated throughout the entire facility before shutting down all together. Emergency power failed to come online. After a few seconds, the supervisor ran to the window. The courtyard doors were wide open. He grabbed a nearby hand radio. "Rovers, report in!" For a few moments, there was nothing. Then an unintelligible noise came over the other end. It sounded like screaming and shouting. All four guards grabbed their weapons and ran out of the dark room. The supervisor, being the last one out, triggered the emergency lockdown. This lockdown was unaffected by the power outage, and sealed all of the prison wings.
Vortex fell to the ground, coughing up a little bit of blood. Dabi slowly nodded. "That must've been the largest lightning bolt I've ever seen." Kurogiri looked at Shigaraki. "Using the built-in safety system against the guards is genius, Shigaraki." The villains were on the San Francisco docks, looking at Alcatraz. Shigaraki was watching through binoculars. "Once upon a time, there was a prison fire that resulted in the deaths of a lot of inmates, because they were locked in their cells. Therefore, all federal prisons are required to have locks that open in case of an emergency. These particular cells are magnet based, meaning the power outage would open the cells, and Toga seems to have successfully overridden the safety protocols." Vortex managed to stand up. "...which means no back up power…" Kurogiri nodded. "Toga should link up with Spinner, Wake, and Compress, then she'll give us the signal. All for One will be able to get out on his own."
An alarm sounded from Alcatraz. Vortex sighed in defeat. "...they have a backup system that isn't affected by the outage…" Kurogiri looked down at Shigaraki. "It's likely a manual system, sir." Shigaraki tossed the binoculars to the side. "I knew there was a good chance of that. Plan B it is." Dabi smirked as he raised both his hands and ignited his blue females. "I love Plan B."
